Burton accessed Law books while incarcerated and started filing his own legal motions, writing hundreds of letters proclaiming his innocence to elected officials. Burton obtained several affidavits from Simmons acquaintances who confirmed Simmons had admitted his perjury to them. In 2008, Centurion Ministries began investigating Darryl’s conviction, after this evidence investigators tried to located Walker however, could not interview Walker due to his death occurring in November 1996. Burton’s investigators tracked down Walker’s friend, Daniel Pennington who was drinking outside of another friend’s house near the Amoco station during the time of Ball’s murder. It was confirmed that Walker could of not identify the shooter since where they were standing, the shooting could not be seen and the fact that he had poor eyesight and never wore his glasses while drinking confirmed that he would have not been able to see the shooter due to different factors not being in his favor. …show more content…

He told them that the previous morning he saw her walking her dog at around 6:00 am and that she was wearing a sweatshirt even though it was humid outside. After hearing from Doug, the 911 operators informed the local police and the EMT. Both the police and the EMT arrived at the crime scene at 9:56 am. The police identified four possible suspects: Alex Garcia (Ms. Garcia´s ex-husband), Erica Piedmont (Alex´s new wife), Lucy Leffingwell (Ms, Garcia´s partner in business and best friend), and Doug Greene (Ms. Garcia´s neighbor and ex-boyfriend). There was a team working on finding out if any of the suspects were involved or not. The main problem/question was whether Ms.Garcia's death

Caratachea did not know his weapon was used in the murders and admitted to lending the weapon, a .22 rifle, to Doody a few weeks prior. Johnathan Doody is arrested and they find belongings from the temple in Alex Garcia’s parents’ house, where they are both staying. This messes everything the sheriffs have done up until this point up, horribly, because these two have the murder weapons and stolen property from the temple, yet the “Tuscon 4” have all confessed and are in custody. This brings to light the shady stuff the sheriff’s office pulled, and is a major factor in Sheriff Thomas J. Agnos losing reelection. Once these two start talking, it completely discredits everything that has happened so far in the investigation. These two kids from Aqua Fria High school have nothing to do with the other four. I believe that Alex Garcia and Johnathan Doody both played equal parts in the robbery and regardless of who decided to kill these people, they are both just as guilty. Alex Garcia claims Doody is the bad guy and set the entire thing up, insisting they leave no witness behind. I find it hard to believe when Garcia admits to killing a lone women in the forest in cold blood, and showing no empathy in doing so. I believe Doody was the one to set the heist up, because it was his family’s temple where
Investigator Sam Reilly will also be called to testify, in that he was the first investigator on the scene. Shortly after the murder, Officer Reilly went to the defendant’s home at 2435 Damen Street, apt #2B and forced down Mr. John Hudsons’ and Dale Buckner’s door. While at the apartment, Officer Reilly Recovered a .38 revolver (matching the gun from the crime scene), a black leather jacket, and a newly registered Black Cadillac Sedan; which matched the description of the getaway car. Due to officer Reilly’s work, pertinent details of the defendant’s background and belongings have been brought to trial and will help us prove that the defendants did, beyond a reasonable doubt murder, and assist in murdering Mrs. Sara Lazar. Upon arrest, the defendant’s both refused to make a statement concerning the killing of Mrs. Lazar.
Two people were killed as a result of the officer. Quintonio LeGrier, 19 years old, and 55-year-old Bettie Jones were both shot and killed. Reports state that LeGrier was acting oddly and was carrying a metal bat around his father’s apartment. His mother stated that he was a college student who was suffering from unknown mental health issues.
After the ballistics team had come to the conclusion that the gun was probably shot from four blocks away, Detective Healey and Doug Boyle start to go on an investigation. They had went door-to-door to question others to see if they knew anything about Charlie Ward’s death. When the police stopped at Michael’s house, they had asked the McKenzie family if they owned any firearms. Michael’s dad responded with a yes and was asked if he can show them. Michael then responded that he did not currently have his Winchester and said that his friend, Joe, borrowed it. A few days later, Doug Boyle and Detective Healey came back to Michael’s house with metal detectors to search the backyard for any evidence. While searching, Doug Boyle finds an empty casing
A man named Gerald Williams was arrested a week after the crime for an unrelated burglary, however Williams told police that he had information about the murder of Carter. Telling officers that he heard screaming from the park and saw a man swinging his arm over a body and stated that he saw a man with a crutch but later retracted this
The first witness shown on the stand in the documentary was James Stephens. He was the husband of the victim, Mary Ann Stephens. Mr. Stephens was the crucial witness in this case, because he was the only witness. He claimed in his testimony that Brenton Butler murdered Mary Ann Stephens three feet away from his face. Approximately three hours after the incident, he was able to identify Butler as the culprit from fifty feet away. However, the defense attorney was able to pick highlight multiple problems during the cross-examination. The entire incident took place within a five second window. The defendant was wearing a t-shirt with a prominent logo when he was arrested. Mr. Stephens did not mention the logo to police, and incorrectly stated that the shirt had a collar. It was later learned when a second suspect was arrested for the crime, that Mary Ann Stephens was shot after she spilled her coffee on the shooter. James Stephens never mentioned once mentioned this.
On the morning of the murder, police arrested Brenton Butler based on the identification by the victim’s husband. For hours to come after that, Butler became the victim of police brutality, a false confession, and unlawful interrogation processes. After being identified as the shooter, Butler was brought into the 10 by 10 interrogation room to be well, interrogated.
I, Demetrice Lishell Walker-Jackson, no longer want to be Mellow Deland Walker #256-23-8960 representative payee. Mellow would not comply with the positive decisions I made for her well-being. I moved Mellow from an unhealthy, mildew, barely furnished apartment into a furnished clean apartment that was affordable for Mellow in her price range. Mellow refused to sign for her gas, lights, and water to be transferred to the new apartment. Mellow refused to live in the apartment. I had to let the apartment go, but I informed social security on everything that was going on. Mellow wanted an apartment or house out of her price range, which was around $700.00 and up monthly.

During the investigation the three officers admitted to lying when they submitted drugs they found in Kathryn home. The three officers was charged manslaughter and sentence to five, six, and ten years.
After twenty minutes, Jennifer narrowed down the men to two possible suspects. There were certain characteristics of both men that matched the sketch and what Jennifer could remember several days ago when the incident occurred. Jennifer took a leap of faith and chose man number five, which was in fact Ronald Cotton. The authorities confirmed Cotton was who they also believed was the intruder that night. After that day at the station, Jennifer was convinced she had made the proper choice.
The frustrations I see in her piece is women being afraid to speak up in society, because what they have to say is just as important as what a guy has to say. She’s frustrated with how women weren’t treated the same in the work. Walker says, “Men were assured of the inviolability of their penis/power” and also says “Women were admonished to keep their experiences to themselves” (39). I believe she says this because men, in my opinion can say whatever is on their mind, but if a women would have said what the male has said they would get criticized and looked at differently. Walker is frustrated with the fact that men can voice their opinion and not get as criticized as much as women.
