In the world of modern technology there are many ways to keep one entertained and informed. Two of the best ways are through the reading of books, and the watching of movies: both are eternal works of art designed for those who would wish to momentarily leave the existent of reality and dive into a world unknown or to question the known world through stories of factual relevance. Both take the entertained on a journey that has been created in the minds of a genius, but, it is the way they take the entertained into their imagery worlds that are different. Books, for example require the reader to use there imagination to mentally visualize the image the author is trying to perceive. Movies, on the other hand, will have the audience mesmerized as the picture comes to life right before their eyes. Both books and movies are great evening actives …show more content…
Books are the fathers of movies: Books came before movies, and (most) movies get there content from books the director has read. Take the "Harry Potter" series for example, the first book (Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone) was created in 1995, the movie, however, was created in 2001. The books and the movies never tell the same story: Directors will always have to cut out some content from the movie just so they can complete the making of the movie whereas the books will always tell you more of the story. Take "Eargon" for example, in the movie after he finds the dragon egg and brings it back to the barn it begins to hatch, however in the books Eargon tries to sell it to the town butcher who is about to buy it until Eargon tells him it's from the Spine (a mountain range that separate's his hometown of Carvahll, and the outside world), Eargon then
Starting with the similarities, the first similarity between the book and the movie are the characters. For example, in both the book and movie, Chingachgook is a Native American, and he has a tomahawk. Hawkeye is a white man. He appears to have a knife and buckskin leggings also. The last of the the examples of the character similarities are Alice and Cora. The two are sisters, and Alice is the younger sister. As you can see from these examples, the characters do have similarities in both the book and movie.
After reading the novel and watching the movie the novel is better. These are the reasons why. First, Kenny is different in the movie than in book. Second, Byron has a way different personality in the book than in the movie. Last, Grandma sands is just way different in the movie that in the book.
Of course there are always similarities between books and their corresponding movie. However, certain differences always occur since some scenes just don’t work in movies.
Books and movies are full of aspects that seem similar and opposite of one another. Worldwide and infamous, Harry Potter is a franchise which began as a series of novels in the late 1990’s. Years after, they were transformed into films which spread across nations. It is not only Harry Potter. There are endless imaginations created by stories and shared between books and movies.
Books can be extremely detailed and pictures are painted for the reader by words. Sometimes directors try to transfer these books into movies. This is a very hard process as words written in a book cannot always be performed in a reasonable amount of time for a movie. These movies often sell the book short and there are differences, sometimes major changes between the book and movie.
In my opinion the book and movie both give a historically accurate description of the struggles of people during their times. Although I did not live during these times, the book creates a connection between the reader and the family’s experiences. Anyone can learn many things from how living was during the Great Depression by simply reading this story or watching the movie. It teaches many lessons on how you live. Personally, I learned many important concepts.
Ever heard the line, “The book is always better than the movie.”? In truth, even though they have many similarities, and the movie is often based on the book, they cannot be truly ranked the same way. The movies usually have, in the case of Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone (Philosopher's Stone in England), have many different non-human and human characters, use altered or completely different lines, and whole scenes may be changed completely or cut out. Yet, just because the movie is very different than the book does not mean that there are no similarities between the two, such as; human characters, places, and whole scenes.
The more I watch movies and read books, the more I see the two as totally different art forms. They both evoke special types of pleasure and satisfaction. In telling the story from a visual and sound perception, it offers several aspects take on the original work.
Thesis: The novel The Reader by Bernhard Schlink and the motion picture adapted from the novel are diverse in many different ways. While both the film and the novel explore Hana’s character and explore her relationship with Michael, many differences can be seen. In the movie and novel, The Reader, the director and the author battle the idea of love and justification in Michael and Hana’s relationship and envision Hana’s character to be drastically different.
the movie was to as interesting ad the book and the book had way more details than the movie. The one thing I liked about the movie was that you can actually see what is happening and the book you have to image it but you do not have to do that in the movie.
When a book transfers over to a film much of the content is usually lost. It is a very tough feat to keep everything that was in the book in tact and still portray the same effect. When a reader reads a novel, they take their time and they get involved with the characters and learn about them. When a viewer watches a movie, the director needs to pump out as much information as he can in two hours and still stay within the parameters of the book. What happens most of the time due to budget or time constraint is not everything from the book is transferred over to the film, which causes gaps in the story. Also, directors need to find actors that can portray the feelings of the character and at the same time complete the look of the character. Sometimes one thing is sacrificed for another and the character is not as magnificent on screen as they were in the book. The fact that the book loses a lot of content prevents many directors from trying to adapt books into film, but there are directors that try. When writing a story and writing a screenplay the two are very much alike but at the same time very different. A screenplay is basically a movie on paper. Everything that happens on the screen would be put into words, from camera movement to dialogue. For example here is the opening sequence to The
Some people say the movies are the way to the heart,is that true?I'll prove why not!
For many years Hollywood has been making blockbuster movies based on bestselling novels, but often these movies differ greatly from the novel . The movie The Power of One based on a book of the same name follows this trend. The Power of One tells the story of Peekay, a boy living in South Africa who dreams of becoming the welterweight champion of the world, and who tries to correct the injustice that goes on around him. Although the movie does keep the main themes of the novel like racism and how one person can change the world. The film adds new plot twists and characters that make the story more exciting, but also changes important characters and storylines from the
I think people are starting to realize how many potential great movies are “lost” in the written word so producer, writers, and directors are turning to them for ideas; fulfilling the dreams of avid readers. Movies that are made from books give you a visual picture that helps you to see things in a new or different light. Because there is a visual picture you don’t have to spend as much time imagining how things might look; the century, the clothes worn, and the color of their hair; it’s already done for you. One of the things I hate the most about movies that are based on a novel is the detail that is lost and the rewriting of characters or key
People are always looking for good ways to entertain themselves. Over the past few hundred years, several art forms have become a commonplace in society, such as plays, music, drawings, books, and, more recently, movies. Books and movies are two that have stomped their way into society with no remorse. They have been great ways to express people’s opinions, make social statements, and most importantly, entertain audiences. Both of these have had a profound effect on the world, whether it be through changing a way of life or just by making time pass for a few hours. Certain books and movies have played great roles in the world and had many influences. The Lord of the Rings has had a massively positive effect on both literature and film. Its creation has led to many positives and in doing so has become one of the most influential stories ever created. It has also led to some major impacts outside of literature and the film industry as well.
