In the novel “To Kill a Mockingbird” by Harper Lee, there is a character named Atticus. He is one of the main characters in the book, This was set in the south during the Great depression. Atticus is the father of jem and scout. Atticus is also a lawyer and is on a case to protect a “negro” and prove he is not guilty for the rape of a white women. Atticus is a really good person and shows it through the book. These are the traits i found to show he is. His first trait that makes him a good person is persistence. Atticus is persistent by when he took tom robinson’s case. He already knew he had a small chance of winning because the town was mostly of whites and slavery didn’t end that long ago so they really didn’t respect them and
He answers any questions honestly and trusts his kids to do the right thing. He teaches them to love others by showing respect and he teaches Scout to put herself in other people's shoes to see their problems. He cares deeply for his kids and he wants them to have the best life. He allows Scout to be who she is and he doesn't judge others, like the Boo Radley. He also shows his kids his strong believe, that all men should be treated equally white or black, because of his teachings his kids learned to respect others. However Atticus also shows another type of love.
In our courts, when it’s a white man’s word against a black man’s, the white man always wins. They’re ugly, but those are the facts of life.” (221). Atticus is explaining to Jem why he lost the trial, this is mainly because of the unfairness with racism. Atticus is a man who wants that fairness, he knows right from wrong and is very different from many in the South because of this. He just gives the reader a warm, fuzzy feeling inside. He’s the type of person that would help you out if you were to go to him about a situation. Atticus is very respectful and kind human that cares about others more than himself. In chapter three Atticus is talking to Scout and says, “First of all,” he said, “if you can learn a simple trick, Scout, you’ll get along a lot better with all kinds of folks. You never really understand a person until you consider things from his point of view―until you climb into his skin and walk around in it.” (30). This is very strong, Atticus has understood the reason not to judge someone, to be kind, thankful, and caring. He’s a very inspirational figure in the novel, and he wants everyone to be treated
In the novel To Kill A Mockingbird, Harper Lee presents Atticus Finch as a principled lawyer, committed but single father to Scout and Jem, and a law-abiding citizen. Atticus is a respectable gentleman in society and a role model for his children. Throughout the book we see evidence of his honorable intentions, though he doesn’t seem to reap the rewards. He is morally upstanding, even-keeled, and daring. Because of these things, Atticus is a man who deserves great respect and admiration.

In the novel To Kill a Mockingbird, Harper Lee describes a person who puts these ancient words into practice and imitates Christ in many ways. A lawyer and father in the small town of Maycomb Alabama, Atticus Finch withstands the bombardments of a broken world during the early 1930’s. Through his sacrificial, kind, and deliberate characteristics, Atticus finch models a Christ like character.
Atticus is one of the major characters in To Kill a Mockingbird, and he appears in almost every chapter. Atticus is the father of Jem and Scout and appears in every chapter. While some might think Atticus is not a proper role model, he is a good role model because he treats everybody with respect, he sees other races as equal, and he fights for equality.
Atticus is a very good courageous and skilled man who lives in a time when their was so much hatred for a human race. But instead of doing something bad or fueling the fire Atticus accepts the challenges of life that he faces in To Kill A Mockingbird head
Many people don't possess intelligence or fairness or aren't even low key. But readers of the fictional novel called To Kill a Mockingbird written by Harper Lee know that Atticus Finch has all of these characteristics. Atticus played a big role in the novel. He was very tolerant. This taught Scout and Jem Finch to also be tolerant. In the novel, Scout learns to be patient with people and see things through their point of view. She also learns that all people aren't good. She comes of age while her father defends a black man named Tom Robinson. He was accused of raping Mayella Ewell, the daughter of Bob Ewell. Although everyone was very upset about the case, Atticus stayed low key and calm. Atticus Finch is a low key, fair, and intelligent man.
Atticus Finch is the protagonist in To Kill A Mockingbird. In the novel, Atticus is the character least infected by prejudice. In fact, his children are raised by a African American named Calpurnia. Also, he allows them to attend Calpurnia’s church. He is polite, respectful, and fair. His parenting style is different, it's just the way he is in public and how he acts with other adults. Atticus teaches Jem and Scout lessons about how taking advantage of the less fortunate is wrong. Like, when Bob Ewell spat on Atticus’s face, he understood that he took away the only thing the man posses which is his pride.
Although Atticus in Harper Lee’s novel To Kill A Mockingbird, may seem like a person with good character, he truly isn’t. Atticus does do some things in the novel that portrays good character but in the big picture, he isn’t that good of a person as readers might think he is.
In Harper Lee’s To Kill a Mockingbird, the character Atticus has the traits of being fair, smart, and honest. Jem and Scout wanted to shoot birds, and Atticus said that they can shoot all the blue jays they want, but that it is a sin to kill a Mockingbird. “... but remember it’s a sin to kill a mockingbird.” (Harper Lee, 119). This shows that Atticus is honest. Because he could have easily just said that they can shoot all the mockingbirds they want, this also shows that Atticus is a good father by telling them that if you kill a mockingbird it's a sin. Atticus is a lot older than a lot of the other kids at Scout and Jems school, but it also means he has more wisdom than other parents. “He sat in the livingroom and read.” (Harper Lee, 118).
To commence with, Atticus establishes many traits during the novel. The initial trait is intelligence. This is shown when Atticus is telling Scout what it truly takes to be able to fully judge someone for who they are. “You never really understand a person until you consider things from his point of view… Until you climb inside of his sin and walk around in it,” (Lee 36). Atticus is a great father for his children, even without having a spouse because he teaches them what they need to know for life and lets them be who they want to be. As a child, everyone finds at least one person they deem to be an important mentor to their lives. Growing up, my mom was always there to talk to me when I needed anything and I admired her for her patience and understanding. In Harper Lee’s To Kill a Mockingbird, the main character, Scout, had many significant role models that she could look up too, just as how I have looked up to my mom. Scout’s mother died before the story begins and she lives with her Dad, Atticus, and cook, Calpurnia. Atticus is a lawyer who takes on a huge case towards the middle of the novel; however, this is not a normal court cause because it consists of an innocent black man going against a disreputable white man. Even though this is a tough situation for Atticus

Atticus is a great parent. He does many things that make him a great parent such as, being respectful, giving great advice, and he is very caring. To begin with, Atticus does not expect the respect of his children but earns it, this is shown many times, but the best example is when he tells Scout “We’ll go on reading as we always have.” (pg.41) he is showing he respects Scout because he believes she is smart enough to read and agrees more with Scout than her teacher. Secondly, he gives them great advice, when Scout is upset about her teacher telling her not to read, Atticus tells her that she will get along with people better if she can climb into their skin and walk around in it. He makes her understand what is happening in her life and resolves her issue. Lastly, Atticus is very caring.
