Some people believe that the Black Lives Matter movement was created to say that White (or other races’) lives do not matter. Since BLM has been created, “All lives matter” has been a response from many. What is it about “Black Lives Matter” that makes people respond with Statement? No one was ever heard saying “all lives matter” before the BLM Movement was created. This shows that the operative word is “Black” and has caused the initial reaction of “Well, they aren’t the only ones that matter!” Despite what many people

Recently, BLM has recognized the issue of the North Dakota Access Pipeline. In North Dakota, thousands of Native Americans have protested the pipeline that would cross into their sacred burial grounds and pollute their water. The pipeline would cross into the Missouri River, the main water source for the Standing Rock Sioux Tribe. Along side of the Indigenous protesters is the BLM network. The BLM network has traveled to North Dakota to protest the construction of the pipeline as they understand that not only is this targeting Indigenous people , but the environment as well. Chemicals in the materials used to build these pipelines are also used in water containment and sanitation plants in Black communities like Flint, Michigan, another issue that has yet to be resolved (http://Blacklivesmatter.com/solidarity-with-standing-rock). BLM is in solidarity with the North Dakota Access Pipeline protesters. These protesters are not only fighting for their rights as indigenous people, but fighting for our natural right to access clean …show more content…
Johnson was an Army Reserve Afghan Veteran. Johnson was mad over police killings of Black men and aimed to kill white people, specifically white police officers. The shootout happened after a BLM protest against the killings of Alton Sterling and Philando Castile (http://www.cnn.com/2016/07/08/us/philando-castile-alton-sterling-protests). The protest happening was a peaceful protest and had no relations to the shooting. It makes sense that people are angry for the injustices that have occurred in the Black community. Nonetheless, a single person’s actions does not represent a community or a movement as a whole. Protesters actually discourage hate towards police
In the Black Lives Matter movement, we simply try to encourage and show others that our lives matter. This movement advocates justice, peace and fairness.
The Black Lives Matter (BLM) Movement is a movement against police brutality. This movement began after 17-year-old boy, Trayvon Martin was fatally shot, and his killer, former police officer, George Zimmerman was acquitted for the crime. (BLACKLIVESMATTER.COM) As Black Lives Matter has continued to make a difference through peaceful protests on a mass scale , such as kneeling during the national anthem at sporting events or peaceful protests after a shooting. Many have claimed that the movement is extremely offensive, against police officers, or that African Americans are claiming superiority over other races, while others continue to support the movement. The fight between Blue Lives Matter, All Lives Matter, and Black Lives Matter continuously strikes violent riots, but the question still stands- what is the Black Lives Matter movement really trying to accomplish?
BLM is a movement created in 2012 by Alicia Garza, Patrisse Cullors, and Opal Tometi. Black lives matter is a movement that stand for black rights, they want to reassure that black people will not be racially profiled by the police. Unfortunately this is something that we see in society but some find the name of the movement to be degrading towards others. People who believe in the all lives matter movement believe that “All” lives matter and that the police should be respected (outside source). This controversy is currently tearing our country apart because no middle ground can be
The BLM movement is trying to make their race more important. The BLM movement isn’t trying to let any race partake in their situation. President Trump says this "How can you apologize when you say 'Black Lives Matter,' which is true, 'White Lives Matter,' which is true, 'All Lives Matter,' which is true," Trump asked. "And then they [Black Lives Matter activists] get angry because you said 'white' and 'all' - 'We don't want you to mention that”(Trump). This is showing how black people don't want other people to butt into what they have going on, just like one of my peers said “Why go to a breast cancer walk, and protest about brain cancer”. I feel as if this is selfish in many ways you should speak about anything in everything. Nothing should be left out just because one's not as important then the other, every race should be publicized just like how the BLM movement is.
A necessary and common fight for equality has been one that has survived throughout all of man’s existence. Due to recent racial divide and the product of racial profiling, a movement has risen up to combat these common issues. The most recent and most well-covered is the Black Lives Matter Movement. Even though it has been lauded by some media sources and individuals as the next great movement to champion for civil rights, the Black Lives Matter movement is not the same as the African-American Civil Rights Movement of the 1960s nor is it likely to be as successful. If the Black Lives Matter Movement continues with discrepancies in ideology, lack of clear leadership, and trends of hate, the movement is doomed to fail.
The statement “black lives matter” fueled the start of a movement. When this movement began people were in need of healing when everyone’s morale was low and gave black people in America hope that their lives did matter. Everyone

Alicia Garza, Patrisse Cullors, and Opal Tometi created a movement centered towards black Americans which later turned into Black Live Matter. Those three leaders came together in 2013 after the Trayvon Martin case that devastated the black community. Black Live Matter, also known as BLM, became an organization that has a mission to give power and a voice to violence inflicted on Black communities. So many black injustices went unnoticed and ignored, but this group will not stand to let that happen again. Injustice to the black community is what causes so many protests and movements that make the Black Lives Matter organization stronger than ever. .
Why did the Black Lives Matter movement begin? How did it come about? Is systematic oppression towards blacks a real enough issue in the United States in order for them to raise concern? Along with police brutality? And discrimination? They simply cannot just be made up concepts. For that reason, Black Lives Matter was coincidentally created. Black Lives Matter is a social movement that desires to bring attention that black lives matter, too. I believe the movement wants to acknowledge that black people too deserve the justice they are currently not receiving. The Black Lives Matter movement, being as pro-black as it is, does not and will never mean another race is valued less than that of a black life. The movement simply wants to gain
Alicia Garza's “Why Black Lives Matter” speech was made to give everyone awareness of what’s been happening in America and how black people are victimized by police brutality, harassment, murder, and racism. This speech was made to make people aware of the movement that they are making to stop the discrimination against black people and how they want to make a change. The speech also explains how they will not give up about making a change in the world of discriminating people, and for that, they have to raise their voices and make their movement loud and strong. The movement is used to stop the white supremacy and its people. The Black Lives Matter movement was founded in 2013, and was founded by 3 people, Alicia Garza, Opal Tometi and Patrisse
The Black Lives Matter movement has swept across America. It 's branched out with chapters in over 31 cities and held rallies and boycotts across the United States(Sidner). The Black Lives Matter movement started with the outrage of the death of a young man. It continues to take over headlines and raise awareness on police brutality and inequality. However, the movement has met resistance from the All Lives Matter group. This group thinks that Black Lives Matter is a movement to express hatred towards other races. However, statistics, the views of fellow citizens, and the overall purpose of the Black Lives Matter movement, can prove that the movement wasn 't meant to express hate on other races and that we need to support the movement instead of going against it.

While there were many documented cases of police brutality before Michael Brown’s death, this was the one that truly popularized the Black Lives Matter Movement (Acosta).
