Pitbulls, and Boxers are alike in most aspects but are not at the same time. Boxers, and Pits are awesome dogs and can be to with the right training, and knowledge of them. There are many things to tell the apart but people are to quick to stop and think along with take a good look at the dog and realize the difference between the two dogs. To help with that here are some facts on their differences and similarities, and how to tell them apart.

Gene Luen Yang is the 2017 recipient of the St. Katharine Drexel Award. Yang began making comics and graphic novels in the fifth grade. In 2006, his book American Born Chinese was published by First Second Books. It became the first graphic novel to be nominated for a National Book Award and the first to win the American Library Association’s Printz Award. It also won an Eisner Award for Best Graphic Album.In 2013, First Second Books released Boxers & Saints, a two-volume graphic novel about the Boxer Rebellion. Boxers & Saints was nominated for a National Book Award and won the L.A. Times Book Prize. He has done a number of other comics, including Dark Horse Comics’ continuation of the popular Nickelodeon cartoon Avatar: The Last Airbender

Throughout Boxers and Saints by Gene Luen Yang, the idea of justice is perpetually dwelled upon. Yang conveys his stories through dual characters: Bao, a Boxer, and Vibiana, a Chinese Christian. They both carry out feats that can either be recognized as justified or not; however, it is nearly impossible to differentiate between the two without fully comprehending the story and recognizing that the reader most often agrees with the individuals who are compassionate. Thus, through the actions of characters and a pattern of one’s death leading to another’s survival, Yang proves that justice is served only to those who show compassion.

Since I was a kid I have always wanted to box and when I got older my parents finally let me box. They thought that I was going to be irresponsible and cause problems but then the summer going into ninth grade my father let me start boxing. I started off learning the basics simple combinations and how to move my feet the right way. I loved boxing at first then I grew to hate it as it got more difficult for me. My father wanted me to stay in boxing so I could learn to defend myself, but I didn’t care. In the later nineteenth century, China was being invaded by the western civilizations. These western civilizations had already beaten the Chinese imperial army. From the day I was born I was destined to be a leader. Being the oldest in my family I was raised to be an example for my younger brothers and cousins in school and out of school. At an early age I was put into sports, and at the age of seven I fell in love with the sport of boxing. Boxing is a major part of my life, it has taught me many skills such as self-discipline , hard work, confidence and the ability to make decisions quickly. For many years boxing was the main focus in my life, and I was very successful winning two belts at the desert showdown in Palm Springs, California and competing in National Tournaments like the Junior Olympics and the Silver Gloves.

Throughout the article and even if I didn't agree Boxer kept her pieces of evidence and her messages very clear, so I never forgot what she was genuinely writing about. With all of that being said she was accurate upon proving her thesis, with this being said that doesn't mean that I agreed with it but she did use examples to prove it. She gave many examples to show that what she was trying to prove or show was actually true in more movies than we think rather than just giving one example like most authors tend to do to prove a point. Her examples were all movies which in my opinion were the best examples since the whole point of her article had to do with movies. Boxing as a sport dates back 4-5000 years, but was much different from the boxing we have come to know and makes present day boxing seem tame in comparison. Added to the Olympics in 688 BC, a boxer’s only protection was strips of soft ox-hide wrapped around the hand. The strips, called himantes, were about ten to twelve feet in length. The fingertips and thumb were uncovered, the knuckle portion had layers of hard and sharp leather added to make the blows more devastating, and the inside used wool to protect the hand. The Roman invention of the caestus, a boxing glove reinforced with iron and lead, transformed the Greek art of boxing into an even more vicious battle. There were no time limits in these bouts and fights ended by submission or death. Often held in outdoor, makeshift stadiums, fighters would jockey for position to lead their opponents into the glare of the sun, thereby blinding them and rendering them defenseless for the moment.
