Arranged Marriages are traditional in a group of other countries, but one thing you may not know is that The Aztecs also thought arranged marriages were traditional. Usually the men got married at the ages 20-25, and the women got married at the age of 16-18. The aztec parents chose their children's future loved ones.
The Aztecs were a Mesoamerican culture that was founded in Central Mexico. They lasted over 2 centuries from 1300-1521. The Aztecs built cities such as Tenochtitlan, it was founded 1325. The Aztec Empire ended in 1521 due to an Earthquake that caused Lake Texcoco to flood their bigger cities such as Tenochtitlan. The Aztecs believed it was a warning for the Fall of The Aztec Empire. In 1519 Hernando Cortes came to the East Coast of Mexico with spaniards,and in 1521 destroyed the Aztec Empire.

The Aztecs believed Arranged Marriages were the right thing to due for their children and with their relationships. The Aztecs that were getting married had to be a certain age to do so. Women were always younger than their spouse, the Men were the oldest.
Arranged marriages were also chose upon how you acted, how you look, etc. The Aztec Parents chose very wisely. The parents chose only women and men for marriage since they did not agree with same sex (gay) marriage.Once The Aztec marriage was settled, the lovers were allowed to get a divorce, both Men and Women had the right to do so.
Once they were settled in their marriage they were allowed to have kids. Once they did, the women stayed home and took care of the home and kids. And The Men trained for war. If the couple had a boy, he would have went to school, then train for war. If the Arranged couple had a girl it would have stayed home with the mother and take care of their siblings, if they had some, or help their mother around the

Marriage was mostly for economic benefits, not romantic situations. A wedding, rather than a religious ceremony, was a civil contract that set the responsibilities and duties of husband and wife . Historically, arrange marriages were the main way to marry. In certain parts of the world, it is still the primary approach. There are two types of arrange marriages. The first is a traditional marriage where the children can, with strong objections, refuse to marry their soon to be spouse. In a forced marriage, the children have no say in the matter. In the present, you can get married at the 18 years old. Yet in the Mayans Civilization, you were able to get married when you are 14 years old if you were a woman. If you were a man, you could get married when you were 20. If being married was the biggest thing in your life, it was a important moment to the Mayan Civilization. They were common among the royalty and nobility around the world. Modern arranged marriages are now linked to religious beliefs or by a cultural nom or financial stability. I am very interested in this topic area because I grew up in Srilanka, which is part of the Eastern world, where arranged marriages are very common. Since it is part of my tradition, I was brought up to believe that arranged marriage is the right type of marriage choice as my parents and grandparents also choose this type of marriage style. Mexicans are allowed to be with whoever they want as their spouse. There are some limitations to who they choose, especially those who come from specific background or class. Mexicans usually get married after an engagement is presented to them which can last for many years. The average age for a male to get married is around 24 and for a female it is around 22 years old. With the ever changing world, people get married at any age. Of all the Mexicans that were 12 years or older are either married or engaged. Love is the basis for marriage, but for the Mexicans, they look for someone that can provide some sort of security. A typical marriage ceremony consists of a church and religious reception. Once that part is over, the couple throws a huge and expensive party which consist of family and close friends. Divorce is not common in Mexico, but it can be done. Each household consisted of a father, mother and the children, typically 4-6 members in a household. The number of singles living was very uncommon. A large number of households consisted of extended family members. During horrible times, especially for the poor, a typical household consisted of the parents, the children and ancestors. It is said the newlyweds are allowed to live with relatives from either the husband or wife but for only a few years, just so that they are able to become independent. In the more countryside, families pretty much lived very close to one another and they were able to all share from one
