I read The Notebook by Nicholas Sparks, a 250 page novel published on October 1, 1996. This book can be classified as realistic fiction, but is considered to be a romance novel due to the heart pulling plot line of two star-crossed lovers. My attention was caught quickly when I saw this book, because I had watched the movie with my girlfriend which motivated me to read it. It took me about three days to read behind Mrs. Kosters desk, each day during the same week; it was a quick and easy read. This work was completely fiction; however, Sparks was inspired by his wife's beloved grandparents. They had spent over sixty years together, with their story being shared with Sparks and his wife, inspiration from their love made its way into the book. Noah comes back, after fighting in World War ll, to his home in New Bern, Carolina. Where he spends his days building a house to distract himself from remencising on a girl he fell in love with over a summer shared together. Allie, who is about to get married, stumbles upon a newspaper with Noah on it; curiousity gets the best of her and she decides to visit him. Both have been separated for fourteen years due to social class, with Allie coming from a wealthy family, and Noah who worked at a lumberyard. Reuniting brings out a tidal wave of emotions and memories that have been long locked away from both of them, with Noah being in bewilderment and saying “I still can’t believe it’s you. How did you find me?” (Sparks 39). Allie slowly

Novels can do many things to the reader, they can make them feel countless different ways and a multitude of emotions, some books address one to a problem that was unknown to them before. Novels can make one aware of the severity of a problem that they did not know was very serious before. Furthermore, novels can also inspire and give readers hope about something they thought was hopeless. At the same time it can ignite a passion in the reader that they did not know existed. These spectacular Novels leave a lasting impression on one and can change their prospective on a given topic. Novels like Zoo, this is a book that can do all of those flawlessly. Zoo, by James Patterson and Michael Ledwidge, is an intriguing novel that shows the resilience
Clutching his cup of coffee, casually taking sips every now and then at a Starbucks, one of his favorite places to hang out and talk to friends, or to just observe the outside world, sits an elderly man, with an infectious smile, Keith Ambrose. A Renaissance man – a man who can do anything; he’s been all over the world, has friends of all demographics, even knows famous tennis player John Lloyd and actress Susan George, has held priceless pieces of art while working at Windsor Castle at only sixteen, and he still runs marathons at the ripe age of 72. The main character in the book Divergent is a girl named Beatrice. Beatrice is developed throughout the book by having to do things that push her out of her comfort zone. Beatrice was born in the faction of Abnegation, where everything is simple and alike. Abnegation values selflessness, but Beatrice doesn’t feel like she is selfless. She decides to change to the faction of Dauntless, who values courage. Beatrice has to do things like jump off trains, and fight people to show she is courageous. She decides to start going byTris, because Beatrice won’t fit in with the dauntless. When Beatrice makes the decision to be a dauntless she says “My fathers eyes burn into mine with a look of accusation’. This is because it was selfish of
S.E. Hinton, the author of the Outsiders once stated this, “It seemed funny to me that the sunset she saw from her patio and the one I saw from the back steps was the same one. Maybe the two different worlds we lived in weren’t so different. We saw the same sunset.” Furthermore, there is a feud going on between the greasers, and the Socs. The two groups, both have been fighting for over a while now. But this quote stated means that these two groups aren’t that different. From their rumbles, and disagreements, there is no reason to fight.
One of the factors that give an outstanding book its place is the connection that the author builds between the reader and the characters of the story. This is what happens in the book Delirium by Lauren Oliver. She created this characters that started to grow with the reader. While living in a society that believes that love is a disease, the characters need to find a way to run out into The Wilds and start living a new life filled with love. Throughout the book it can be noticed the way the main character changes her mind over various things, the importance of character development, thoughts exchanged between the reader and the character, and how the ending of the book was a total shock compared to the beginning.
A number of strange incidents occur throughout the story. Jack finds a wasps' nest while maintaining the roof, uses an appropriate wasp bomb on it, and puts it in Danny's room. That night, although Jack had checked there were no wasps still in the nest, Danny is stung several times, and when Jack manages to put a bowl over the nest, there are many wasps trapped inside. Then in an almost hypnotic fit after spending too much time going through the hotel's papers in the boiler room, Jack smashes the radio, effectively cutting them off from the rest of the world as snow has fallen heavily, and reaching the nearest town has become impossible except by snowmobile.
The first chapter of “The Maze Runner” really gets me excited for the rest of the book. I enjoy how it leaves the reader plenty of room to wonder what will happen later in the book. It has an interesting vocabulary that includes some of the slang words that the people of the glade made up. It seems that the plot of the book will quicken very quickly as already there is a lot of foreshadowing hinting toward some unknown beast and a giant maze. I predict that Thomas’s arrival will trigger some sort of issue that he will have to resolve. Just the first chapter has gotten me very excited for the rest of the book.
Ally is at a bridal shop when her mother shows her the paper where it had talked about her wedding being the biggest event of the year. It is then that Ally opens the paper and sees Noah standing next to the house when she faints. This is when Ally decides to leave and go back to Seabrook to see Noah and the gorgeous home he has restored, which is the seen I have chosen to analyze.
Nicholas Sparks was born on December 31, 1965, in Omaha, Nebraska (Jessica Estremera). He was the second of three children born to Patrick Sparks, a college professor, and his wife Jill. Nicholas spent the early part of his childhood moving around with his family as his father finished up his graduate work (Biography Channel website). "Because my father was a student until I was 9 years old and my mother didn't work, we weren't exactly living the high life when I was little. I grew up on powdered milk and ate tons of potatoes, though to be honest, I never noticed how poor we really were until I was old enough to take an honest appraisal of things. Even then, it didn't matter. For the most part, I had a wonderful childhood
The Notebook is one of my favorite love movies of all time. The reason I love this movie so much is because that main characters Noah and Allie go through so many trials and finally end up together in the end. This movie I feel shows me how strong their love for each other really was and I now feel as if it is meant to be it will always find a way. Looking at the movie as a reference to get a better understanding of how lifespan development works, I realized that most of the trials that Noah and Allie went though were part of stages of development. The theory of stages of development was created by Erik Erikson, he believes that we go though certain stages in our life and if we do not get passed them properly we will end up with
“My wife, my family, my friends - they've all taught me things about love and what that emotion really means. In a nutshell, loving someone is about giving, not receiving.” said Nicholas Sparks. Sparks went through many tragedies as a kid. He lost both parents growing up, though Sparks saw that as an influence to use in his writing. His parents taught him many things as a child, that helped him become the writer he is today.
