Many People today are spending lots of time on computers. Computer programs have made things easier to do. They help to get tasks done in a quick manner. Bill Gates has helped make these things happen. Throughout his lifetime, Bill Gates greatly advanced the technological area-making it easier to do tasks and he has helped many people around the world so that they can pursue an excellent life like his.

Many people wonder what could have made Gates become what he is today. The answer is his family and friends. Gates was born on October 28, 1955, in Seattle, Washington. Gates saw himself spending most of his time on a computer. Allen had spent two years at a university, but he dropped out. Allen had gone to Boston, Massachusetts, to work for Honeywell while still staying in touch with Gates. When Gates dropped out from Harvard University, he joined Allen in Honeywell.

During this time, Allen showed Gates an article on a mini computer kit by Micro Instrumentation and Telemetry Systems (MITS). Later on, they contacted MITS and told them that they were working on a BASIC software program that could run the computer. MITS was interested, so Allen and Gates spent two months finishing the program. MITS accepted it and Allen and Gates formed a partnership called Micro-soft. Later on, they got rid of the hyphen and called it Microsoft.

After a while of working for MITS, Gates noticed that only 10 percent of people that are using the BASIC software program paid for it. The program was being pirated. He sent a letter out saying that developers would not spend so much time and money on quality software if people keep pirating it and not paying for it. Later on, the owner of MITS, Ed Roberts, sold the company and Allen and Gates had to sue the new owner to retain their software rights. Microsoft parted from MITS and moved to Bellevue,
