He picks the places based on the accounts he follows. He follows accounts that keep up to date on so scouting. To put a picture together he looks for the right light and keep it kind of neutral. He shoots a lot of depth photos and the background is super blurred. He mostly gets inspired by images when he sees one he will screenshot it or save it and use it as inspiration there isn’t a specific artist he’s inspired by. He loves photos that have that feel good sense and expression in the photos, the ones you cane relate to it or it can remind you of a good time in your life or something that you’re going through. His thought of it is cool to be able to hold something that has a memory behind it. Alex Kotlowitz met Lafeyette and Pharoah Rivers in 1985 while working as a journalist. He was interviewing them for a photo essay in Chicago magazine on children living in poverty. The violence that occurred every day where the brothers lived in Governor Henry Horner Homes, or Horner, disturbed Kotlowitz. Lafeyette and Pharoah are 12 and 9 years old at the start of the book but have experienced more than many kids their age. The boys did not seem sure of what life held for them. Lafeyette told Kotlowitz, “If I grow up, I’d like to be a bus driver,” Lafeyette was not sure that he would grow up at just 10 years old (x). I went to the Spectrum art gallery to go observe the photography. The art gallery displayed the work of two photographers, Jonathan Rollins and Patrick W. Rhames. Jonathan Rollins photography’s theme was eclectic perspective. His photography was both in color and in black and white. Rollins work was also more based on nature, unlike Rhames’ photography. In his photography there were a lot of pictures of National Parks such as, Yellowstone and Yosemite. On the other hand, Patrick W. Rhames photography’s theme was Wandering in Archival Pigment. Brandon Odums also known as “Bmike” is a local artists from New Orleans that has made a great impact not only in his community, but also around the country. Mr.Odums says that when he was younger he was always doodling. He went to highschool school at NOCCA. After that he attended college and studied film. Later after college he went on to work, filming music videos for rappers in New Orleans and he did this for eight years. Mr.Odums says found an apartment complex after Katrina where he started doing some artwork in the space. As time started passing and people saw the artwork more artists started to come in, and contribute by creating their own artwork.In result the place became a beacon for art.
