Many of the fictional characters found in literature, television, or theater are based on fantasies. These characters may possess inhumane abilities, wealth, or troubled pasts. However, some specific characters are remembered because they have personalities that personally relate to us. Beatrice (Tris), from the Divergent series written by Veronica Roth, is the character that I am most similar to. In the series, the society is divided into five factions (virtues): Abnegation, Amity, Candor, Erudite, and Dauntless. Each faction represents the personality a person must only possess: the selfless, the peaceful, the honest, the intelligent, the brave, respectively. The distribution of what faction each teenager is assigned to is done through an aptitude test. In this special one week experience, high school students become counselors for fifth graders and guide them through various nature related tasks. As a counselor, I constantly worried about the safety of the children over my own and put my own needs of relaxation on hold. Tris’s selflessness is portrayed similarly to mine as they both deal with safety. Instead of children, she puts her friend Al’s safety in front of her own by getting hit by the knives thrown at Al. The Erudite faction is expressed through the number of AP and accelerated courses I have taken in high school. I constantly have the need to push myself to extremes with rigorous classes and academic clubs. These clubs such as Technology Student Association require hours of nonstop quality work which I put in because I have the willpower and intelligence to do so. Other than me, Tris also shows her intelligence when she was able to pick the most logical response from a particular situation, something an Erudite clearly
