Bullying is a form of abuse. It comprises repeated acts over time and that involves a real or perceived imbalance of power with the more powerful individual or group abusing those who are less powerful. The power imbalance may be social power and/or physical power. The victim of bullying is sometimes referred to as a target.

Pope John Paul II once said “freedom consists not in doing what we like, but in having the right to do what we ought” and for over 1,050 years Polish citizens has executed the will of God not only in Poland itself but throughout the rest of the globe, especially in the United States. Catholicism has continued to be Poland’s honored religion for many years. According to the U.S Department of State, 96 percent of Poland recognizes itself as Roman Catholic. The country has stayed loyal to God even when their beliefs were questioned by outside forces or internal conflicts. Polish individuals have remained loyal to the religion and it is for that reason that the Polish nationality grows spiritually, mentally and psychically.

What is a bullying? Bullying is characterized by exposure to repeated negative actions from one or more students. Bullying can also be noted as aggression that involves power imbalance between the victim and the aggressor. Negative actions are described as deliberate efforts to harm or cause discomfort in others (Mundbjerg 2014). About one-third of young elementary children will experience bullying, either as the victim, the bully or the bully-victim (Verlinden, 2014).

Many people have had to deal with or known of a bully. Bullying is a term that I believe many people are aware of and could spot, but may not be able to define without consideration. My definition of bullying is based on preconceived notions that are derived from experience and outside sources, in particular media sources. Being the product of the public school system I was exposed to bullying whether from firsthand experience, rumors in school or participating in an act of bullying. These accounts occurred more than thirteen years ago and I have since only heard of bullying from occasional news reports. To me bullying is a pattern of aggressive action with mal intent intending to assert dominance.

Bullying, what does bullying mean? To me bullying means you make yourself feel better by putting someone else down. Bullying can be done over jealousy, popularity, revenge, or as a joke. It can be done verbally, physically, or over the internet. People continue to get bullied everywhere, on social media, at school, work, and on sports teams. Bullying occurs too much and this is my plan to end it.
