A Biological Science Administrator falls under the National Science Foundation (NSF). The NSF is an independent federal agency that is not under any cabinet. While there is no secretary there is a 25 member board which is also a policy advisor to the President and Congress. Created in 1950 the NSF supports all fields of fundamental science from geology and astronomy to zoology. They also identify U.S. pioneers in these fields. The NSF does not hire researchers directly they, “support” researchers through their home institutions (colleges or universities). As a Biological Science Administrator I will be managing research and other scientific activities through federal grants and contracts. Contracts are from academic and/or non-profit organizations.
