As a newly established service within the CCLHD the CCCC has seen significant growth in its first two years of operation. Change management was essential, particularly for administration staff, with new work practices, business processes, responsibilities and accountability, additional clinics, new work environment, divided roles within the Administration Team and multiple competing demands. Within my varied roles at the CCCC I have identified workplace issues such as excessive workload for the secretarial staff requiring a brief to establish an external typing service, with costing forecasts and service improvement measures. This issue also involved negotiation with workforce to ensure appropriate balance of workload for secretarial staff. As space is limited, electronic medical records allow the office space currently occupied by paper files to be utilised for further staffing enhancements. I have been instrumental in the implementation of new programs/resources for the clinical administration staff as a representative for Patient Services including the Patient Journey Board, Patient Flow Portal, EMR scheduling and PBRC for outpatient clinics, and Activity Based Funding applications.
