A lot of what I hear is about how to raise my child, rules, schedules, blah blah blah... Some people turn into a salesman telling me what all I need to buy. Every baby site, blog, and group has a list of baby essentials. However, I have found that some of them were great buys and others were a waste of money. I am going to start with the items that I wish we hadn't purchased. 1. A Pack-N-Play. I bought the Graco Pack'n Playard. There is nothing wrong with it, we …show more content…
The Bumbo Floor Seat I am not even sure why I got one of these. I think they are supposed to help baby learn to sit up. I think we used it twice. It now serves as a doorstop for the nursery. Now for the fun part. These are the best items that I purchased for my baby. 1. Munchkin Miracle Trainer Cup Yes training cups are one of the last things you buy for your kiddo. I started my child on a sippy cup at 9 months. After starting the sippy cup, my mother told me about these cups that help train on how to use a real cup. We initially had some issues getting Child One to drink from the cup. He didn't actually start using this cup regularly until he was 11 months old. Now he uses it everyday. 2. Graco Little Lounger Everyone told me not to buy a bassinet. They said I would regret spending so much money on something I would only use for a small amount of time. I chose to buy this item because it is perfect for a newborn baby, it folds up, and it vibrates to sooth baby. I used this item as a place for my little one to sleep in and take naps while I was recovering from my c- section. He continued to nap in this little lounger until he no longer fit. 3. Fisher-Price Laugh & Learn

One part of parent of parent hood which can become frustrating is that everyone becomes an expert. The problem with this is that you feel what you are doing is wrong as opinions often conflict with each other and in most cases many opinions are old wives tales. Thankfully in my experience my mother in-law is a midwife and she was able to tell us what current opinion and research suggest is best but explained all is at own discretion.
I can’t wait to go to session two of EXPLO-VET. I’m certain that joining EXPLO-VET this summer is going to have a big advantage for me in the future. I believe this because, just by reading EXPLO-VET homepage and emails I could already tell this is going to be a fun and exciting educational summer experience. I’m very interested in this program because ever since I was young I always had a special love for animals. At school, I read books about veterinarians and was super exited when one came in on career day and she showed us the daily schedule of a busy veterinarians. I own 1 ferret and 1 dog but when I’m a vet I want to specialize in small animals. I’m interested in this program because I inspire to be a veterinarian when I grow up. I want
I did this activity following the babies’ routine in which I had to plan for.
Group members are struggling with the many facets of having a NICU baby. This session will deal with some of the very common issues. Parents of NICU babies are often worried about how slowly their child may be progressing in comparison to other babies. This session the group will work through some of those progressions and regressions and help the parents to cope with this. Parents are sitting in the NICU for hours, watching other babies do things that their baby is not doing. However, this session will help show the parents that they are all doing this. Every parent in the group has likely been the parent on either end of that frustration/joy. Regression can be hard for parents and does happen often during a NICU stay. Group members may show some reluctant to talk about their child’s set-backs. They may be discouraged by them. Parents have a strong desire to know when their child will be discharged from the hospital. This can cause them to become upset when that does not happen (Pepler et. Al, 2012).

The documentary Babies by Thomas Balmès is a film that takes place in four very different locations around the world. The documentary follows four babies and their families from when they are first born as they grow up and are able to walk. We watch Ponijao grow up in Namibia, Bayar grow up in Mongolia, Hattie grow up in San Francisco, and Mari grow up in Tokyo. Because the babies are from such different places, the documentary allows us to see what it is like growing up in cultures that we are currently unfamiliar with. The film opens up your eyes to the various forms of living in other areas around the world. In this paper, I will discuss the universal themes I noticed, my personal reflection of the film, the various
In the case of Brenda, there are many sociocultural and psychosocial issues that are heard in the lyrics to Tupac’s, “Brenda’s Got a Baby”. The song capitulates the shame of Brenda having a baby at a young age, here we see the breakdown of what is considered “abnormal” in society today. Tupac refers to her “not having a brain”, this implication would mean that most likely Brenda has had no education or very little at best. Here we see a major sociocultural problem that doesn’t just exist in Brenda’s case but in many young girls whom are brought up in poverty and have been thrown in the armpit that are the ghetto. The ghetto, or urban housing, is the worst place to grow up and we see the effects of constant forms of oppression. We also find

The Social Security system, the people’s retirement system, is running out of money and it is time for it to be privatized. Since being created in 1935 by President Franklin D. Roosevelt, people have grown more dependent on Social Security for their retirement and the system can only be sustained for so long. In a 2015 Gallup poll, 46% of those polled said they “personally worry about the Social Security system.” The same Gallup poll also found that 36% of retirees expected Social Security to be a “major source” of their income in retirement. People are worried with good reason. The current system cannot sustain itself.

It’s comfortable, interesting, attractive and appropriate for the child or children who use it. For some children it becomes like a second home where they eat and sometimes sleep. A suitable environment for a young baby will be very different from a suitable environment for a four or five year old although some features will be the same. Environments should be attractive and make children feel safe and secure and happy to be there and they should also be places where children can confidently play and learn.
I must admit that I am predisposed to Amazon as I am an avid buyer and take advantage of being a prime member. I was hoping to be influenced or at the very least tempted into purchasing from another site. There was no

As soon as you become a mother everyone around you starts acting like a parenting expert or childcare specialist. Your parents, in-laws, friends, cousins, colleagues, neighbors and even random people you meet in supermarkets or bus journeys offer you generous doses of advice on what you should and should not do as a parent. Unwanted and unsolicited advice from strangers can be dismissed easily with a passive smile or an “um, thanks”. But things can get hard when harmless, yet annoying parenting advice comes from your family members or people you know personally. Here are a few tips to help you deal with unwanted parenting advice:
