Pharmacy is my first career choice. In a way, it embodies the three other careers that I have also considered pursuing. [transition] Artists dedicate their lives to learning and mastering their skills in order to create their vision. Teachers pass on valuable knowledge to their students and mold them into successful individuals. Politicians establish and modify policies for the people they are elected to serve. Patient - centered care is something I think should’ve been a part of the pharmacy field since pharmacy has started though, it was to a different extent. Patient - centered care for me is to mold/modify a treatment plan according to the patient’s needs and to consider them in the treatment plan when making one up. Most doctors are likely to just tell the patient what their condition is and what they should take and just tell them what they need to know instead of asking them questions like what are some complications they have been facing while they are following the treatment plan and addressing them. I think it’s important to have patient-centered care because then the patient is more likely to trust their doctor and are willing to follow their plan even if it is uncomfortable to them.

So upon graduating college, I started volunteering at ABEMO as an advocate for women. Their vision is to empower women so they can pursue an education and also to end female genital mutilation. This was of great significance to me because it struck a chord close to home; especially haven barely escaped such torture. During this time I landed a job at a pharmacy as a pharmacy attendant and there I learned about drug handling, trade names and active ingredients.
