Skin color can be used to depict one's economical status. People who have darker skin tend to be seen as having a lower economical and social status (Brazil Guide). Because foreigners do not completely know Brazil or Brazilian culture, if these topics are brought up Brazilians will think you are a stereotypical “gringo,” which is a Portuguese term for foreigners (Mello). Politics is a very sensitive topic and should be avoided as Brazil has a history of violence, corruption, politic disorder. This year's Olympics will be held in Rio de Janeiro, but there is constant violence, theft, and the new Zika virus that has everybody worried. Personal questions, like economical and social status should be refrained. Also, avoid any topic relating to Argentina, as the country is seen as Brazil's rival …show more content…
Some people might find it either too intimate or weird that someone is slapping their back, but to the Brazilians' it is a common way to greet people (Brazil Guide). Brazilians' body language can be a bit touchy. Touching of the arms, elbows, and backs is typical and they like to stand really close to each other (Brazil-Cultural Etiquette). To a lot of people, that gesture might be too much because their personal space is being invaded. If someone is too close, we usually move away to create more space, but to the Brazilians' that action may be seen as being disrespectful or a sign of rejection. If you are uncomfortable with their actions or if you are from a country where there are strict restrictions to any sort of body contact, just kindly explain to them your situation

Salvador de Bahia was the first capital of Brazil and is definitely the city that played a major role of making Brazil the country it is today. In addition, Salvador was the first city that opened a slave market in the New World starting from 1558. Salvador witnessed the mix of different cultures and experienced different types of migrations for more than four centuries. Including Jewish and Dutch migration waves, European and African and Amerindian cultures all mixed up in one place.
Brazilian paintings began in the late 16th century, influenced by the Baroque style from Portugal. This style was dominant in Brazil and spread all over the country until the 19th century. In the 19th century the Brazilians broke off from the Baroque tradition and moved towards the Neoclassical style following the European academies. In 1816, the King John VI supported creating a national academy for art. They then founded a school named The Imperial Academy of Fine Arts, and began teaching different styles of art such as Neoclassicism, Romanticism, and Realism. These styles would be the basis for the production of a large amount of canvases describing the nation's history, battle scenes, landscapes, portraits, genre painting, and still lifes,
The Federative Republic of Brazil uses the amended constitution of 1988. There are three branches of government: executive, judicial, and legislative. The president, whom is also the commander in chief of the military, leads the executive branch; the president chooses the cabinet. Both the president and vice president are elected at the same time every four years. The vice president assumes the presidency while the president is traveling abroad. The judicial branch is separate from the government; the highest court is the Supreme Federal Court, consisting of 11 justices selected by the president and approved by the Senate. The justices serve until retirement set at age 70. There subordinate courts are: “Federal Appeals Court, Superior Court of Justice, Superior Electoral Court, regional federal courts; state court system.” (CIA, 2014). The legislative branch is the federal senate, with 81 seats elected by majority vote

Brazil, also known as the Federative Republic of Brazil, is one of the largest countries in South America. Brazil is not only the largest country by land measures but also by population. Approximately 200,000,000 people live within Brazil’s borders. The capital of Brazil is Brasilia which holds 2,000,000 of the countries citizens. The official language of Brazil is Portuguese.
In Brazil, Gilliams introduces this idea that reality is really what you can get away with, but because of the highly controlled nature of the society in which Sam and the other characters find themselves, what you can get away with is what the system prescribes. Bright colored posters and advertisements (a state propaganda) and mass-produced fantasies make you lust after the concept of eternal youth, material wealth and power. People live in almost too civilized society in which they depend highly on machines and technology, which in turn causes more damages to the system. In a quite absurd society such as this, what is considered normal is also different. Torture, killings and explosions have become a daily activity like how you do shopping, eat or sleep.
Brazil is located in Eastern South America and borders the Atlantic Ocean. Brazil is very comparable to the USA, being only slightly smaller in size. The economy is well-developed in agriculture, mining, manufacturing, and service sectors, and it has an expanding middle class. Brazil was under Portuguese rule until it gained independence in 1822 and maintained a monarchical system of government until the abolition of slavery in 1888.
A part of the beautiful beaches and tourist destinations, Brazil have an interesting history and culture. I was studying in my Sociology class that the way we see a race here in the U.S. is different than the way Brazilian see that all races in Brazil are a mixture of Black, white and Native People there. They do not categorize people into groups. The intermingled of Europeans, Asians, Africans and Native Americans transform Brazil in becoming the melting pot of South America. They have a carnival classed as being one of the best in the world. They also have an interesting cuisine. The Amazonian forest and the people who live there is also something I would like to study about. The African roots and European touch that creates Samba, Bossa nova music is amazing. Their love of soccer is something that would like to understand the origins for it is my favorite sport. Brazil is rich in term in all the sense of the

Until the latest political scandal surfaced in early May, there was growing consensus that Brazil’s economy was in for a hopeful awakening. A combination of decreasing political noise, steady implementation of market-friendly reforms and significantly improved economic policy was reviving business and consumer confidence, deepening disinflation and lifting asset prices. Indeed, discussions were about the rate of GDP growth in 2017 and beyond in the context of different estimates of potential output.
Some argue that this is the most popular dish in Brazil. People in Brazil typically make meals from scratch, because they do not want to spend money on frozen foods.
