“I wish I could be a hero!” Many adults in today’s society hear small children wishing they could become heroes. Children wish to be more like heroes for the reason that heroes are the type of people who risk their lives to help others. Throughout history, children have had a positive connotation with the word “hero.” The heroes many small children talk about are the fictional ones who protect cities from villains: Superman, Batman, Spiderman, and others. However, these are not the only types of heroes in today’s world. Firefighters and policemen are also considered heroes because they save the lives of those in danger. Many adults consider their inspirations to be heroes, such as Mahatma Gandhi, Martin

Hobbits are peculiar creatures. They are short, barefooted, jolly folk who love to eat, sing, and be merry. However, they "have no use for adventures" (Tolkien 12) and prefer not to involve themselves with those that do. Bilbo Baggins, on the other hand, comes from a long line of rebellious hobbits, who craved adventure. Despite his introvert life, Bilbo cannot avoid adventure when it tumbles into his hobbit hole. The novel, The Hobbit, supplies a fictional account of the positive and negative outcomes produced by fluctuating self-esteem and the Law of Attraction throughout a young hobbits adventure through Middle Earth.
The main character in the story, Bilbo Baggins was just a simple ordinary routine-loving hobbit. Despite being a creature the reader has never seen, Bilbo Baggins is described in physical, psychological, and social terms that are quite understandable. He looks like an adult human, except that he is about half the height, is beardless,
The Hobbit, by J.R.R. Tolkien, is centered on Bilbo Baggins, the classical hero who starts out as an average hobbit in an immense world, goes on an adventure and begins find his special gifts that are unique to him, and returns to his old way of life having been changed forever. Bilbo Baggins is a very respectable hobbit living in the Shire. He is just a tiny speck in the vast expanse of Middle Earth and what lies beyond. By a rule, hobbits are to strive for respect from their fellow hobbits. Consequently, it is extremely rare and looked down upon for a hobbit such as Bilbo to venture out of his comfortable hobbit hole and embark on an "adventure". In Bilbo's own words, adventures are "nasty disturbing uncomfortable things! Make you late for dinner!" So like a classical hero, Bilbo starts out as an everyman denying any sort of adventures that come his way.
Have you ever changed in your life for the better? Well, in the novel, The Hobbit by J.R.R Tolkien, there is a main character named Bilbo Baggins who is a hobbit. Bilbo changes throughout the story because he is a dynamic character. He becomes courageous, adventurous, and learns to use his wits as the story develops. Let me go into further detail with this.
The Hero’s Journey, It was articulated by Joseph Campbell, an American mythologist and writer who found out that certain patterns among myths throughout the world. The Hero with a Thousand Faces was based on his findings. In my point of view, Bilbo is a typically hero in the book The Hobbit. He started from a ordinary world, and end up getting back to a ordinary world but with a new life, within that he got different trials that followed the heroic Journey. From this Journey, the things that he got from this, no only the gold, the treasure, but his courage, fortitude, and determination.
Do heros always have to big, strong and confident? Most people think that heroes are strong, brave and confident. But that may not always be the case. In the story, The Hobbit, We meet the main character Bilbo Baggins. In the beginning of the story Bilbo is believed to be a short scared hobbit. Bilbo is about half the size of a human and is a little scared and shy. As the story continues through the chapters you start to notice that Bilbo starts to become better and better and they start to call him a “Hero”. Bilbo has several times when he changes and started acting more like a hero.
Bilbo, was an ordinary character in his community at the beginning of his journey. He lived in his nice home. “It was a Hobbit Hole, and that means comfort.”(3) He maintained a comfortable lifestyle; a tidy home, one with paneled walls, and tiled floors. Hobbits, were known for being respectable, because they were rich, but also because “they never had any adventures or did anything unexpected.”(3) He was a Baggins. A Baggins never forgot their handkerchief, or their walking stick, or any other of their comfort items when they left home. It was their ordinary calm life. He loved it,
There are alot of very close and intense situations in both The Hobbit and The Golden Compass that involve the main characters escaping from danger. Between the two novels the main characters end up showing some similar qualities during their daring escape. It is clear that both authors believe confidence and stealth are the things one needs to get themselves out of tight situations. Lyra and Bilbo very different throughout the majority of their stories until Bilbo starts to come out of his shell and play the role Gandalf chose him for.
“Nothing goes to waste on the journey of life. Both good and bad experiences shape your mind and heart for what is to come.” The main character in the story, Bilbo Baggins, undergoes a transformation that turns him into a hero by the end of the story. Throughout all the trials and tribulations throughout Bilbo’s adventure, he develops three solid characteristics. The reason I can relate to Bilbo Baggins is that of two of these characteristics that he exemplifies while on his adventure. In The Hobbit by J.R.R. Tolkien, Bilbo presents three characteristics risk-taker, rational, and ingenuity that I to have demonstrated some of these traits, but not all of them.
Many science fiction fantasy novels have a hero or heroine. In J.R.R Tolkien’s novel the hobbit Bilbo Baggins is a hero, Even though he finds a ring of invisibility that allows him to preform surprising feats. Some of his acts of heroism are when Bilbo make his first attempt at burglary when he steals from the trolls, when he creates a plan to free his friends from the ElvenKing and follows it through and when he goes down to visit Smaug for the first time to fulfill a promise.
As children develop into adults, certain events and time periods stand out as the reason for important changes in their character. J.R.R. Tolkien portrayed the main character of The Hobbit, Bilbo Baggins, as a child on his trip into adulthood. Throughout The Hobbit, Bilbo Baggins, the protagonist, changes from a childlike hobbit to a fully matured hero. J.R.R. Tolkien divides the change in Bilbo's character into the three major part of the book, prior to the quest, during the quest, and after the quest.
