I am currently a freshman at the College of Charleston and my life so far has been great! College life is quite a transition from high school, but I am definately enjoying it. The first few weeks of this semester were kind of a struggle for me because I was away from home and had to figure out how to do everything by myself. In addition to that I had to get in the routine of classes, network with new friends, and get familiar with the campus. I am also involved with our school’s Bonner Leader Program, which is a four-year civic leadership and development program highlighted by regular training and reflection activities, along with the requirement of 200 service hours per year. Through this program, I got the opportunity of interning with Coastal
College has always been a dream of mine and I am sure for many others it has been too. Well, I am finally here, I can not contain my excitement. So many new experiences and things to learn, it is all becoming so real. This semester I hope to get to know at least one of my professors, go to every single one of my classes without being late, always read the required texts and do all of my outside of class assignments on time. By getting to know one of my professors, I can talk to them and ask questions to see how they were able to get where they are today. After all, they have been in my shoes before and clearly know exactly what it takes to become the successful adult I hope to become. Going to class has already
My name is Sarah Braunlich. I grew up in a small town named Poland, NY and attended a small high school in the same area. Growing up, I had always dreamed big and hoped to see the world that I knew existed outside of my small rural town. That was how I knew I had made the right choice when I decided to attend SUNY New Paltz. In my short time here, I have seen new places, met so many unique individuals, and I am excited to spend the next four years here. In high school, I always made an effort to get involved through clubs such as Government, Peer Leaders, Drama Club, Tri-M Music Club, Concert/Jazz Band etc. and I plan to do the same here at New Paltz. Currently, I am a biology major because my passion lies in medicine and helping
College is a life changing adventure, and I want it to be the best experience I can possibly receive. Attending Medgar Evers College, I have set high hopes and expectations. I hope to interact with people of diverse ethnicity. I want to learn more about different cultures and the individualization of people. And so far getting to know people on campus has been one of my greatest experiences. I have met so many wonderfully different people here. I hope to develop more independence. To be more responsible for keeping up with my schoolwork, preparing for tests, and making most out of my classes, even when they start early. Being successful in college is about more than handing your work in on time and passing classes. It’s about staying motivated. I know for a fact there will be a lot of demanding of my time. I know that procrastinating is not the best way of approaching situations. It is my responsibility to try to regularly motivate myself, even if it’s pulling
I am Brenda Gomez, a seventeen year old senior at Valley View High School. High school has contributed in my development as an individual. Throughout high school, I have been able to grow from many experiences, met many people and work towards on my goal to be the first high school graduate in my family. I started my first year at Valley View my senior year. The previous school I attended was Segerstrom High School, which is located in Santa Ana. It was an extremely difficult transition because I was raised there, but over time I adapted to the new environment. It will be a year since my move from Santa Ana to Moreno Valley in May. Next year, I plan to go to college. I decided to receive my general education at Moreno Valley College then, transfer
This semester I was a lot more involved than the previous semester. After settling down and getting used to the college atmosphere. I found that there was a lot more to do and get involved with than I previously thought. Some of things things I got involved with range from sporting events, class snapchat, major spotlight, career service (job shadows), dome concerts, union trivia, art exhibition, and UNI research studies. While participating in these activities I gained friends, experience, and memorizes. These activities made freshman year fly by and also gave me a feeling of what it is like to be a Panther. Also just experience a few things that UNI has to offer.
My undergraduate experience was nothing short of enriching and empowering. I transferred to Messiah during my sophomore year and quickly found my passion for accounting. I packed four years of accounting coursework into two and a half years, and managed to graduate a semester early with 150 credits. In February of 2016, I began my career in auditing at a small firm
The program is both social and academic. I was too ambitious to productive during my last summer of high school. Thus, despite being financially struggle, I tried my best to use my savings to attend the program, with the help of tuition scholarships. In here, I built great connections with faculties and friends, whom I still stay in contact and who are helping me with my academic endeavor. Being an on child who was raised protectively in home and never allow to go on field trip, I thought this was a unique program that allows me to gain independence being far away from home and support myself. The program taught me how to get along with roommates and how to be friends with different people before my real college life started. In the beginning, I shed blood and tears, missing my parents so much. However, I knew that the most difficult obstacle to overcome is overcoming myself. New Start gave a new effect on my work ethic because of the experience I had with college students’ team work and with the conference that I presented. The transition to college became easier a few months
Now that I have completed my first half of the semester in Montclair State University, I feel like I have accomplished a lot within these past few weeks. My goals for this semester was to start off academically strong, make new friends, trying new things, find a major, and getting out of my comfort zone. So far, I have accomplished more than half of my goals. I am doing well in my classes, exploring new places, and I met the greatest group of people I can be friends with.
I am attending Wilmington University because I want to make my future brighter. I hear some people complain they don’t like how there life is going, but they don’t do anything to make there life better. I don’t want to complain about my life not going well, I want Last year was an emotionally tough year for my family. My pap passed away last year, and I did not get a chance to show him what I am going to do with my life. I told myself that I would accomplish many things in 2015.
Seeing as I am a freshman, I can only discuss my expectations and notions for the coming year. Currently, my emotions swing on a pendulum between anxiety and eagerness, but I am pleased to admit the latter outweighs the former. I am enthused to live on my own, nervous about making friends, and expect collegiate academia to challenge me exceptionally more than high school, which I understand and fully accept.
I have been a student at Citrus College since the Summer of 2014. Every semester has been a growing experience for myself as a person whether it's been good or bad, but I never stopped persevering my goal of reaching a university because of the amazing support system I've found on campus. Growing up in single parent household my mom had always stressed the importance of education, yet I felt like school wasn't for me. It was a chore, that here at Citrus College has turned into a pleasure. I feel at home whether I'm out running with the Cross Country team or at the Real Estate club banging out our next campus activity. It makes it easy to want to give my academics my best because I don't want to let down all the people around me who have invested
Currently, as a junior, I feel that the past three of high school have tremendously shaped my character. Arriving at the doorsteps of Manatee High School, I knew little of leadership, or service. To me, high school was and still is a journey. I've learned to give back to those who have helped me. Through various extracurricular activities, I've not only learned to be a team member, but a leader as well.
am now on my 4th semester here at Galveston College, majoring in Nursing. All I have to
I had missed a great ordeal at school, academically and socially. Luckily for me, my counselor was able to register me to take all the classes I missed over that period online the following year! Due to this action, my Sophomore year has consisted of me taking all my normal Sophomore classes every day at school, and then working on the five remaining online classes in my spare time. After going through all of this turmoil, I am exceedingly proud to say that by the end of the second trimester this school year, I will have completed all five of my online classes from last year in addition to my normal course load! This school year, I was also able to return to the school band and color guard as well as joining the “Toasters” speech club, and I will be inducted into the “National Honors Society” this spring. When I first envisioned my freshman year of high school way back when, that daydream did not include hospital visits and feeding tubes. It was filled with school dances, my first homecoming, new classes- new freedoms; However, looking back on it all, I am thankful for the experience that I was given to conquer. I was able to grow intellectually as a person and further appreciate life more than ever before, and I would not trade my life experiences for anything.
I feel that I have grown exponentially my first semester at UMD. Reading the letter I wrote to myself at the beginning of the semester, I realized that I didn’t have anything extraordinary to say to myself. The person I have evolved into over the past months is a lot more aware of the future and how the actions I make truly do affect those around me. Also, academically, I have learned about the educational system, the life around us, and how to relieve stress in my life. I can apply this knowledge my life and teach others about what I have learned. I am so blessed to have received an outstanding education.
