Water is the most valuable resource on earth and comes from several sources including the aquifer, springs, and oceans. Today we have the luxury of just turning on the tap for water or twisting off the lid of bottled water. A question of late has been which is better for a person to consume; tap or bottled? If you consider convenience and purity, the clear choice is bottled water. The convenience of bottled water over tap water is how portable the bottle makes the water. Recyclable plastic bottles are clean and sanitary. The water bottle eliminates the need to sterilize your own bottles while on the go. In fact, according to the International Bottled Water Association (IBWA), “By federal law, FDA regulations governing the safety and quality of bottled water must be at least as strong as the EPA regulations that govern tap water. And in some cases, the bottled water regulations are more stringent.” (www.bottledwater.org) With that said, it stands to reason that the quality of bottled water is just as closely monitored as its counterpart, tap water. The FDA regularly inspects bottled water plants and takes samples of the product for analysis. Some argue that the cost of bottled water is just not worth it. While tap water is just pennies per serving, bottled water can be purchased in bulk which does reduce the cost overall.
An added benefit is that the packaging allows for long term storage. Sometimes convenience is worth a little extra. As discussed, bottled water is a clear choice in maintaining hydration needs due to its many benefits such as portability, convenience, and purity. The following quote from
