Please read the following original text from the 2014 APUS Student
Here is the section of the style guide that might help you with your citations.
10. Must document all sources in APA style as outlined in the Ashford Writing Center.
I have read and understand the APUS plagiarism policy. At all time, every student should be accountable for their own work. The plagiarism policy is there to make sure students are learning rather than copying and using someone else work.
This prevents from copying a source or just rewording the source. Also, it is best to mark what are your own ideas and what are another’s so that you can properly give credit (“Welcome to the Purdue OWL”). If you are ever in doubt, it is best to go ahead and give credit. You could ask your teacher for their opinion on whether to cite the information. Make sure to keep track on what information is used and from where (Eward-Mangione).
Correct C.Include all authors' last names, initial of first and middle (if applicable) names, AND the year of publication.
After answering the above question, show in the space below, under the heading References, how you would reference list the information in compliance with APA style rules as a reference (an article listing that would be attached to the end of one’s writing if one were using the article .
B. You will complete original work for this class. Research is important, but you must cite all your sources for all
Use APA formatting for in-text citations and reference page. You are expected to paraphrase and not use direct quotes. Deductions will be taken when direct quotes are used and found to be unnecessary;
5. Citations and References must be included to support the information within each topic area. Refer to the APA manual, Chapter 7, for examples of proper reference format. In-text citations are to be noted for all information contained in your paper that is not your original idea or thought. Ask yourself, “How do I know this?” and then cite the source. Scholarly sources are expected, which means using peer-reviewed journals and credible websites.
The writing in Bold refers to the Works Cited page where the info came from
I can see now I did not put the year no were, but I have listed the authors. In the APA format, I was supposed to list the authors with the year it was publish at the start. I am used to the MLA, which year goes at the end of the citation in an essay.
When you include a direct quotation or paraphrase referring to a specific passage in your paper, always include the author and year, as well as the page number, as part of the citation. APA requires the author, year, and page number for direct quotations and recommends providing the same information for paraphrases.
Cite in text the first few words of the reference list entry (usually the title) and the year. Use double quotation marks around the title or abbreviated title.: ("New Child Vaccine," 2001).
It is always important to give reference from where you have collected information, which we have used in our paper. Without proper reference, the information, which we represent on our paper, will not be graded and this may also fall under plagiarism act. Studying and understanding the citations of APA, mostly in in-text quotes will help us not to fall under plagiarism act. Any information, which has been paraphrased or briefed, should be cited properly if not then the writer’s work will have a risk of falling under plagiarism. APA Style helps me in not falling under
b. The deductions for late assignments is 2 point per day if not turned in.
