In the United States, there are millions of adults and children who suffer with Asthma a chronic lung disease. Asthma can develop at any age and most asthma sufferers are between the ages of 6 to 40 years. Both my mother and I are Asthma sufferers, which is why I have chosen this disease to write about. My mother was young when she was diagnosed with this disease, she was fourteen years old; however, I was even younger, age three. Having to live with this disease you learn how to manage your symptoms to maintain a healthy quality of life.
Asthma, is a lung disease that causes distressed and labored breathing. In your lungs there are airways; and in an asthma attack (also called a flare-up), your airways become inflamed and the lining gets thick
Asthma Attack – An asthma attack is a sudden worsening of asthma symptoms caused by the tightening of muscles around the airways. During an asthma attack, the lining of the airways also become swollen or inflamed and thicker mucus, more than normal, is produced. All of these factors, cause symptoms of an asthma attack such as difficulty breathing,
The main region Zodiac Killer has terrorized is San Francisco Bay Area. Zodiac killer has not be caught yet. There are a list of suspects. According to surviving victim Mageau, the man was white, 5'8" to 5'9", late 20s to early 30s, stocky build, round face and brown hair.
Asthma is the most common chronic disease in children (Kahn and Boskey). Childhood asthma is when the lungs and airways become inflamed when something comes in contact to trigger it. There are different objects or activities to trigger a child’s asthma and if not treated appropriately it can cause an asthma attack. This disease can outbreak from a cold or any respiratory infection. Daily symptoms can interfere with a child’s asthma like a cold, sports, school, or play ("Childhood Asthma."). In the United States, it is estimated that approximately 5 million children under the age of 18 have this disease. In 1993 alone, asthma was the reason for almost 200,000 hospital stays and about 340 deaths under the age of 25 (Kahn and Boskey). Normally children will outgrow this disease by the time they
Asthma is a chronic inflammatory disease of the airway that impacts a person’s and their family’s quality of life. In people with asthma, their airway becomes constricted with swelling and excessive mucous. This constriction or narrowing of the airway makes it difficult for the person with asthma to breath (Massachusetts Department of Public Health, 2009). If asthma is left uncontrolled, it leads to further wheezing, coughing, shortness of breath, tiredness, and stress. (Massachusetts Department of Public Health, 2009).
Asthma is a disease that affects your lungs. It causes repeated episodes of wheezing, breathlessness, chest tightness, and nighttime or early morning coughing. Asthma can be controlled by taking medicine and avoiding the triggers that can cause an attack. You must also remove the triggers in your environment that can make your asthma worse.
In a narrative format I will provide a comprehensive summary of the concepts and presuppositional assumptions of the life course perspective including an overview of its main principles, strengths and weaknesses. I will give definition and all points need to be made of the life life course perspective.
Asthma is a long term non-communicable lung disease that inflames and narrows your airways. If you have asthma then you will most likely have issues with chest tightness (feels like someone is wringing out your insides). You will also have shortness of breath, for example: if you walk up a flight of stairs, you could be breathing like you just ran a marathon. You also tend to have more mucus because
Asthma is a long-term lung disease. Those with asthma have sensitive airways in their lungs which triggers a flare up. When this flare up happens the muscle around the airways squeeze tight and the airways swell, become narrows and produce more mucus. (Anon., 2016) All these things make it harder for a person to breathe. Asthma effects the human body’s respiratory system. Asthma causes a spasm and constriction of the bronchial passages and the swelling and the inflammation of the mucous lining. The body responds by defence cells from the immune system, which causes the airways to swell and the muscles surrounding the airways to contract. Which is what cuts off the airflow. While a person is in asthma attack, the asthmatic cannot breathe which
Asthma may show symptoms of other diseases in an adult such as heart failure, COPD, rheumatic arthritis or stomach problems (Levy, et al., 2014). Therefore, age will have the greatest impact on diagnosis. A nurse practitioner must be aware of how adult onset asthma may mimic symptoms of other expected age related ailments. As a larger portion of adult onset asthma is initiated by allergies, acute pathophysiology may more closely resemble that of allergies (Levy, et al., 2014). Treatment for adult onset would be focused on maintaining as it is predominantly chronic in nature. Additionally, a thorough review of medication to ensure there are no incompatibilities (Levy, et al.,
Asthma is an inflammation of the airways. Smooth muscles get tight and trap air in alveoli. When a person is in asthma attack he has a dry cough, shortness breathing and feels tightness in the chest. It often happens at night. Usually asthma comes in several generations and the causes of it are not fully understood. Common triggers are stress, pollen, dust, animal dangers, pollution, mold, changing weather conditions and chemicals. There are two types of asthma- extrinsic and intrinsic. Most common type of asthma is extrinsic asthma. Extrinsic asthma is based of allergies but intrinsic of weather conditions (to cold, dry air)
Asthma, as defined by the NIH, “is a chronic lung disease that inflames and narrows the airways. Asthma causes recurring periods of wheezing (a whistling sound when you breathe), chest tightness, shortness of breath, and coughing.” (National Institutes of Health, National Heart, Lung and Blood Institute [NHLBI], 2015). There are risk factors that may predispose a child to developing asthma, which include having allergies, eczema, and/or having parents who have asthma. Asthma is not a disease that is preventable. (NHLBI, 2015). The risk or likelihood that someone would have asthma is based on the biological makeup of the individual that would predispose them to the disease, rather than behavioral, environmental, or even social factors.
Asthma is a respiratory disease characterized by spasms in the bronchi of the lungs, resulting in difficulty breathing as well as coughing, wheezing, and chest tightness. This condition affects nearly 26 million Americans, and causes over 5,000 deaths and 2 million emergency department visits in the US each year. While asthma affects people of every race, sex, and age, it is more prevalent in specific populations of people, such as low-income housing communities in San Diego. Various risk factors contribute to the development of asthma, such as (1) having a parent that lives with (or has a history with) asthma, (2) being classified as an overweight individual, (3) having sensitization to different irritants and allergens, and (4) struggling
According to the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute, Asthma is a chronic lung disease that affects the airways, which is comprised of tubes that carry air in and out of the lungs. People who experience difficulties breathing have inflamed airways. The inflammation causes the tubes to swell and become sensitive, especially when inhaling strong substances. As a result, the airways tighten and the muscles around the tubes become swollen and narrower. In addition, cells in the airways might produce more mucus. This sticky and thick mucus makes it even more difficult for air to pass into the lungs.
People travel from many parts of the world to view the great architectural structures Greece has to offer. They are not only intrigued by the beauty of the buildings but also by their complex development. Greeks’ tradition of building structure came from the ideas of Philosophers such as Thales,Pythagoras, and Archimedes, who questioned their being and challenged their world to find meaning to certain practical applications. From their inquisitions, the Greek Philosophers developed basic but complex strategies that served the purpose of a foundation to many other technical advancements.
Asthma is is a disease of airways in which there is narrowing of airways due to inflamation.
