Ben was the youngest son to Robert and Sonya Carson. Ben's father Robert lived a double life with a double family. Once Sonya found out about his double life, Robert left them leaving their family with nothing. Ben, who had anger issues, often got in trouble at school and home. While attending school John did not only get good grades, he played basketball. The people in the African American culture in the 1960’s believed that the only way for a black person to get into college was to play sports for “the white man.” With many African Americans having this mind set, it pushed John to excel on
These factors are accountable for his equal respect for all men and women alike and understanding of the troubles society faces. Growing up in an isolated rural community in Georgia where “southern chivalry” was ingrained in their culture while working closely with African Americans he considered friends, he viewed everyone as equals from an early age, only as he grew did he begin to realize the bigotry in front of him as he noticed he was treated differently from his black friends, something that he did not
There are many intelligent candidates that will be running for presidency in the next election. All of them come from a different back ground and have a different goal to achieve while they are in the president’s seat. However, I believe Ted Cruz would be a great candidate to the white house seat. Ted Cruz is a senator from Texas and his gifted talent in public speaking has given him a great opportunity to defeat his fellow competitors. He graduated at Houston's Second Baptist High School as a valedictorian of his class. He used his talent and further his education at Princeton University. He graduated in 1992; however, he is not yet
form of education would save Black people from themselves. It appears that he felt like a savior to a doomed group of people who were living in a depraved state. They required direction, guidance, and education provided by White people to improve their current conditions. He further believed that domination and democracy were interconnected, and Black people strongly desired to be a part of society (Watkins, 2001, p.60-61).
Jackie Robinson had to deal with overwhelming racism. He handled the racist slurs thrown at him by being gentlemen and playing ball. Robinson risked his life being black in an all-white baseball league. He had it fine in California, but decided to risk his life to show the world what he could do. He became a role model for others like him to be somebody.
He is told to blend in with the other African Americans, told to address white as if they were superior to him, and he is pressured into not following his dream of being a writer. In the end he path his own path, walks his own way, contrary to what he was told. “I knew that I lived in a country in which the aspirations of black people were limited, marked-off. Yet I felt that I had to go somewhere and do something to redeem my being alive”(Black Boy 209).
There has been a great number of leaders throughout history; Presidents, Governors, Senators, Teachers, Counsellors, and many other different examples, but what makes them a leader? It’s been said that good leaders are confident, have vision, are motivated, and in it for more than themselves. One man that shows good leadership qualities is Texas Senator Ted Cruz. Ted Cruz was elected Senator of Texas in 2012, and is married to his wife, Heidi. People criticize Texas senator Ted Cruz for being a bad and ineffective leader, but Senator Cruz demonstrates many great leadership qualities such as being well-educated, being confident, and being a talented communicator.

He saw how his father become invisible to the injustice of black around him and he decided to get involved. He had a generativity concern on improving black people rights in the world around him (Newman & Newman, 2015). As a young boy, he would watch TV, read articles, and read books regarding what people are doing to change the way blacks are treated. His father would be disappointed and hope he would just stay away for the violence, abuse, and other activist groups. After high school, he went on to Fisk University to be involve in the Freeman Riders and later the Black Panthers. Along the journey, he was kicked, spit on, arrested, and even witness brutal killings and prayed that he would not be killed for his rights.

Dr. Benn Carson is a retired African American neurosurgeon and a Republican candidate for president. He has been called names by the liberal black community for many of his "unpopular" stances. His views make him, they say, an Uncle Tom and a traitor to his race.
Gradually, Ben overall becomes sensitive to the environment. The sadness has overwhelmed him and left him a primitive form. He becomes impaired in the way that he relies on a caretaker and is unable to recapture the memories of himself after he’s gone. Once Ben becomes missing, people don’t search for him but instead call to ask where he has been. After about a week everyone in his life ceases to call or look. Annie is the only one to evoke the memories of Ben, the disabled man who became primitive
