Bernie Sanders Debate

One controversial issue with the senator’s policies is how his bills are going to be passed. If Bernie Sanders were elected, his bills would not make it through the Republican majority congress that is in the United States today. The only option that he is left with is to campaign for a democratic congress; however, “Sanders should be out campaigning for progressive candidates for House and Senate across the country in Democratic primaries, and would need to campaign hard this fall to defeat dozens of Republican incumbents across the country” (Caffrey). In the words of Matt Caffrey, “he hasn’t done any of that.”

It is necessary to have free college tuition in order to help advance the well being of our country. One reason is that competition for a job is constantly increasing which makes it almost necessary to have a degree. Those who have a college degree are more likely to get a job than those without because of their additional knowledge and understanding. Sanders has a “College for All” act which makes going to college not only tuition free but also debt free. This plan has an estimated cost of $75 billion a year. The College for All act states that “the federal government would cover 67% of the cost, while the states would be responsible for the remaining 33%” (All Act). According to Sanders, countries like Germany, Finland, Norway and Sweden are tuition free (berniesanders.com). That being said, he believes that in order to get on their level of education, we most offer free college as well. With more educated people in our country, as a whole, we can improve upon the accomplishments of the nation.

Bernie Sanders is socialist but is written down as a independent which is a big turnoff for most people. When people think of socialist they think of Lenin, Castro, and Stalin who were not the most pleasant of people. Sanders totally different then all of them though. First off he’s Jewish and these people don't seem Jewish. Second off he has not killed anybody like the people listed. And third is he has modern and past democratic views. He is a supporter of gay marriage and abortion which is modern democratic views. He wants the minimum wage raised which has been an ongoing fight for many years with republicans and democrats fighting over it. One more thing he's done is trying to reach out to our younger generation who is voting for the first time. In a New York Times article entitled “The Socialist Senator”, he visited South Burlington High School where he answer some question to some 6o kids. This is what you want in a president, who speaks at schools and answer question for them. In another New York Times Article, he states, “Doctors have told me about patients who died because they put off their medical visits until it was too late”(Sanders, 3). I believe Bernie Sanders is the best for the presidential position because he wants to help immigrants who are undocumented here and will do better for this country. He is a flared candidate who has an important message to the people, record free of evildoing and corruption. No other candidate has the credibility Bernie has on economy. For decades no one has paid attention to the American economy when it rigged in favor of the billionaire class at the expense of everyone else. Now people are finally picking their heads up and listening. Love him or hate him, everyone knows Sanders has integrity.

In the beginning, nobody took Bernie Sanders seriously; they all mocked and made fun of him about his appearance. Then, Bernie said if he got elected he would make college tuition-free. Bernie’s goal was to make sure that every kid, no matter how much money they have, will be able to go to college. Bernie has also addressed the issue of violence between police departments (particularly white departments) and the communities they served. He responded to that issue saying: “We need to change the tone of police-community relations.” He says we need to make police seem like part of the community, not someone from the outside coming in to monitor and report them. AS you may know, there is a big rivalry between Bernie and fellow Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton. Numerous people say that Bernie has a lot of big ideas, but no way to reinforce them, but man believe he will do good things if he is elected president. Over the last few years, education has become more of a priority and crime has become more of an issue. Kids are dropping out of school and more people are going to jail each and every day. Our country needs a president that makes sure these topics are taken care of effectively. That person is Bernie Sanders. Bernie Sanders should be the next president of the United States of America.

In this year 's Presidential Election the main candidates are Bernie Sanders, Donald Trump, and Hilary Clinton. Bernie Sanders is the best choice for America. Bernie Sanders was born in 1941 in Brooklyn, New York. He graduated in the University of Chicago. Bernie believed in Civil Rights and was part of CORE(Congress of Racial Equality). He participated in the March on Washington. Bernie became the mayor of Burlington, Virginia in 1981 and served for four terms until 1989. In 1990 he made it to the U.S. House of Representatives until 2007. In 2015 he announced he would run for Democratic presidential nomination. He now competes against the Republican Donald Trump. He is a better candidate because he believes in racial justice, combating climate change, and a fair immigration policy.

The first would be that Bernie Sanders advocates for mass reform of the justice system. In his opinion, The US imprisons far too many people, a disproportionate percentage of African Americans. Rather than investing more into confining people of various degrees of crime, even minor offenses which usually are usually crimes of desperation, Bernie proposes we spend more on education, training, and jobs that will reduce crime. He also believes in more transparency, mainly in law enforcement, where police officers should be held accountable for their abusive practices. Bernie proposes that this can be done by implementing the use of body cameras to keep officers in line.

The 2016 Presidential Election is coming sooner and sooner as each day passes, and it’s approaching the point where all eligible voters need to become informed about the each of the Democrat and Republican candidates running in the 2016 Presidential bid. The voter should be aware of what each candidate represents and what their values are and from that the voter can decide which candidate suits their beliefs best and vote for said candidate when the time comes. In this upcoming election, in my opinion, the candidate that wants the best for the majority of the citizens of the United States is Senator Bernie Sanders. In American History, blacks were slaves once they were brought here. Though we have moved on people of color have faced racial discrimination. Bernie Sanders believes that, there should be certain things done for this to happen, for example, dealing with hate groups and the crimes they commit rather than against the ones that the crime was committed on. Many young generations have had classmates of different colors starting from elementary school, they have made friends with them, they would more likely believe in equality for all people of color.

The 2016 presidential race has been a unique one. Today in society there is many controversial issues that need to be fixed. After evaluating the positions and opinions of the five remaining presidential candidates it is clear that Bernie Sanders is the best candidate who will put the U.S. on the best path forward. We are going forward not backwards.”-Bernie Sanders. Sanders wants to expand on the issue at hand and fix these issues to help the women of the nation. Sanders is very pro-choice, meaning that he thinks the women should be able to choose if they want an abortion or not. That it should be between the doctor and the pregnant women. He also is going to help with full access to birth control to women. Sanders is also going to help women of relationship abuse. He is tired of women not being able to find a safe place from domestic violence, and how some states passed a law where it is a family problem and not abuse. Another thing that Sanders is trying to help on women 's rights is; equal pay. He is pro-Paycheck Fairness Act where men and women will be paid the same amount for the same job. In this argumentative essay we are debating who would make the best presidential candidate. In my opinion, Bernie Sanders will make the best presidential candidate because he cares deeply about the people and is the oldest candidate, therefore has the most experience. He also has a passion for improving the lives of the American people.
