The song is about expressing what it feels like to be a youth in America and trying to fit in with a society of people who just “wanna go faster, faster, faster, until you burnout.” The song is cynical towards corporation’s absolute power, yet the song is catchy with a fast beat. The line of “were not driving, were just hitching a ride,” is repeated in the chorus to show how people are just going with the rapid pace of life which questioning authority or companies. Then the protest song shifts to be very direct at the end “the whole world now we can barely service, were not driving were just hitching a ride.” The track is heavy yet energetic that drives the song at a fast speed which encompasses the punky vocals which is similar to the duo’s past songs of “Locked in a Cage” and “Bands” from their last EP …show more content…
Train which is the soft side of the spectrum for the EP. The track starts with soft piano and leaves each listener with a relative high school romance feeling. The music video is a great love song which so many people can relate to about the feeling of wanting to run away fro tour love. The music video embodies this idea, by acting out over 16 different famous movies scenes of love from Titanic, It's a Wonderful Life, Breakfast at Tiffany's, Dirty Dancing, and American Beauty. This is a different path from Brick + Mortar from their movie like videos for Bangs and Locked in a Cage, which are full of blood, violence, and real dark themes. The music video for “Locked in Cage” features Brandon trying to escape from a mental induction, and “Bangs” is about is a short film of a crime about kidnapping, toured, and stealing. The other side of the spectrum is songs like Dark Skies and Brighter than the sun. Brighter the Sun is as far as one can get away from romance as it is a protest song against society and

The most notable influence would be from Africa, this has been broke up into three categories dance, religious, and work/entertainment. Religious music has been influenced by Kumina, Pocomania, and Rastafari. This music is usually accompanied by drums and chanting, songs can also include singing and other instruments. Other forms of music that are becoming popular on the island are rocksteady, ska, soca, calypso, and jazz. In Kingston the fusions of the 90’s continue to influence the 21st century and has created a new sound led by producers Sly Robbie, Steven McGregor (son of Freddie McGregor), Daseca, Skatta Burrell, and Don Bennett. All these men have all forged a new mixture of hip-hop,
First, they use the image of the restless soul. This evokes the feeling of frustration. They take it further with images of “Exploding egos” that “Mix like sticks of dynamite.” Although they cannot truly understand the struggle, their moral or ethical nature does not agree with the injustice that is suffered by others, and this is exhibited in their lyrics.

The Shop around the Corner is a romantic comedy directed by Ernst Lubitsch. The film follows a group of shop clerks at a general store called Matuschek and Company. Two shop clerks, Klara Novak and Alfred Kralik, disagree on everything and ridicule each other anytime possible. What they do not know is that they have been exchanging love letters to each other anonymously. Throughout the course of the film the two fall in love with each other and by the end it is presumed that they will get engaged. Aside from the charming dialogue and wonderful cinematography, the four elements of mise-en-scene enhance the heart-warming emotion evoked throughout the film.
This week we learned about many genres of music, some similar some different. The two genres I want to compare and contrast are Rock and Blues. When you hear rock music, you picture electric guitars, amplified sounds, and complex styles of play. But if you take a deeper look you would probably be surprised to learn that rock would not even have existed without simple 12-bar forms, antiphonal textures, or “walking bass lines” used in much blues music. Though Rock and Blues are distinctly different they have a lot of similarities that most likely go unnoticed. Rock and Blues were developed at almost the same exact time around the late 19th century. Blues originated from African American folk music and like Blues, rock music style can also be
The song expresses how people are not living up to society's values and norms. It suggest that the socialization is at fault and that they contribute to improvement of self being. The song implies the way society goes against values and norms by one of the very first lyrics in the song. The lyric goes, “What’s wrong with the world, mama, People livin’ like they ain’t got no mamas…” (lines 1-2). This makes one aware of the lack of values in one's family. Values is the belief or an idea that a person or group has to determine is correct or not. Another verse of how the band shows one disobedience of the values and norms comes toward the middle of the song. “People killin', people dyin’, Children hurt and you hear them cryin, Can you practice what you preach, And would you turn the other cheek…” (lines 50-53). These verses show of society has failed to act stable and logical way that society once viewed as correct living. These actions show that citizens have not lived up to the expectations of society. Social norms are likes the laws of society. Laws are things that are illegal behaviour and norms are like behaving in a way society wouldn’t like. For example being in gangs, like the bloods, or the crips, or a big group that goes against society's norms like racial groups. An example of a racial group would be the KKK.

Music is often just a medium, utilized by artists, to paint a vivid picture in the minds of the listener. As a listener, often you can be caught off guard by the artists ability to do so. In the song fast car by Tracy Chapman, the incredible singer/songwriter will do just that. She will render an image so graphic, and so dramatic, that you will swear that you were walking in the shoes of the woman she sings about in her song. The gracefully flowing melody and emotionally evolving lyrics transport you through an undeniably extraordinary journey of joy and sorrow, all within the confines of a four minute and fifty-nine second song.
With so many coincidences, the bands also have their contrasting factors. The Beatles on one hand were largely public, acquiring names such as the Quarry Men, instead Pink Floyd was underground and frolicked with names like T-Set or Abdabs. Large differences between the two bands are their rises in popularity. For Pink Floyd’s underground scene, they were not at the peak of their popularity in America until the early seventies; The Beatles were into the Pop Culture which gave them leeway to high popularity. The war and Counterculture provided the Beatles a great opportunity to experiment with their music, while Pink Floyd changed largely because Barrett wanted to try mystique music which suited the culture a smidge better than the blues. Because the controversial rises of fame, the bands trademark movies were created in totally different generations; “Yellow Submarine” was released in 1968, Pink Floyd’s “The Wall” was released in 1982. This presents why their strikingly similar reputations
