The meals I had were low in dietary fiber, copper, and vitamin B12. The chicken eggroll I ate, provided the most nutrients for the above-mentioned supplements. However, the chicken eggroll and the other food were not enough to meet the target nutrition this day.
2b. Specific foods that would improve my diet:
To achieve the desired dietary fiber, I have to eat more food that are good sources of fiber such as beans, peas, vegetables, fruits, and whole grains. To have an adequate copper intake, I will include in my diet shellfish, whole grains, and dark leafy green vegetables. To improve my vitamin B12 intake, I have to eat more meat, fish, eggs, dairy products and other vitamin B12 fortified food

My food choices don’t have a lot of fibers therefore; I need to take fiber supplements.

Many Americans are suffering from nutrition issues. There are approximately 12.5 million children and adolescents aged 2-19 years that are obese (CDC). The proper health and nutrition for children is very critical to their growth and development. The media and its promotion of junk food is one way that affects obese children. Within this paper, I will discuss the long and short term impacts of obesity on children, their growth and development, describe a specific child who is affected by obesity, and give three ways to combat obesity that involves collaboration among schools, families, and communities.

During the three days of documented intake, my fiber consumption was only 24.3% of the daily recommendation. Fiber helps promote proper digestive functions, helps lower cholesterol, and helps in lowering the risk of diabetes and heart disease. My intake was too low based on the recommended consumption, and according to the data, I should eat more foods that are rich in fiber. These can be insoluble fiber sources like wheat bran and nuts or soluble fiber sources like oats, beans, and apples. The only foods that provided fiber in my meals were the bagels.

The intake of nuts and legumes are good because they have fatty acids and proteins and proteins are a type of nutrient. Proteins help the body to grow and to repair tissues. They new food pyramid says that you should take in 0-2 servings of fish, poultry ,and eggs because all of these contain all the essential amino acids. Since amino acid is the monomer of proteins, this relates to protein. The body uses about 20kmds of amino acids to construct the protein it needs. Amino acids are essential for growth. Fish, poultry and eggs also contain Vitamin B so they are also essential for growth and the functioning of the eyes. The new food pyramid says that you should eat about 1-2 servings of daily products or calcium supplements. Since dairy products contain calcium and a little bit of phosphorus they are essential for the deposition in bones, the formation of ATP and nucleic acids and for the functioning of the heart muscles and nerves. You should limit your intake of red meat, butter, white rice, white bread, potatoes, pasta, and sweets to a ver low amount because if you take too much you can get diseases and disorders. But it is good to take some of these food because they also contain a little bit of Vitamin B which are essential for growth and the functioning of the nervous system. These food also can serve as fats which serve as a cushion for the food or a reserve energy supply.

The lesson that was completed in stage three directly aligns with the Common CoreStandards and are things that should be accomplished at the fourth-grade level. The concepts that were taught were all factors that would help illustrate the bigger picture to students so they could understand the logic behind this lesson.By the fourth grade, students need to have a good grasp on nutrition. They need to understand why healthy eating is important and ways they can achieve that. They are beginning to think for themselves and need to know that important choices with food is imperative for their health. By having them complete pamphlets that would be distributed, they need to understand what they are promoting. By having them go through the different steps that were in stage three, they were able to gather that information and help them boost their understanding of nutrition and healthy foods. Throughout stage three, technology was used in planning and helping the students achieve their learning goals. The first example of the lesson accomplishing this was when the students had to watch the nutrition video on the computer on the first day of the lesson. This was an informative video that was age appropriate. I think that without the students watching this video they would have had a difficult time reaching their goals with this lesson and future, related lessons. By having the students view this video it helped them connect the content and specific learning goals. They were
In the past few weeks, I have attempted to exercise at least 5 times a week, challenge myself by eating more fruits and veggies, drinking more water, eating more superfoods, and getting at least 8 hours of sleep at night. I also worked on overall improving my own wellness with more meditation, winding down at night before sleeping, and dumping the processed, unhealthy foods. At the beginning, I thought this would be simple, but as days passed, I soon realized how unhealthy my usual lifestyle is and how much better I was feeling focusing more on my health. From running a mile around the neighborhood to sleeping more at night, I saw an improvement physically and mentally.
