“Welcome to Character and Author Interviews!” Loud intro music starts to play while an animation plays on the broadcast screen. “Today we are here with the main character, and the author of “The Testing”, Malencia Vale and Joelle Charbonneau!” My heartbeat quickens as the presenter says my name. I think her name was Susan, but I wasn’t really paying attention. I don’t remember how I got here, all they told me is that I am not the real version of Malencia Vale, and that I have to ask my creator, or author as they call her, 3 questions about The Testing. According to their explanations, I am not the real version of Cia as I remember everything and even things that happened after the memory-wipe, something about magic and pulling me out of a book. …show more content…
“Question 2, why was the reasoning behind the mutated humans?” Again, she has no reaction and answers with a straight face, “A moral dilemma was a fun thing to write about and your mercy towards some of the mutated humans later on could be more reason for the reader to hope you live and pass the testing, the injury from the mutant was there to show your ability to think rationally in a deadly situation.” The presenter looks at her watch and says “Last question Cia, you might want to hurry up.” My hands find the little slip of paper and I take a moment to read over what I wrote down. “Question 3, why was Malachy killed so early in the testing?” Instead of a straight face, a small smirk forms on her face. “I knew a question like that would be asked. I had to show that the officials were not kidding around with the tests; most of the deaths you heard about were indirect and unconfirmed and I could not think of a better way to show the true penalty to failing the test than to fail Malachy right in front of you.” The timer rings just as she finishes her answer and the presenter stands up, “That’s all we have time for
In The Testing, there were many thrilling moments that kept me on the edge of my seat. Also, there were many choices that some characters made in the novel that made me question what was going to happen next. For example, when Will Tomas and Cia were all together before the passed the fourth test, “I shove Tomas to the side just as Will raises his gun and fires. But I’m not fast enough. I feel Tomas flinch as the bullet enters his abdomen.”(279). Will pointed the gun at Tomas with no hesitation. Cia loved Tomas and Will knew that. Cia helped Will when he was sick from one of the stages of the testing and Cia also helped him get through the phase of when his brother didn’t get picked after the first testing stage. Cia was an amazing friend to
Were you contacted by anyone indicating Michael is no longer at Harrah’s? His Change of address form I’ve attached shows a different company name and he’s a 49.10 member. I reached out to Kathy and have not heard back from her. Do you know if Playkia is a part of Harrah’s? Also, can you send me his Supreme Court order. We do not have it in his file to show what company he was admitted under.
Cia, a lovely girl who’s dream was to get chosen for The Testing, turned out to be wrong. She now wants to go back in time to stop herself from ever getting chosen. Her friend, Tomas, turns out to be more than just a pretty face.
For my In-Depth Interview paper, I chose to Interview my co-worker Senada Cufurovic whom I work with at Bank of the West. Senada finds herself culturally diverse as being from another country and culture. As long as I have known Senada from working with her for the past two years, I have never been able to get to know her background from where she came from until this opportunity to interview her came up.
The candidates then had to eat the ones they considered safe or “suffer the consequences”. Next, students are given a box and have to fix a broken pulse radio. While Malachi, one of the candidates from Five Lakes, was working on his radio a nail shot him in the eye. The candidates were instructed not to help and continue working. Cia began to resent the officials for their test but she could not do anything about it. The group continues doing their tests while facing the consequences of injury or death. Later that day, the candidates face the third test which is a group problem solving task.
The Testing and its constant, engaging sequences of events subject to change at a moments notice provided a wide array of options to discuss in greater detail. Conclusively, upon reading the story to the last word, it would presumably be speculated that the most impactful scenes came sprouting from the four individual Tests. This notion, however, could only prove to be true if the candidate in question failed The Testing in some form. This is because execution would provide to be a much more dire consequence spurring on the development of the plot rollercoaster than the expected, wholly uninteresting survival constantly seen with Cia. Accordingly, that is why the tiniest details proved to be of greater significance. Without the unveiling of the camera location to Michal, Cia would not have reaped the benefits of his constant help and support in the process of The Testing. Had she not opened up to her lunch peers in regards to her Testing struggles, the allied forces that resulted may have never grown to their greatest potential. It is certainly worth mentioning that numerous members of this original assemblage successfully completed The Testing and were recognized as one of the prestigious students of the University. Lastly, the recording to forewarn her future self of brutalities and betrayals committed back during a

The Greek forces won the Trojan War. The story of the war is a cornerstone of Greek legend, and pervaded Greek literature and culture. Though the evidence for the Trojan War as historical fact is scarce, it was a formative event in Greek cultural memory, producing some of the classical world’s most famous heroes and narratives. The War was won, Helen was retrieved from Paris, whose violation of ξενία was redressed, the heroes attained the κλέος that many of them fought for – and yet the positive outcomes of the Trojan War are difficult to grasp. For the victims of the Trojan War, the tragedy is obvious; the War ended in genocide and total cultural destruction. But such a war, burnt into legend, should have left the victors far better off; and yet, the Greek heroes only suffer because of it. They die tragic, dishonourable deaths; their households are left in ruin; their families are torn apart. From both modern and classical perspectives, the Trojan War is a tragedy, a “harrowing destruction of life” (Euripides, Andromache, 291). The victory is pyrrhic, the loss of life is horrific, the reparations non-existent.
In a society where everyone is competing with each other, you would assume someone with good intentions and logical views is more powerful than a crowd of thoughtless people. In To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee, this hypothesis was put to the test when Atticus Finch, a logical, unbiased lawyer, was given the task of testifying for an alleged rape case to a young girl named Mayella Ewell that was committed by a hard-working black man named Tom Robinson. As a novel set in the early 1930s, most people in Maycomb County, a district in Alabama, were prejudiced towards black people. Even worse, seemingly all of the people on the jury were prejudiced, a “thoughtless crowd”. While the logical person should be more powerful, this is unfortunately not the case because logic cannot change the views of thoughtless people, those with an unclear conscience have prejudices that can overpower, and quantity overrules quality.

My grade level is 7.2 because I need to use another type of words. Also, because I need to read more.
For my interview I chose my English professor because she is somewhat a harsh critic when it come to our papers and in class work. Instead of making an office appointment she asked me to do this interview after class.
