A1: As a resident of Buford, Georgia (USA), a suburb of Metro Atlanta, there is an abundance of reduce, reuse, and recycle services in the area. Within ten minutes from our home, Goodwill Industries International, Inc. (reduce) accepts donations ranging from clothes, shoes, furniture, sports equipment, and more. In addition, family members (myself included) frequently visit Goodwill stores for quality used items that cost a fraction of the price and an opportunity for reuse. Q4: Please outline in your own words, one new thing you learned this week in the course. How does it apply to your life?
A4: The most valuable information learned has been understanding energy loss across trophic levels (a.k.a. food chain). The loss of energy across trophic levels seems logical since electromagnetic energy attenuates over distance. Furthermore, there is clarity to how trophic levels are affected by different biomes and human disturbances. It's concerning how PCBs, CFCs, and other chemicals have infiltrated most (or all) organisms across the globe. In short, these chemicals are change agents that modify food (trophic levels) and water sources by detectable amounts.
