A little under two years ago, one day after basketball practice, I received a call from an unknown number. It was a 512 area code, and I was curious to see who it was. I answered the phone– it was the regional president at the time, Barrett Dover, inviting me to join BBYO Lonestar Region. Even though I didn’t know Barrett that well, or know much about BBYO at all, this call was what led me to join. This personal call went a long way; for I would not be here today if it weren’t for Barrett and the 92 years of Alephs before me who have invited others to join BBYO.
BBYO is comprised of many layers that give members a meaningful high school experience – quality programming, strong fraternity, a deep connection to Judaism and Israel, and most importantly, recruitment. Without recruitment, BBYO would not

Spring term is a crucial time for building our movement– It is when Taste Events occur, where prospects get to see what BBYO is really like. I will call my chapter counterparts weekly, assisting them in any way possible, allowing us to have high quality events with the maximum amount of prospects attending. Fall term is equally as important as spring term, it is the time to recruit any freshman who have yet to join, and put them into chapters with their friends who are already members. Membership is a team effort. The entire mekasherim team, the regional board, and all members of Lone Star on both chapter and regional level must put in the work. By making prospect lists easily accessible to all members, we will all participate in the race to 1000 members, and make all of our goals a

What triggered America’s huge industrial growth during the period from 1860 to 1900? Economic change had been a recurring pattern in history for as long as it has been documented. During the war of 1812 the United States was fought against the British because of the embargoes of 1806. The war, in a nutshell, was fought because the British didn't want the U.S to trade with anyone but Britain, and when the U.S tried they would embargo, or ban trade, with the U.S. Because there was no trade between Britain and the U.S, no goods were transported. Since the U.S didn't receive any good they had to be responsible for their own products, resulting in the market revolution. The market revolution marked the beginning of mass production. Entrepreneurs started to bring ideas, which formed the

My life is clearly represented by the symbolic choices I made. Everything I drew means something important to me. The CN Tower and the running man that I drew on the bottom portion of the page are excellent examples of this. The running man represents my passion of running and desire to chase after my dreams. The CN Tower represents the city of Toronto and the place in which I was born and raised in.

She remembers there was a soda machine at the drugstore where people from her school went to socialize but she was never allowed to. Her parents were immigrants from Turkey making her cultural background very important in her life, she was very sheltered throughout her school years, and her family's

In today’s society, a good quality education is an important and valuable necessity. As a college student at Lone Star College, my college experience has greatly influenced me in an enormous amount of ways. By attending college, I have not only had a chance to receive a quality education and degree, but also an opportunity to socialize and interact with various people from different cultures. In addition, the professors on campus have been extremely helpful towards teaching me to succeed in both inside and outside the class room. Furthermore, my college experience at Lone Star has greatly influenced and encouraged me to be successful and achieve my dream of becoming a doctor.
Boys State was a program that, quite frankly, I was discouraged from attending. I heard from multiple people from across the State that, “all you do is march,” and that Boys State is “military school.” I can say with utmost confidence that I will spread the opposite view. Boys State entirely exceeded my expectations in every way, and I cannot thank you enough for granting me such an exceptional opportunity.
