Becoming A Skillful Registered Nurse

As far as I remember I would always play nurse with my siblings and make them feel better. When my parents would take me to the store to pick up a toy, I always picked band-aids and pretend doctor kit. My long-term career is becoming a Registered Nurse, and my short-term career is the career I currently have as a Licensed Practical Nurse.

In some point in time, during a person’s life they run into the question what do I want to be? They must find a career that they will enjoy or the time that they have spent in class and studying will be in vain. While doing research on the Georgia Career Information Center and from the constant idea throughout my life I have decided that I want to become a registered nurse. The type of work environment, the salary that the job provides and flexibility with work hours are all things that have drawn me to this occupation. I want to specialize in Neonatal. As a LPN I plan on working in long term care to spend time passing meds and being able to do assessments, or work at madigan hospital in hopes to be able to work in acute care until I get into RN school. I plan on working full time in whatever area I get a job in, most jobs offer classes to keep you up to date on what is best and safe practice. I plan to attend classes and seminars as provided to try and keep myself as sharp as possible in hopes to keep myself as sharp as possible for the safety of my patients and when the time comes for me to start school to be a registered nurse. I plan to take part in CEU’s. I plan to take classes to manage my 45 hours of continued education yearly I would like to take classes on medication administration

Saving lives matters. You do not have to be a Doctor or a Police officer to save a person life. Being a Nurse has greater or equal value in saving someone life. A registered nurse or RN is a person who has graduated with a nursing degree from an accredited college or university, has passed the state board examination and is licensed to practice nursing. It is very important for a person who wants to become a nurse to research the pros and cons of the different areas of nursing. Gender is a big role in nursing, especially when a specific area of interest is chosen by the individual. For instance, women are gentle so they will probably do well with caring for the babies. While the men are physically strong, they are needed in the physical therapy area to help with lifting patients. Being a nurse you must have patience, customer service, being independence, and honesty. I believe that being a nurse will not be an easy task. Becoming a nurse takes hard work and dedication. Being a nurse may be an accomplishment for those that enjoy helping others. It also has great pay and benefits and offers a secure job for a career.

Becoming a Registered Nurse requires many hoops to jump through. The Associates Degree Nursing Program requires two years of your time, patience, and responsibility. This can be obtained either through a community college or either at a four-year college as well. I chose to attend a community college do to the fact that I have to work as well attending school full time. Time management is a key factor to becoming a great respectable Registered Nurse. As a Registered Nurse you will be trained in Anatomy, Physiology, Biology, and also Nutrition. The typical nursing program prepare you with the basic nursing skill such as taking vital signs (blood pressure, temperature, oxygen levels), to Emergency care, Pediatric care, Obstetric care, and also Medical- Surgical care. All of the information obtained through schooling helps prepare you for the NCLEX, to receive your nursing licenses. I have had my heart set on this particular major for years now. I chose Nursing because I love to help others. I want to be the hands and feet of those who are in need. I have a passion to serve others and a love for those who are sick and may need surgery to also caring for those who had a baby and celebrating with them in that moment in time. I have found that in nursing you have to put yourself aside and put others before yourself. This is where I tend to strive and let go and let God do his work through me. One of my favorite writing assignments that I wrote along this year would be “Career Plan”, since it helped me find out what I really want to be and learn more about that Career. Searching for career is really helpful and it helps you decide on which one you want the mot and think it’s more convenient for you and you know you will be able to accomplish.

Registered nurses work alongside physicians providing patient care in a variety of ways. A few examples of what nurses are responsible for include: administering medications, tracking patient’s vital signs, helping to diagnose and properly treat patient aliments and educating the patient and their family on their condition and the course of treatment. Depending on what area of medicine a nurse works in will determine more generalized and specific duties and responsibilities. There are many different areas a nurse may work in. Some areas include: obstetrics and gynecology, pediatrics, emergency room, and many more. Nurses can work in a variety of settings, these can include: hospitals, urgent cares, doctors office, nursing homes and home health.

The reason why I became interested in Nursing and working my way to a Registered Nurse is because I work at CRMC as a EVS Aide and I work around Nurses. I get to see what they get to do, and how they get to help a patient’s stay at the Hospital be as pleasurable as they can. I work in all parts of the facility. I am most interested in working in the Hospital part of it all. I see Nurse’s cry, smile, and laugh during their shift and they get attached to the patient’s and do what they can to make them feel better, and make the patient, their family, and their friends comfortable during the stay.

As humans, we all struggle in many ways, and that includes me. Throughout the seventeen years I have lived, I have learned many things. Challenges have passed through my path of succeeding, but I learn how to live and learn from those mistakes/problems. Many strengths and weaknesses have built up as each day comes along whether it’s communication, teamwork, or even being too sensitive. How will this affect me? It will affect me in my future path of becoming a registered nurse (RN). I have set my mind to control all these actions as each problem comes along. Nurses play a vital role in healthcare. They are the patient’s advocate and act as the patient’s “eyes and ears”. On the first day of class, I had the pleasure of meeting Carol Robinett. One of the first factors that I noticed about Carol when I talked to her was how she perceived herself. She had a great personality and seemed trustworthy. She is caring towards others, a quick learner, and works at a fast pace. She has been a Certified Nursing Assistant since 1997 and believes these attributes have helped her in that career. One of her biggest regrets is not finishing school so; she is back in school to earn a degree as a registered Nurse. For Carol to become a registered nurse, she will be obligated to spend four years in college, for this reason, Carol has to engage in keeping her grades up. After accomplishing her goal to become a registered nurse, she will hopefully make about 90,000 dollars annually.

This essay is going describe the skills that student nurses need to demonstrate to show that they have a clear understanding of good nursing practice. This essay will focus on four inter-related skills that complement each other in achieving goals (Barker 2007). The goal that these nursing skills seek to achieve is good nursing practice as according to Nursing and Midwifery Council’s (NMC 2008) mission of protecting the health and welfare of the public. NMC is the National Regulatory body that stipulates and regulates standards of education, training, and conduct of nurses and midwives throughout Great Britain and islands. They have published four core principles to ensure people are treated as individuals with respect and dignity

To become an intellectual and competent nurse, I believe that I should strive to be well-rounded in a variety of aspects. My experiences as a former outpatient, a nursing assistant trainee, and being part of a patient’s family make up the foundation of my personal nursing philosophy. Furthermore, I am aware that self-care, empathy, culture, communication, advocacy and education are some of the most significant factors that all individuals should be informed of before choosing a career path in the health care setting. I will also take account of the knowledge I have obtained from class lectures and personal experiences and apply what I have learned into my nursing practice.

Before the age of eighteen, I had lived in three countries. My father’s career as a doctor and scientist of Military, Disaster & Extreme Medicine took my family throughout Kazakhstan, Russia, and the Ukraine. Although it was a challenge for me to continually adapt to new places and learn three languages, I am grateful for the cultural exposure that traveling provided me. In every new environment I was raised to treat others with equal respect and kindness regardless of any differences or similarities we may have had. This exposure has taught me that successful acclimation lies in the ability to interact well with people from diverse backgrounds. Here, in a country of immigrants, I have met people from countries all around the world. The Nursing field provides me the opportunity to help all people regardless of age, sex or ethnicity. I seek a Nursing degree here in the United States in order to increase my knowledge and to be able to practice in the field of professional nursing. My goal of becoming a Registered Nurse has long been encouraged by my personal interest in the profession and by my experience, previous education and achievements. These factors continue to motivate and inspire my desire to seek this degree and become a healthcare professional.

My career goal is to become a registered nurse. I will try very hard to pursue my goal. I chose this career because ever since I was little I wanted to help people. I would be successful at this goal because I like to work hard and help people. I have not really had a lot of experiences that lead me to think that this is the job for me other than helping my sister and I bandage our wounds really well. I want to follow my dreams and become an RN. I do not want to fail. There are so many that have failed and I do not want to be one of them. I want my goals to be met, but they will only be met by working hard and not quitting no matter what happens.
