Unit 11 System analysis and design. System Analysis – System analysis is where the current system is studied in order for an improved alternative system which has resolved previous problems. Usually by mathematical means so that it may define the companies goals and purposes in order for them to discover the most efficient solutions. This is the principle of system analysis. The reason Ian’s and Cos need a new system as they have taken on a similar company as theirs (yet smaller), which employs technical support staff. Ian’s and cos have a centralised IT based support system which will observe, monitor and track progress the problems. It monitors the hardware such as the mouse, Here are some key drivers why Ian’s and Co’s may choose to have …show more content…

Why is it needed for an employee to be able to understand what system analysis is? This is so once the system is updated and improved that they are able to understand and adapt quickly to be able to fulfil the tasks quickly and efficiently. It would be recommended that Ian’s and Cos use the waterfall method. The waterfall model is the first ever process model that was introduced, it is also known as a linear sequential life cycle model. The waterfall method is easy to use and understand. With this waterfall method each step must be completed before the next step can commence. A system analysis would generally perform his job within steps (usually called the waterfall method) it would start with research; they check how the current system works. After researching how the current system works they would now analyse the system identifying what problems occur and how they would come to resolving them. Now they have identified the problems they would now design a new system which would have resolved them, after designing the system they would now put it into …show more content…

It uses various techniques when doing this such as; Logical data modelling, Data flow modelling and Entity behaviour modelling. It is there to improve their overall quality systems so that it may be more effective. Logical data modelling consist of identifying, modelling and documenting data for the system analysis gathering. The data is further categorized into entities and relationships. It involves logical data structure (could also be recognized as an Entity-Relationship model). Entities are vital information and records a business needs to know and LDS represents this as well as relationship (the links between entities). Date flow modelling consist of keeping watch on the data flow in an information system, It involves and consist of Data flow diagrams (DFDs), this represents the processes and function of the system for data stores (files and data storage), external entities (devices which receive or send data into a system) and data movement (shows the movement of data around the
