Our studio isn’t content with giving students the same run-of-the-mill instruction they can find anywhere. We are passionate about offering truly excellent drum lessons to our neighbors in Frisco, Texas, and that’s why we focus on turning young drummers into complete musicians rather than mindless machines with sticks. We instruct students on how to practice wisely and efficiently to stay both sane and healthy--because after all, quality is better than quantity in music too. “Their progress can usually be predicted based not just on the amount of time they practice, but on how slowly and carefully they do it,” says Drummer Magazine. We tend

Like we said earlier, it’s because we want our students taking drum lessons to grow into complete musicians. One of the best things about music is the social aspect, and a drummer is essential in creating a meaningful artistic conversation amongst musicians. The jam sessions will help our drummers learn to collaborate with other musicians, and the other performing opportunities reinforce the whole reason we do music in the first place--to speak to
“In fact, by the age of twenty, the elite performers had each totaled ten thousand hours of practice. By contrast, the merely good students had totaled eight thousand hours, and the future music teachers had totaled just over four thousand hours.” The control we have over our lives is determined by our work ethic, willingness to achieve our goals, and to strive towards them. Gladwell provides a stronger case of evidence by using proven statistics. These statistics provide the evidence that practicing regularly, and for long amounts of time does pay off in the long
Jesse Willie argues in His article “Teaching Kids to Practice” that children are expecting results to show right away. Society today gives children results back right away because of the technology. Practicing music takes a long time but they get bored after a while of practicing and not getting any results. Willie's solution is that teachers should be making learning music a lot easier to do. Children can't process everything fast enough but if there was less work to do the it would be much more easier to do.
A Drum Major is a positive role-model; someone who others can look to as an enthusiastic and dedicated example. A Drum Major ultimately leads the band, and does so energetically and humbly. Respecting those around you and gaining the respect and trust of peers is essential. As Drum Major, one is expected to treat others with kindness and integrity. A Drum Major is someone who is fully involved and invested in their band and peers, and is someone who works to serve others. As a Drum Major, one must put the band first and support those around him or her. Effective communication skills are imperative, as a drum major must have an effective voice, yet also be an effective listener. A Drum Major
The drum majors’ jobs include leading rehearsals five day a week, organizing Saturday’s pep rallied, and bonding with their fellow band members. They also must be in control of the football game. This means they must know what is going on in the game at all time, in order to call for the appropriate songs or stadium cheers. The most difficult part of their job is providing their fans with the level of excellence and finesse that people expect of the Million Dollar
As my high school years come to an end, I've realized something about myself. Since I stepped foot in this school as an up and coming freshman I've noticed that the drum major truly captured my attention. It was like when little kids see someone cool on tv and think, “When I grow up, I'll be exactly like them.” That's exactly how I felt, when I became a senior I wanted to be that person. Finally the time has come for me to show that I am capable of being the best drum major Orland has ever seen.
The position of drum major is a vital role in the entire team of a marching band. As the 2017 drum majors we promise that we will have the band in mind when making decisions and when developing the best show possible. As a group we know that we posses the necessary qualities of a drum major.
USing both feet stomping with both heel and toes to create more speed once use to it. This makes beats in songs for james easier to play because it’s less working in the leg muscle and toes giving him a break in all of their songs. James has many inspirations in drummers but he is an inspiration to many people as well including me. James is my inspiration because he made modern drumming much more enjoyable to watch and to hear. He made it easier to play but much more complex for other people. Its not easy for most people but it’s possible to learn the ways he has made and the techniques he uses. Only taking hours of practice to master his wonderful techniques, he impresses the crowd every time he picks up his sticks and plays. He is a crowd pleaser and will never let his fans down. James will be the best one day as long as he keeps his motivation towards his drumming and the attitude to playing them. James motivated me to play my instrument because of the attitude he wakes with and sticks
Amy Chua always seems to have a feverish belief that her daughter should consistently practice and states that she wants them to “never missed a single day [of piano and violin practice],” (Chua 88). Chua’s belief is expressed in the following: “The Chinese model turns on achieving success,” said Amy Chua, “I knew that I had to make sure Lulu

Our seven piece kit is being sold at the same price as those offered by Pearl and Tama, while our eight piece kit is $100 cheaper than Tama’s eight piece kit. Ours is $50 more expensive than Pearl’s eight piece kit; however we feel our product to be vastly superior to theirs, and therefore do not anticipate this slight difference as being problematic. We will also be offering out 100 kits initially to established artists as endorsements. These kits will be distributed, free of charge, to 42 pre-selected musicians, in the hope that by being used by these artists, other musicians who are influenced by these drummers will be eager to also purchase a kit.
The role of a Drum Major is to be a bridge between the students and the directors helping to further the director’s awareness. Drum Majors also help the band operate effectively by doing behind the scenes work ensuring everyone’s preparedness. In concert season Drum Majors are to continue to give their utmost dedication to the directors as an example to others.
One of my best friends whose name is Brice is a drummer and an amateur sound tech. he has some serious skills on the drums, however he will not admit it. He can keep a steady tempo wither it’s a slow song or a fast song. He also adlibs almost every thang he plays. One of his biggest flaws is he is often times late to practices. He is an inspiration to me and a good
Practice isn’t the thing to do once you are good. It is the thing that makes you good. In the novel “Outliers", in the chapter “The 10,000 Hour Rule”, Gladwell introduces a theory that signifies that 10,000 hours is the approximate amount of practice time it takes for someone to become a master at something, and therefore likely to become a successful being. Gladwell backs up the theory by discussing a study that was performed around the 1990s by K. Anders Ericsson. In the study, Ericsson and his colleagues examined the long-term practicing habits of musicians at an elite musical academy in Berlin. Gladwell exposes the practicing habits of a few well-known successors to prove his theory such as, Bill Joy, The Beatles, and Bill Gates. Psychologist Michael Howe even applied the rule to Mozart, greatly considered a child prodigy.
My 2nd point is to explain how “modern” drumming began and what a modern drum set is ("Ringo starr," ).
I believe the greatest thing to ever happen to me was my snare drum, and I want to thank my teacher, Mr. Cantu for teaching me the correct techniques and teaching me how to practice. One thing that helps me in school was practicing because thanks to that I learned how to manage my time in studying. As a student in college I go back and I think about all the crazy times I had with my drum, and I enjoy thinking about them. But thanks to my parents who
