Book Reports On Night By Elie Wiesel

In 1944, a twelve –year-old Elie Wiesel, in the village of Sighet, spends a lot of time thinking about the Jewish faith. He has an instructor named Moshe the Beadle, he returned from a near death experience, and warns people in the village that Nazis will soon come to their village and mess up the peace in the village. No one listens and soon people under Hitler’s rule force the Jews of the town and into supervised ghettos. Though Elie’s family remains calm, in the spring they are shipped into the final convoy to the Auschwitz and Birkenau death and concentration camps. Eighty some villagers on this convoy have to survive with little food and water. The prisoners were sorted out to see who could work for the Nazi’s and who would be killed.

In the memoir, Night, by Elie Wiesel, gives you an overview of how the Jews were treated in the Holocaust. Many rights of the Jews were violated during the Holocaust. For example, when the Jews were first taken to the concentration camps, they were stripped of their clothes and anything of value. Another example, is that when they were put on the train, they were all fighting each other for the food and stealing from each other. Finally another example, was they were all crammed into small areas with a lot of people and even bodies of dead people and had very small amounts of food and water, pretty much only enough to keep them alive.

Upon arrival at the concentration camps 75% of people were killed. The memoir Night by Elie Wiesel was a book about his time in the concentration camps during World War One. Elie wrote this book so we could not be quiet about what happened to the jews and so history would not repeat itself. Elie Wiesel used his faith to fight for humanity during the holocaust and the rest of his life.

Title: The title Night refers to the consistent night metaphor Elie Wiesel employs throughout the book. "Night" refers to the darkness of life, mind, and soul experienced by all who suffered in Nazi concentration camps during World War II. Elie and his family are taken away on a dark night, which is why I think that Elie referred to the title Night as a terrible time because of all the bad things that happened to him and his family during the night-time and to the many other Jews.

Moreover, his only hope becomes to stay with his old father and be with him as they transfer from one camp to the next. There he perceives the destruction of humanity and also faces extreme cruelty. Elie talks about the death of his family members and therefore how he changes as an individual. Throughout various experiences and in extreme situations, humans can persevere. People survive when they have a desire to live and someone along their journey. They do not lose hope in life and keep their faith. Most importantly, they show courage and do not relinquish in difficult situations. Humans can endure extreme suffering by having companionship, remaining faithful in life, and being valiant in the situation.

Night by Elie Wiesel was published in 1955 and narrates the author’s personal experiences during the Holocaust. Young Elie Wiesel recounts his struggles as he was forced into various concentration camps through his writing. The events that are written in Wiesel’s Night exemplify the brutality evident during the 1940’s Nazi Era. Eliezar Wiesel was born on on September 30, 1928, in Sighet, Transylvania, now Romania. He attended a nearby yeshiva, a Jewish institution that studies traditional religious texts, until he was fifteen years old.

Elies’s experience “ And that is why I swore never to be silent whenever and wherever human beings endure suffering and humiliation” (Wiesel 118). Elie Wiesel believes one should stand up for what he thinks is right. Elie Wiesel stands up to what he thinks is right by writing about his experience in the Holocaust in the book Night. Night is about Elie Wiesel's experiences and hardships that he goes through in a concentration camp for Jews.

When Elie first started to learn his religion, he was thirteen, he didn’t know his place in the world and was too young to understand life. Throughout the story you see Elie questioning God and questioning his faith, as he endures punishment bye the hands of his oppressors. Elie is forced to grow up fast or die.

People’s experience shapes their identity and their outlook on life. Traumatic events can cause mental illnesses such as PTSD or depression, and negatively affects people’s view of the world; however, survivors felt that it’s their moral obligation to educate people so their experiences will become meaningful. In the novel Night by Elie Wiesel and other survivor stories, traumatic events dehumanized people and made them question their faith.

The book “Night” by Elie Wiesel is an emotional read. He tells his story in hopes to influence the world to not act so hateful to one another. He wants to bring awareness to his readers. The way Wiesel interprets his memoire is powerful. Elie goes into great detail about the events that took place in the concentration camp. He describes the way they were treated and their struggle to survive. He explains his story with good attribute to the Germans.

Elie coped with distress ever since he stepped foot in camp. Elie’s identity changes from faithful to fearful because he puts trying to keep himself alive and fear before his religion. His identity starts to change when he enters the camp and realizes what was being done. Weisel speculates, “How was it possible that men, women, and children were being burned and the world kept silent,”(32). Primarily, Elie was absurd with the fact that in the camps there was such a thing as a crematorium and that it burned people, innocent people, to ashes.

Some people think of night as Just When the sun goes down, but night in the period of the Holocaust resembles death darkness and defeat. the Holocaust was a period that started after World War 1 on January of 1933 and ended on May 8th of 1945. Around 11 million people were killed including the sick and disabled first. Why does Elie keep saying night fell what is the significance of night? My essay addresses the prompt in three paragraphs. One Elie always falls back to the Night two in literature bad things always happen at night and three night resembles a dark period such as the Holocaust.
