The land of the Athabascan people has short hot summers with plenty of game and long dark cold winters with very little game. These changes in the weather forces the people to migrate across forests, rivers, lakes, creeks, and some prairies. Migration was a way for the people to survive in the “land that understood only strength” (Walls 7). Without strength in the community and within an individual the long migrations that usually occur in winter to follow the caribou would lead to death. The community relies on small groups within it to be specialized on tasks and a strong community allows the small groups to support each other to meet physical and mental needs with optimal energy use. For example, the men would meet the nutritional needs
At least 40,000 years ago there was a group of indians known as the Paleo- Indians. These Indians were in need of food, so they followed a herd of mammoths eastward. The Paleo- Indians migrating from Asia to the Americas. In the text, “ Following the Food” the authors perspective of the Paleo- Indians is dexterous, insightful, and competent in difficult situations.
Community development involves changing the relationships between ordinary people and people in positions of power, so that everyone can take part in the issues that affect their lives. It starts from the principle that within any community there is a wealth of knowledge and experience which, if used in creative ways, can be channeled into collective action to achieve the communities' desired goals.
Chapter Four The five basic tenets of an abundant community include satisfaction with what one has, the capacity to provide what is needed, a cooperative rather than competitive system, responsibility for one another, and living within the reality of the human condition (McKnight & Block, 2010, p. 66). When these beliefs are met, prevention and provision occur. Competent communities, which focus on the gifts of members, nurture their way of life, and are hospitable, create capacities for families and neighborhoods; kindness, generosity, forgiveness, cooperation, acceptance of fallibility, and mystery (p. 68). The authors do not explain these capacities in depth at this time; it would be particularly helpful to know what they mean by mystery.
I believe the necessary elements in the successful implementation of a community program would be a local environment that will support
As you can see, creating a strong community is crucial. Building a stronger community can build a safer environment, which together can create a stronger impact. Being involved in a community can make us feel a part of something significant than ourselves. The older we get, the harder it can get to connect with those around us. This community-bond can help us create a friendly environment. Whether it is seeking a job or starting your own business, a strong community can provide all the support you need to
Community is not define as a small area in a city, but a united front of people, culture, or nation. It’s an understatement word that hold history and a philosophical meaning. A service club values the passion to promote welfare. That’s why they support so many charities because events and organization like YMCA make a difference in so many children life. As a past YMCA member, I know that they made a huge impact.
Community is built of two main elements. First, community requires communal caring. Members need to put themselves in positions where they are able to relate to other members and does everything “within reasonable limits of self-sacrifice” (65). The second is communal reciprocity. Individuals will serve other members of the community, not for exchange of goods, but to provide generosity and support. These elements of community appear in the lives of all individuals, even the most capitalist ones. Humans are entirely capable of these.
Human development and hardiness is put onto display when thinking about Eskimo, or Inuit lifestyle. Not only do they show abundant advancement in human development and thinking but also they do so while dealing with the harshest of climates. It is through their culture, technology, strategies and overall lifestyles that we can truly appreciate the immense adaptation and growth that comes of people of these groups. This is especially true for the Eskimos of the Hudson Bay Region.
When I think of the word community, the first thing that usually pops into my mind is an image of a support group. There are many different kinds of support groups, all created to treat different things. Every support group tries to achieve the goal of creating a community of like-minded people and helping those who are in a group get to a better place.
The lecturer argues that the evidence to support the Anasazi migration has serious problems. This directly contradicts the passage’s claim that the Anasazi left their homelands owing to a drought.
Therefore, the citizens will strive to be stronger and more helpful towards the community itself (p. 2). I stand with his beliefs. If one lives in a small community, the community will be safer, politically stronger, and will grow through generations. A smaller community will be safer for its inhabitants.
What is the importance of community? Please talk about your experience with working with diverse groups of people and how you interact with others that are different from you in a community setting.

When our ancestors first migrated out of Africa around 60,000 years ago, they were not alone. At that time, at least two other species of hominid cousins walked the Eurasian landmass—Neanderthals and Denisovans. As our modern human ancestors migrated through Eurasia, they encountered the Neanderthals and interbred. Because of this, a small amount of Neanderthal DNA was introduced into the modern human gene pool.
Community is very important and has many factors like kinship, unity, and identity. Community helps society because it creates solutions, provides security and reveals dedication. It discovers truthfulness. Communities are part of everyday life and have positive affects on its members.
