My educational goals are attending a four year university getting a bachelors degree in science with a minor in chemistry. Throughout my time in university I would also like to become a certified Phlebotomist and EKG technician. With obtaining my bachelors in science and minor in chemistry this will be a step towards my final education goal in applying to a master program to become a Physician Assistant. Being able to understand and know health scientific problems has been a lifelong goal of mines helping people to know more about what they can do to prevent or become better has always been my
Several months ago, while sitting at work the command phone rang. Moments later, the doctor states “cardiac arrest, ETA 5 minutes." My heart dropped - this is the second one this week. After a flutter of activity and preparation, the stretcher finally comes barreling through the double doors. The EMT states, "I have a 37 year old male with a sudden onset of left sided chest pain that radiates into his left arm. He went into cardiac arrest secondary to ventricular fibrillation while en route to the hospital." I diligently document every detail into the computer.
There is an endless amount of sources that are available for individuals striving to become a physician assistant. These sources include things such as news articles, magazines, scholarly articles, websites, and videos. These sources are easily accessible to you as a student through your school’s library or even sources online. All of these sources are extremely helpful to use when trying to obtain information about the physician assistant profession.
Mark Twain once said, “The two most important days in your life are the day you were born and the day you figure out why.” Personally, the second day came when I discovered the physician assistant profession and subsequently the Master of Physician Assistant program at MCPHS University. From then on all of my life experiences as an EMT, shadowing, and working have fervently inspired me to become the best possible physician assistant I can be.
Even though the medical profession seems to be swamped with choices, you will find it difficult to select one good option for your needs when you actually need to choose one. It means that you need to pre-plan and take appropriate action accordingly that will help you in becoming a successful medical professional.
Health is a major issue in any city or country. Health is considered the most important thing when it comes to taking care of your body. Without the correct studies of how to take care and realize what is wrong with your health, you won’t know the exact problem of what is going on. This is where the professionals come in, in other words healthcare providers. A healthcare provider is defined as a provider of medical and health related services. We contact healthcare providers for diagnosis, treatments, screening, consultations, and preventions of any harm to our health; this is also why they are important to us. The range between healthcare providers widens from dentistry all the way to physical injuries. I personally want to be a health care provider but not do any gross stuff like switching out hearts and
I have grown more each year as a person. My goals for the future are graduating from an extraordinary, and well know university; with the graduate level skills and education to enhance in a distinguished career. In addition, the ability to maintain an excellent job, with job security practicing public health. I would also love to have a chance to travel around the world and visit other states and countries working in the health care field. I am determined in following through all my goals, which I have planned.
A Physician Assistant (PA) is a mid-level medical provider who works under the supervision of Physicians. PAs have to pass multiple exams to start the practice. Although some of the Physician Assistant programs in the United States accept students who do not have an undergraduate degree, most of the program now require to have a Baccalaureate degree. Students can choose any major during their undergraduate degree; however, they must complete the pre-requisite course of the Physician Assistant program. Some of the major pre-requisites of the PA program are: Human Anatomy and Physiology, Biochemistry, Organic Chemistry, General Biology, and English. Although there are variation in the pre-requisite for different programs, most of the pre-requisite
My first goal is to graduate and get certified as a medical assistant. To reach this goal I will attend every class, study hard, and pass every class so when I complete my externship I will be confident in my new career.
After having a horrific knee injury, I became interested in Orthopedics. My whole life I have been interested in achieving a job in the medical field. Going to a hospital for any reason, always was the fascination of my day. I never thought of becoming a physician assistant until I sat down with my mom one night to help me decide my future. My dream job would be to pursue a career as a Physician Assistant and specialize in Orthopedics. A physician assistant, known as a PA, is someone who practices medicine on teams with physicians, surgeons, and other healthcare workers. They also examine, diagnose, and treat patients. The role of a physician assistant is basically just like the physician. They do the same task an attending does, except perform
What is a CMA? A CMA, also known as a certified medical assistant, is an individual that has been awarded a certification credential through the Certifying Board of the American Association of Medical Assistants(AAMA). CMA has been educated in a wide scope of general, clinical, and administrative responsibilities. They were also tested. CMAs play major roles in the medical field, by aiding other professionals to help patients. Being a certified medical assistant takes time, the process maybe complicated but in the end of the day it may be worth it.
I plan to use my major in Biology and my minor in Chemistry to fulfill the requirements for P.A. school so that I can ultimately become a Physician Assistant. Physician Assistants are vital to the medical field as they operate along side the physician, but still have the capacity and capability to diagnose and treat patients even without the physician having to look over every move that they make. I believe that I would make a good candidate for an internal scholarship because I have the motivation to continue to push my self forward in my studies to reach my ultimate goal and I won't stop until I get there and by receiving a scholarship I believe that it will help me to reach my goal without worrying about not having enough money to get
When I came to school in August I thought I had my four years here at Harding completely planned out. I wanted to study to become a RN and eventually come back to Harding a few years after graduation and get my M.D. to become a Nurse Practitioner. But, these plans quickly changed. The more I learned about the different programs Harding offers the more interested I became in new career fields. Eventually, I was able to choose my major to be Exercise Science with hopes to apply to the Physician Assistant program after graduation. The biggest part of my reason for wanting to pursue this path is the versatility of the career. Currently, I want to work in pediatrics, but if I were to change my mind I could work in anything from dermatology to geriatrics
When it comes to my education and career goals I have very many. The first one is to finish high school and in Fall 2017 I will be attending National Park College for the RN to BSN program. After I gain field experience I plan on furthering my education and becoming a Nurse Practitioner. Currently taking a Medical Professions and Terminology class at National Park to help further my knowledge for this career. Through this class I have also become a Certified Medical Billing Specialist (CMBS) and a Certified Medical Records Technician (CMRT).
“Everything happens for a reason;” a quote that is told to people as a way to ease the discomfort of an uncomfortable situation. Although the phrase is vague and cliché I have often found solace in it during my pursuit of becoming a physician assistant. The first instance where it was of great relevance was the day that I had lost one of my closest friends at the time to an undiagnosed case of appendicitis that ruptured. I was in sixth grade at the time and this experience encouraged me to mature and pursue life with a purpose. As I entered high school I used this tragedy to excel both academically and as a person. Upon entering college I knew that I wanted to enter the healthcare field but it wasn’t until several learning experiences later I realized that becoming a physician assistant would allow me to provide care in a way that best fit my personality and goals for a career in medicine.
My larger vision is becoming a biomedical engineer. What interests me most about the field is the intricate combination of two seemingly opposite characteristics. Engineers are sometimes seen as people who are on an elevated level of intelligence, but a below average sense of interpersonality. As a Biomedical Engineer, you are required to interact closely with patient. It’s impossible to complete a job without getting to know a patient. You have to identify their ailment or whatever else may be troubling them, and incorporate different levels of math, science, and technology to resolve the issue at
