Dracula as a theme has been around for a while now, yet he still has the ability to influence the gothic culture. Everything from hit books and movies like Dracula Untold to popular television shows like True Blood originate from this classic tale of blood-lust and demons. The vast majority are drawn directly from Bram Stoker’s novel. Yet many movies like: “Dracula” (1931), “Dracula” (1979), “Nosferatu: Phantom der Nacht” (1979), “Bram Stroker’s Dracula” (1992) are based on the Dracula theme. But could we say that 1992 version by Coppola is good adaptation to the novel? In the following paragraphs, I will explain how this adaptation of the novel is accurate. I’ll explain by showing multiple similarities and between the plots in the book vs the movie, things and scenes which made the movie faithful to the book its self and what they could’ve fixed to make it a better interpretation. …show more content…

Just like the novel, the movie talk about a young lawyer (Jonathan Harker) that’s assigned to a dark village in eastern Europe. He is captured and imprisoned by vampire Dracula, who travels to London, inspired by a picture of Harker's beloved, Mina Murray. In England, Dracula begins a reign of terror, draining the life from Mina's closest friend, Lucy. Lucy's friends join together to try to drive Dracula away. Stoker used journal entries, letters and newspaper to tell dark tale. This use of multiple narrators is shown in Coppola’s vision, and he even manages to change characters throughout the movie (like in the book).
