As being a member of the Associated Student Body, I have experienced many leadership roles. We aspire to create events in which our student body can be more involved in at our school and increase school spirit. What comes along with having a small school that does not follow traditional high school experiences, such as football games or big pep rallies, it becomes difficult to bring out student appreciation for our school. As a leader of ASB, my biggest obstacle is to create a school environment as close to the high school experience, in order to provide our students the opportunity to look back at their high school years as one of the most memorable years of their youth. This year, our biggest challenge was to put out the best Junior Ball
Leadership is being able to guide other students into being the best they can be. I am a leader who is always positive and cheering others on to achieve their goals. At my school, I have a position as the Vice President of Academics in National Honors Society. Since I have obtained this position, I encourage other students in this group to participate in service projects which is where one volunteers to help out the community in some aspect. These volunteering opportunities are good thing to do because it builds character and it is always fun helping others out. As a leader, I bring new ideas to the table on where we should help out in the community and anything that we could do in school that would fun and helpful. Along with participating in National Honors Society at my school, I am also involved in our Student Government Association. Although I do not have a leadership position in this club, I still engage in the activities that we do. For the past two years, I have gone to an annual meeting for leadership where multiple schools attend. At this meeting there are fun activities where you learn more about leadership and how to be a good leader. As a leader, these meetings help because it is always good to learn new
I want to become a Bank of America student leader I want to be a good leader but also a true leader, which is a leader that leads by example. In able to help my community and to encourage fellow students like myself, I have to set the foundation and example for them. By participating in the Student Leaders program, I can learn to become a better person, but more importantly, a better leader. As a senior preparing for graduation, it is critical that I understand where I intend to head in life. With this program, I think that it can provide me with an even more clarity about my goals and aspirations. I believe I should be chosen to be a Bank of America Student Leader because with my diverse background and skills, I believe I can be a great addition
I display the core value of leadership, teamwork, and sportsmanship by being the captain of the cross country team, and the president of the National English Honor Society (NEHS). It is my duty to demonstrate qualities such as organization and competence since I’m the face of both of these associations. Being the captain of the cross country team has made me into a role model. The cross country team is very diverse with African-American, Whites, and Hispanics runners. Furthermore, my role as captain has allowed me to grow closer with my teammates and learn more about their heritage. Being able to train and compete with people from different backgrounds has helped me interact with different people and better understand the world. Through this
I exemplify the National Honor Society’s core value of leadership because of my responsibility and my hard work. When working in a group, I am the person who takes charge and gets all of the group members on the right track. I divide up the parts as evenly as possibly and do my best to ensure that each person contributes. If a person is working slower than others, I help them complete their work as soon as I finish my own. Because a leader must be responsible, I prove my responsibility through the fact that I have never turned an assignment in late. If I am given a task to do, I always do it to the best of my ability no matter what it takes. I also demonstrate leadership outside of school when I am at swim practice. I serve as the role model in my group by always being there and
Membership in Alpha Phi is lifelong and many of our graduated sisters continue to serve as leaders in our Fraternity. Bishop's Alpha Phi's own advisory board has six alumnae, four of which are BU grads!
If the world was a piece of sheet music, I would be the time signature. I would be the source of consistency to bring an entire population of people become of one accord. I make a difference on my team and in my community by being the pulse of the environment I'm in. This impact is embodied in my love for building and teaching.
We believe that our youth are the leaders of tomorrow, and leadership can be learned and should be practiced. Therefore, Moving in the Spirit’s student leadership philosophy involves giving students opportunities to practice leadership skills in a supportive learning environment. We believe it is critical for students to have increased opportunities to be social change agents and engaged citizens because our communities need more people who have the skills and ability to provide a positive impact in the communities in which they live in. Our class structure and youth development workshops are the foundation of the development of leadership skills. We work to develop the following leadership skills of effective communication; conflict resolution;
The roar of the crowds on opposite ends of the field are music to my hears. Thousands of different voices all spurting out a million separate ideas on how to set up our Aztec mascot tunnel, while the band blares out the latest pop hit insync. My heart pounds in my chest as I watch the football players take the field. I look up into the stands and see the joy on all of my friend’s faces. I smile as I recall all the hard work I’ve done in order to make this night, along with all the others, so memorable. This has been my world since that first home football game freshman year. ASB or the associated student body class I’ve taken the past three years of high school, truly has helped shaped me into the person I am today. By being actively involved
During the summer between my sophomore and junior years, I was one of four students selected to represent my school and council at the National Josten’s Renaissance conference in Orlando Florida. My fellow students and I learned a great deal about other schools around the country and we wanted to take some ideas back to our school to implement them. One of our key ideas focused on recognizing various students at our high school that constantly achieve remarkable feats, but largely go unnoticed by the school as a whole. Being vice president of my class, I took charge of this initiative and designed a solution to the problem. I advocated that we replace our typical, mundane, class meetings with class rallies, a pep rally type atmosphere for more
Senior Ryan Tilley doesn’t only cheer for his school, he gives his school something to cheer about. Wherever Ryan, otherwise known as The Life of the Party, is he brings his enthusiasm for school activities ranging from parades to sporting events, and everything in between. Seeing that he is in Student Council and National Honor Society he even takes part in planning exciting activities for his fellow classmates in hopes that it will increase school pride. In addition to this, Ryan plays for his school’s football, basketball, and baseball teams. Just last year Hominy High School ended their football season undefeated and brought home their fifth football state championship with the final score being forty-two to fourteen; this is something
Joining my school’s Associated Student Body (ASB) has allowed me to improve the environment and atmosphere at school while also giving myself a greater voice. As the recent class secretary and future class president, I am committed to enhancing the experiences of my peers in high school. In a school that is vastly underfunded and with many students living in poverty, it becomes hard for students to become spirited and support our fundraisers because of the mediocre quality of our school as well as simply being unable to afford things. My class and I are dedicated to ensuring that every student has the opportunity to make the most of their high school experience, regardless of their background. From selling frozen goods to reduce prom charges
As a four year member of Student Council and the Student Athlete Leadership Team (SALT), I have always been eager to increase my leadership in both. At the end of freshman year I became president of my class and have remained so into senior year, now student body president as well. I lead the weekly student meetings and meet with school administrators on a biweekly basis. For the past two years I planned Homecoming, seeing it as a chance to test my communication and organizational skills. I continued to improve upon these skills when placed on a steering committee junior year for the SALT district-wide dodgeball tournament that raised $2,200 for the Lauren Hill Foundation. Some of my tasks included speaking at local elementary schools, designing the informational booth, and assisting in the raffle and ticket collection. This year, SALT is raising money to build a well in Africa and I look forward to taking a leadership role in this as well.
The Honors Student Association has provided me with some of the best opportunities that I have experienced here at UNO. I have had the pleasure of being a part of this association for three years which has allowed me to broaden my relationships with other students in the Honors Program and strengthen my own personal skills. It is because of these elements that I want to further my involvement in the association through this position. I am the appropriate individual for this position because of my involvement with and dedication to HSA. I am committed to attending the weekly meetings to help develop and create events for other honors students to enjoy. I have been able to learn the appropriate skills and requirements to host and organize a variety
I hope to strive as an independent woman that is successful in the business world. Through the Associate Student Body, I have sparked an interest in being a leader and making decisions. In business, I will continue to practice the qualities that I have adapted. Additionally, because I have had the experience of leadership, taking it into the real world will not be as difficult for me than it could be for others. College will help me further develop these skills onto a higher scale. I will be able to work alongside peers that strive the same goals as I and motivate me to be better. In college I’ll be diligent, earning good grades, and participate in on and off campus activities in order to network and build of bases of connections in order to
