Shmuel does nothing towards Bruno’s ignorance and innocents just because he doesn't want to brought back to reality, his new friend is his escape to reality. Bruno is still innocent and ignorant but relies that it would be the best if he would lie about his new friend Shmuel just because the fact that Bruno found that found him first and that it was HIS friend. Bruno being a young boy doesn’t understand why the physical separation of the 2 boys and who it relates to his father’s job nor the war.
Bruno always went to see Schmuel even though he knew it could be dangerous. “Bruno: Maybe I should go. Schmuel: What about my papa? Bruno: yeah.”(The Boy in the Striped Pajamas). Bruno stayed to help Schmuel to help find his father. Bruno chose to say and help because he knew how important it was to find Schmuel’s father. Even though Bruno and schmuel didn’t have the closest relationship, they still meant a lot to each other because they only had each other to be friends with. Bruno wasn't able to help Schmuel ,but he still tried and that meant a lot to
Friendship is a basic human need, especially for nine year old boys living their childhood. For Bruno who is lonely, bored out of his mind and could not find friends his age to play with and Shmuel a Jewish boy entrapped in a brutal concentration camp, their friendship is one of the only things that can spark a little happiness and lighten up their spirit. The boys meet in the least possible place – the periphery of Auschwitz concentration camp, where one is imprisoned and the other is the son of the Nazi commandant in charge. Although they are meant to see each other as enemies as a Jew and Nazi, there is no hatred between Bruno and Shmuel. They simply see each other as another kid to talk to out of the loneliness of Auschwitz. As the book
Bruno’s mom and sister leave his father and they are all sad that they will never see Bruno
He explored and found a fence that he thought it was a farm. He meets a boy called Shmuel. Bruno finds out that they were born on the same day, april 15th 1934. After a few months Shmuel appears to have a black eye and Bruno thought it was just a bully. It was really lieutenant Kotler who beats the Jews.
Bruno was very oblivious to the things that were taking place around him. Although he was oblivious to the big picture he still had a feeling that he should not communicate with Shmuel, which is why he denied knowing him. Yet he was brave enough to sneak out of the house to visit Shmuel at what he believed was a “Farm.” In reality, this
The author is able to build a mood throughout the story by using the narrative technique of tone. It changes from the beginning to the end of the story. In the beginning of the story, Bruno is sad and angry that he is leaving behind his three best friends. He is arguing with his mom about it. “Say goodbye to Karl and Daniel and Martin? He continued, his voice coming dangerously close to shouting.” (pg. 7) This demonstrates how mad and angry Bruno is about moving. By the tone that Bruno is using when talking to his mother, it shows that he doesn’t want to leave them behind. This builds a mood for the story and makes the reader feel sorry for Bruno. In the middle of the story, after Bruno and Shmuel have become great friends, Bruno finds Shmuel inside his house polishing the glasses. Shmuel
The main conflict in The Boy in the Striped Pajamas is Bruno vs. His Innocence with the conflict being Person vs. Self. Bruno’s innocence has gotten others in trouble such as Shmuel when he convinced him to eat food while he was at Bruno’s house (169) and that Kotler wouldn’t mind. Bruno didn’t understand the consequences and when Kotler started screaming, that’s when he realizes that he did something wrong and hurt someone as the consequence. Hurting someone seems to be a theme in Bruno’s problem because he decides that it would be a great idea to switch sides of the fence to hang out with Shmuel and look for Shmuel’s father (198). What he doesn’t know is how this decision will change his and his family’s lives for the worse with great grief
Bruno finds out he is not allowed to explore the back of the house or its surroundings, and his father is very stern in forbidding him to do so. Due to the combination of curiosity and boredom, he decides to explore. He spots a boy on the other side of the fence. Excited that there might be a boy his age, Bruno introduces himself, blissfully unaware of the situation on the other side of the fence. The Jewish boy's name is Shmuel. He was taken from his family and forced to work in Auschwitz. Almost every day, they meet at the same spot. Soon, they become best friends. Bruno and Shmuel even shared the same birthday. They are basically the same person born into different circumstances, one a Polish Jew, the other a German. He, across the book shows a great deal of naivety whilst his friend Shmuel seems to have more knowledge of his surrounding as he has felt the suffering first-hand.
After a while, Bruno's mother is less happy in the new house and Bruno's father tells him that he and his sister Gretel and mother will go back to Berlin. Bruno and Shmuel are both very sad that they can not see each other. Bruno decision the last time he Shmuel still
In the story The boy in the striped pajamas there is a little boy name Bruno and he makes friends with a Jude the boy name is shmuel. Shmuel is a great friend to Bruno even though Bruno told a lie about him giving food to shmuel I think Bruno didn’t try to protect his friend when Shmuel is attacked by Lieutenant Kotler is because he was so scare of what Lieutenant did to the servant. Bruno didn’t have the courage to stand up for his friend even though that he really did want to. Before Bruno moved to the new house he had a best friend named Berlin Berlin and Bruno was able to play with each other. But shmuel and Bruno had to keep there friendship a secret.
He spots nothing much but as soon as he decides to leave, he sees a young boy in “striped pyjamas” like everyone else there. He later found out his name is Shmuel. Every afternoon he would meet Shmuel at the fence and one time brought him a pocket full of food from the kitchen. Bruno shows his innocence to the world when he complains that his life is worse than Shmuel. Bruno confuses him because life on the other side of the fence is terrible.
The second struggle in Bruno 's and Shmuel’s friendship is their need to overcome their differences in the family background. One day, Bruno decided to talk about how they came to be in Auschwitz. When Shmuel starts talking about how he got here.He said that, “The train was horrible," said Shmuel. There were too many of us in the carriages for one thing. And there was no air to breathe.” “That 's because you all crowded onto one train,”said Bruno.... “When we came here, there was another one on the other side of the platform, but no one seemed to see it. That was the one we got.” (129-130). When Bruno talks about
The next day where its raining and extremely muddy Bruno went to meetup with Shmuel at the fence to go on the search for Shmuel’s father . Finally Bruno was on the opposite side of the fence , as he was sneaking around trying to blend in with other people he never saw nothing like that seeing everyone looking miserable and skinny.
he finally has someone to talk to for once rather him sitting all alone contemplating everything he has in his mind and bugging his father, he finally has someone to express his emotions to. This decision changed Bruno as he would after wards continue a conversation with the boy and they would both share each other’s stories. If it wasn’t enough Bruno was now bringing food to the boy that is “Shmuel” without anyone’s permission. But this wouldn’t be the last change Bruno goes through as now Bruno will cross all lines and take the most drastic measure in the
