ear Ms.Perkins, Your book Bamboo People changed how I think about violence and how people are more similar than different. Setting the story in a country that's fighting a war and making the main characters two fifteen year old boys on different sides made the book interesting. As the book continued I saw a friendship forged between the two boys, which made me think that people have more similarities than that they have differences. When Tu Reh find Chico in the jungle with his leg missing. I thought that Tu Reh was going to kill Chico but he didn't. Then I started thinking about the the consequences and the rewards of letting him live and what if I made some different decisions. Like going to school or learning how to swim. These choices

Your book has changed my perspective of life. Like I learned never judge or label someone just by looks. Also it taught to be grateful to have things. It also showed me don't take your education for granted as it's really important and some people don't have it and would die for the chance. The way you wrote this was a delightful mind changing story. I never thought that a book would ever do something like that until I read Lyddie. This book had very great lessons through the book. This book has changed my mindset for better thank you Katherine Paterson.
In Matoaca Middle School we are expected to be the best people we can be to achieve success in all of our goals, in and out of school. We are encouraged to do this and influenced by things we see inside and outside of school. We can also be influenced by the literature we read. There are many times we can use TRIBE Expectations to analyze the book Crash. I have decided to analyze the many scenarios in Crash where Penn showed an incredible amount of use of the TRIBE Expectations
Reading this book will certainly affect people’s life. The Other Wes Moore is influential and it gives impacts to the readers. Not only
Whistling Vivaldi by Claude M. Steele was a very eye opening book to read. I never realized before reading this book how big of an impact stereotype threat can have on people. I obviously knew of stereotyping, and all the different types of stereotyping there are, but I didn't realize how much of an impact it could have on education. When I think of stereotypes, I usually think of stereotyping different races, but this book brought to my attention that stereotyping can be towards gender, minorities in different situations, and many many more. After reading this book, I feel like it made me more conscious of what I say to people and the way I think of them. Also, it made me really open my eyes and made me aware for when I become a teacher and the way I portray others, and how it can effect them academically.
We learn how because of this reasons and after seeing so many people dying many soldiers started wishing for the war to finally end and some even decided to escape from the army when realizing that the fighting was not going to stop soon.
Personally, the book taught me a lot about how people deal with situations when under pressure, people’s need for power and how easy it really if for a war to break out and I found that in my mind I could easily link what was going
Page by page I develop a new understanding for life and perspective. Reading just a few pages of To Kill a Mockingbird opened up so many thoughts and questions. Learning to have a sympathetic perspective when noticing difference is a sensitive topic to be focused on. "If you can learn a simple trick, Scout, you'll get along a lot better with all kinds of folks. You never really understand a person until you consider things from his point of view". Scout is a girl with intelligence and extraordinary knowledge for a six year old, but she has a lot more to learn about the human race. "Our battles were epic and one-sided. Calpurnia always won, mainly because Atticus always took her side". Calpurnia was her African American nanny and Atticus probably
It has shown me how people have changed over many of years. Back then people had a much better chance to get away with any crime. We didn't expect that a person could be so brutal back then, but now we do. There is new technology that we can now use to solve these crimes with ease. I bet most people who are even be capable of killing have backed out because they know that they will get caught. The book also showed me how quick life can change. The victims went out one day to go have fun at a town fair. They probably planned to go with friends or family, and even had plans for what they were going to do after. But that was all taken from them in a single day. All of their lives work, relationships, and more, just taken. It makes you want to be more careful and live life to the fullest while you still can. I also learned how twisted a person could be. You'd never expect your child or a friend to become so evil. Cases like this really show you what good and evil means. You could be good and stick to the normal rules in society, or you could be evil and defy those orders in every aspect. The crazy part is that you will never know what a person is truly capable of until it is too late. This story wasn't really focussed on culture, but there are people who do these types of things all around the world. That shows how people from all over the world, no matter how different they claim to be, are similar. Lots of people like to
Reading Brothers in Arms made me different in many ways. It makes me see the world different in a good way because your book affected me. It makes me think of the value in my friends family and education. It made me feel more than grateful for all my friends family and education. Brothers in Arms also made me connect to other books like your Bluford series.
lucky black child who loses his fancy clothes to tigers. Its built on a well
Reading Half the Sky has been enlightening and I feel that I have learned a lot about sexual violence and human trafficking in other countries. All the personal stories have been heart breaking to read, but chapter five in particular got to me.
Last, this book changed the way I see the world. Now I understand that on any average day anything as bad as losing my home and my parents could happen. I know now that the world will not believe that you’ve been tortured if you don’t have proof, just like they denied the Baudelaires. Also, I trust less people now. If the orphans had trusted Count Olaf their lives would have been much
Your book The Hunger Games changed the way I think about politics and the media. Before I read your book, I only watched the news or read the newspaper if I had to for a class assignment. When I watched T.V., I watched reality shows like Survivor and The Bachelor , and I assume that everything I saw in those shows actually happened just like that in real life. After all, why else would they call it reality television? I never cared about what went on in the outside world because I didn’t think it mattered to me personally. I never questioned the messages in the shows I watch for fun because I didn’t realize that anything fun could even have a deeper meaning behind it.
Salt and light expanded my understanding of how individuals can make a difference. It only takes one person to be inspired and keep the light coming through to make the world a better place.
