Einstein was born March 14, 1879, in Ulm Germany. Einstein's mother and father are, Hermann Einstein and Pauline Koch Einstein. EInstein was very slow to learn to speak. His parents thought he may be retarded. Einstein started violin lessons at age 6. At age 6 Einstein attended school at Petersschule on Blumenstraße. At age 10 he attended school at Luitpold gymnasium in Munich. As a boy Einstein’s teachers called him slow and lazy. At the age of 15 his teacher said that there was nothing left to teach him. In 1893 Einstein's family moved to Italy. In 1896 he finished high school in Aarau, Switzerland. Einstein relied on other students notes because he often skipped classes. He received his diploma in 1896. Albert Einstein never allowed obstacles …show more content…
citizen in 1940. He spoke out against war and violence. In 1939 Einstein learned that two German chemists had split the atom of uranium. This led him to write a letter to President Franklin D, Roosevelt explaining that this could lead to Germany’s development of an atomic bomb. He urged Franklin D. Roosevelt for the U.S to start up it’s own research on the atomic bomb. In 1945 the suggestions Einstein gave led to the Manhattan Project and the first two U.S atomic bombs. In 1930 Einstein developed a refrigerator that received a U.S patent. Einstein's refrigerator design used ammonia, butane, water and little energy to cool instead of freon like we use today. Scientist are now looking at Einstein's research to construct a refrigerator model like his that would be more eco-friendly. The element einsteinium was discovered in 1952 and was named in honor of Albert Einstein. When the holocaust came and Albert had to leave, Albert and other scientist were trying to warn people about Germany’s secret weapon also know as the nuclear bomb. People thought that he was crazy. Albert published 4 scientific papers that helped us understand the universe. The topics of these papers were Brownian movement or the zig-zag movement of microscopic particles. This helped him prove the existence of atoms and molecules. The second published paper was about the quantum theory of light. This said that light is composed of packets of energy called quanta or photons, these have some properties of waves. Also in this paper he explained the photoelectric effect. The next published paper (the third paper) discussed the special theory of relativity. This explained that time and motion a related as long as the speed of light remains constant. The fourth published paper talked about the link between mass and energy, this is where he discussed the famous equation of E=mc2. This formula demonstrates that a small particle of matter contains an enormous amount of energy. This
Einstein's letter, telling the P.O.T.U.S. of the uranium deposits over the world, and how they could be used in the war with the making of bombs, was written on August 2nd, 1939. Einstein tells the President of the experiments of people who most likely work with him, on the work of uranium, a very radioactive material. He says they can be used for energy in the immediate future, and the audience knows this because Albert Einstein says,”... that the element
Albert Einstein was a theoretical physicist that contributed important theories in the field of modern physics. He was born on March 14, 1879 in Ulm, Germany to a middle class Jewish family. Albert Einstein did not only make impacts in the scientific world, he also contributed to the political world. Einstein was a pacifist man who was a member of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People. He fought for the Civil rights of African Americans. He was in favor of socialism and was a critical viewer of capitalism. When World War II began in 1939, Einstein immigrated to the United States to seek refuge from the Nazis. In America, he was a genius. He supported the Allied Forces (United States, Soviet Union, United Kingdom and China), but was against incorporating science as a weapon for war. “The Manhattan Project” consisted of a group of scientists that developed nuclear weapons to stop the Nazis, the Japanese Empire, and Italy. The creation of the Manhattan Project was credited to Albert Einstein after he alerted President Franklin D. Roosevelt of the potential dangerous oppositional powers that were developing. After World War II ended, on December 10, 1945, Einstein delivered his speech “The Political Aftermath of the Atomic Bomb” at the Fifth Nobel Anniversary Dinner. His audience consisted of scientists, doctors, politicians and other people involved in these fields of science and politics. Additionally, the audience included nominees and winners of the
Albert Einstein was undoubtedly one of the geniuses of the twentieth century. His work with gravity, relativity, light, and the universe helped to herald in a golden age for the study of science, of which scientists are still marveling at and studying today. Additionally, he was well-known for his participation in the Manhattan Project and the construction of the two atomic bombs. Along with numerous other scientists such as Fermi and Szilard, Einstein came to the realization that Nazi Germany was on its way to constructing
On July 16, 1945, the Nuclear Bomb had went off; changing the world forever. Although the explosion lasted less than a minute, the process to get there was tedious and left a taint mark in Los Alamos, New Mexico.
Firstly, Albert Einstein was born in Ulm, Württemberg in Germany on March 14, 1879 to parents, Hermann Einstein and Pauline Koch along with his younger sister Maja Einstein (biography.com). Einstein's family was jewish, but they didn’t practice the beliefs (biography.com). Einstein attended elementary school at luitpold
Albert Einstein did not directly participate in the manufacturing of the atomic bomb, but his research and theories were critical to advancing its development. The atomic bombs built back during World War 2 that were dropped on Japan depended on nuclear fission to create their explosions. Nuclear fission is the splitting of a heavy atom into smaller pieces. This process releases an enormous amount of energy. The bomb (Little Boy) dropped over Hiroshima worked by firing a mass of uranium-235 into another mass of uranium-235, which created a chain reaction. The bomb (Fat Man) dropped over Nagasaki worked by placing plutonium-239 into the center of a hollowed-out sphere of intense explosive devices. These explosive devices would be triggered
Albert Einstein was born in Ulm, in the Kingdom of Wüttemberg in the German Empire, on March 14, 1879. He was an Ashkenazi Jew that attended a Catholic elementary school in Munich from the age of 5 for three years. At the age of 8, Albert was transferred to Luitpold Gymnasium (now known as the Alber Einstein Gymnasium). This is where he had received advanced primary and secondary school education. He had left the German Empire seven years later. Due his father losing his job, the Einstein family moved to Italy in search of jobs. Einstein continued to
If Albert Einstein had foreseen the aftermath of his weaponry, he would surely have torn up his work, in an effort to save not only those in Japan, but the rest of humanity itself. The atomic bombings that took place in these two cities sent off a wake up call, to the entire world. The United States was able to put forth a worthy image of themselves, and show off their massive power and destructive abilities. But should they have? This is where “With great power, comes great responsibility,” comes into play. Many believe that possessing inevitable power shouldn’t always lead you to use it. There may be other strategies to get your point across. Destruction and pain will always send a message, and it will open everyone’s eyes. However, something
The reason why his parents left Germany because Albert’s father was a businessman so his father had a business in Milan. So Albert stayed in Germany just to finish high school. But in school Einstein was only good in math and science but in the other subjects he was not good at. Then Albert quit high school in Germany and also lost his German citizenship and went to Switzerland to finish high school. After finishing high school Albert applied for a college called Swiss Federal Polytechnic Institute. The first Einstein took the exam he failed. Einstein waited a year to take the exam again and this time he passed the exam. Albert later started to study math and science with some people that later became his friends. Einstein graduated out of college in 1900 but the two years that came were too difficult for Albert. He wanted to teach math and science in college but never found a job in a college. Lucky in 1902 Albert got a job in Swiss patent office. It was a place that where people could their ideas and the people that worked there to make the new
Both Albert Einstein and Ernest Rutherford helped pave the way for countries to invent the nuclear weapon. Einstein’s Theory of Special Relativity and Rutherford’s discovery of the atomic nucleus all helped the United States to invent the bomb. In the book by Andrew Futter, the United States began their experimenting on nuclear weapons with the Manhattan Project. The Manhattan Project- so called because the initial headquarters were on the Manhattan district of New York City- began in 1942 with the sole purpose of creating an atomic bomb before Nazi Germany. (Futter 17) Work on the project was spread out all over the country; the main research center would be located at Los Alamos in the New Mexico desert. There were two lines of research,
Albert Einstein was born on March 15, 1879, in the southern Germany city Ulm. Both of Einstein’s parents were Jewish, although they did not strictly practice the religion. As a adolescent he was very dull, in fact his parents first thought he might have been mentally challenged because he
The Manhattan Project was preceded by a variety of scientific discoveries in the 1920’s and the 1930’s. During this time of scientific discovery, Hitler had been steadily rising to power in Germany, and before long, physicist Leo Szilard and fellow Hungarian Jews Eugene Wigner and Edward Teller became worried. They decided that the President of the United States must be informed about the new fission technology that had been discovered, which they believed was capable of making bombs. The three physicists enlisted the help of Albert Einstein, the foremost scientist in that period, and together they drafted a
The birth of the Atomic bombs was during WWII, when the nations around the world were fighting against each other, due to disagreements between one another. At the beginning of the war, America was at a stalemate because they did not want to get involved in the war. Even though they were not involved in the war they were helping friendly allies with food supplies and ammunition. And then there was island to the east of the Korean peninsula, also known as Japan, who suddenly decided to send a full blown aerial attack on american territory. In december 7, 1941 Japan launched a full blown attack on Pearl Harbor, an American naval base. This was the turning point of WWII because this spark America to enter into a war. What the enemy did not know, was that the U.S. had a secret under their hands, and that was the weapon that would bring an end the war. An According to the Encyclopaedia Britannica. Encyclopaedia Britannica Online. the first Atomic Bomb was build in Los Alamos New Mexico during WWII under the Manhattan Project ("Atomic Bomb." Encyclopaedia Britannica”). But after the bombs were drop the suffering of the Umany people, gave way for the questioning of the actions, some of these questions were : was it the right thing to do, what effect it had in the places that the bomb were dropped, how was America affected before, during, after and the bombs were dropped, what effect did the people had after experiencing the explosion, but the most important
“If the radiance of a thousand suns were to burst at once into the sky, that would be like the splendor of the mighty one.” – Robert Oppenheimer. The Manhattan Project was the research and making of the world’s first atomic weapons. This was a major asset that led the U.S into beating Japan and caused the war to cumulate. The Manhattan Project brought nations together, took the necessary measure to end World War II, and gave America multiple industrial advancements used in modern day warfare.
ALBERT EINSTEIN Albert Einstein was born March 14, 1879 in Germany. His family owned a small business that manufactured electric machinery. The business failed and they left Germany. Albert was fifteen years old and he dropped out of school. When Albert was five when he received his first compass and he began to investigate the world. Little did he know that that compass would make him famous.
