I didn’t know what path my future was going to take until I became a member of Boy Scouts of America. Since becoming a Boy Scout I have decided that I wanted to become a District Executive, better known as a Professional Scouter. By becoming a District Executive for Boy Scouts of America, I will have the opportunity to help hundreds of youth. Becoming a District Executive, I will learn that helping youth has been a long part of the history of Boy Scouts of America. Then I will have to have the right education so I can go through a week of training to become a District Executive. Next I will learn the duties of being a District Executive. Then with doing my job, come benefits and a salary. Then once I have been a District Executive for …show more content…
Next is to lead fundraising to keep the Boy Scouts of America going. “My main duty is recruit youth and adult leadership. Second to that is fundraising. BSA is not for profit” (Ash-Simpson, Lovetta 2015). So liking youth and being able to talk with youth is a key factor. By being able to communicate with youth that leads to a better chance of them wanting to join Scouts. Another main duty is service in the community, whether it is raking leaves for an old person or helping build a house for a family who doesn’t have one. Service is really big in Boy Scouts, it happens to be one of the requirements to advance in rank. The Scout slogan is “Do A Good Turn Daily” which means provide daily service to people. That goes along with being a District Executive I would have to go out daily and do service in the community. “Starts usually about 9:30. I get to the office at 10:30 or 11 it depends on if 75% of your work is done outside of the office. If you are in the office to much your not going to make it because the kids don’t come knocking on your door. The volunteers rarely come to the door. Most of my entire day is in the field” (Ash-Simpson, Lovetta 2015). So to make it as a District Executive I have to be out in the field doing service. By doing my duties such as recruiting, fundraising, and doing service I should make it as a District
In order to pursue my goal, I needed to finish my degree and gain experience working directly with youth. The first step was leaving my full-time position with DYC and working at one of the staff-secure facilities as a Coach Counselor. I began working part-time at the facility in September 2014 with both DYC and the Department of Human Services youth. My responsibilities include supervising the students during the different elements of their day (we refer to the youth as students or student athletes because our program emphasizes the value of education and the organization and teamwork in sports as a foundation to make positive changes in their lives), providing appropriate and supportive leadership, and being a positive adult role model. This experience has solidified my desire to work as a youth case manager or parole officer. I enjoy working with the students, celebrating their accomplishments with them, and helping them through disappointments and/or set-backs. In addition to my part-time position, I am also in the Air Force Reserves working as a Paralegal in the active duty legal
Congratulations!!! The store owner of Dunkin Donuts has decided to open five new locations over the next two years. A new District Manager will be needed for these new locations and will present many new opportunities. The new district manager will be given complete control, authority, and responsibility to structure, staff and operate the five new locations. The new opportunities will be challenging, but it will also be rewarding. Seeing the new location grow into thriving businesses will show the store owner that he made a great discussion. Many key components will be among the challenges and will include job design, organizational design, recruiting strategy and methods, and training
The bear have evolved along time ago and now there is only eight species existing. They evolved from early canids during the late Oligocene and early Miocene, about 25 million years ago. I have learned the importance of leading a large group of differing opinions into a unified force. I have also developed a strong sense of responsibility for my actions towards others and in holding a powerful position. I have held numerous leadership titles such as “Miss Junior Seven Hills” as well as “Miss Teen Seven Hills”. Through these opportunities I represented the city of Seven Hills at city and county wide events and learned the importance of communication and how to be a positive representative. I am a part of a handful of other clubs at school including Key Club, National Honor Society, Spanish Club, Student Government, and Jazz Band. I am a completive dancer at Caliber Dance Company and have danced since I was 8 years old. Dance has taught me discipline and has proven to me that hard work pays off. Although I have experience in these various activities I think my most significant experience comes from my time as a member of NIMB. I have firsthand experience of feeling too intimidated to have fun and I want to ensure that no member of NIMB has the same feeling at any point throughout the season. I have seen many leaders of the band come and go and have learned that in order to be effective a Field Commander must be positive, personable, focused, and dedicated. I promise to personify these traits and use my experience in a beneficial
I want to be a JYC leader this year because I have seen how great of an experience it is through my friends. The past couple years, I’ve heard hours of stories about how fun it is to be with all the kids and how close the leaders all get. In addition to this, last summer I had the opportunity to be a counselor at i4-H camp. I quickly grew to love all the kids I got the opportunity to interact with and i4-H became one of my favorite camps. It’s a very special experience to spend time with and teach youth; I hope to get that opportunity again through JYC. I also want to be a JYC counselor to better my leadership skills. I aspire to someday work in 4-H, but besides that, I’ll need good leadership skills for all aspects of my life. JYC is a good
I interviewed Mrs. Regina Bowman, a semi-retired case manager/career counselor for the city Workforce Program, Job Link (personal communication, March 18, 2014). Mrs. Bowman spent 35 years with the city, 20 of those years at Job link and 15 years with the police department. Growing up the main question a child is asked is, “What do you want to be when you grow up? “ , and most kids respond saying a doctor, lawyer, or a cop. In reality not everyone sticks to their first idea, and it’s slim that they actual start working in the chosen career. In my case, I have always wanted to work as a social worker or a therapist, but I realized it wasn’t in my budget. Therefore, I have decided; as well as, grew interest in being a dental assistant for a pediatric office.
The United States government is divided into three equal parts: the legislative branch, the executive branch and the judicial branch. There are many factors within each branch that helps the government function. The executive branch carries out laws. The legislative branch is responsible for creating the laws, while the judicial reviews them. The branch that stands out the most is the legislative branch.
A new superintendent in an urban school district believes educators are trained to run schools and should do so with the least amount of interference possible. For this reason, an ethical crisis arises when the district decides whether or not to close a local high school. While public relations officers want district administration to be as transparent as possible to remain honest and open, the superintendent and other schoolboard members want to hold meetings with no media present. This facts of this case will become clear through explication.
Additionally being an officer with my school's HOSA club for two years and current President, I have learned how to be a leader. With teaching the dance classes I can speak comfortably in front of a group of people and can get my point across to others. Being a HOSA officer my jobs has included planning where and when the meeting should take place and what we will be doing at the meetings. As an upcoming leader in HOSA I hope to collaborate with the Rainbow Room and start a drive at my school to get supplies for foster kids. With my leadership experience it has made me more confident and have
My Government Day Essay A Chief Deputy is the Sheriff’s assistant. This career caught my attention because it would be an honor to help out the people that help out this wild world. I think I would prefer to start by being a Chief’s Deputy because then I will have enough experience for when I become a Sheriff. I have always thought of being someone in this world. Someone that helps others.
Those who can strengthen their leadership skills as a youth will better set themselves up to be able to lead others in the future. A leader is not always one that tells others what to do, but many times must show them by taking the initiative to work on the tasks with those that may follow. I have learned through my time as a Scout that the most effective leader does not boss others around, but leads by example. To obtain the rank of Eagle Scout, a Scout must learn many traits throughout his time, that he will apply in his life service. This is the epitome of one’s time in Scouting, and can teach a person endless things about themselves.
Okonkwo is the main character, who defeated Amalinze the cat after 7 years of being unbeaten. This occurred about 20 years ago. Okonkwo was muscular and tall.
There are a few different government funded health care programs that are provided to a different group of Americans. One of the insurance programs provided by the government is Medicaid. Medicaid is a federal and state program which covers the cost of medical care for people who are considered to have an income that is lower than a certain level. The people who are accepted to receive Medicaid are those who are low income families with children, recipients receiving benefits for Supplemental Security Income, women who are pregnant and their income is lower than federal poverty guidelines along with the infants born to the women who are Medicaid eligible. Those who have Medicaid have to locate doctor 's offices who accept Medicaid as one cannot use this insurance anywhere. The government should provide health care for health care has been overly priced to almost impossible to afford; the number of uninsured residents has grown significantly; and with the government providing health care the physicians wouldn 't have to worry about how they would be getting paid they would be able to focus on helping the person get better.
