Goal 1: Optimize infrastructure operations. Objective 1: Acquire hardware to support the virtual environment. The hardware needs to be powerful enough to accommodate several VM instances. The objective will be a success when hardware has been acquired and installed. There are 4 tasks that must be completed: Deliverable 1: Interview staff to gain a better understanding of what the systems needs to support. Found out what actions they are performing the most and what services are used most often. Deliverable 2: Analyze the current infrastructure using MAP tool. MAP provides a report detailing the potential efficiency gained consolidating into VMs. Deliverable 3: Research hardware options and purchase best option suited for ABC. Analysis of price …show more content…
The servers must be added to Starwind and configured to see the witness disk. Deliverable 3: Create shared storage on HYPERV1. The shared storage is where data will be written and synced between the hosts. Data will still be accessible on the running nodes if another node fails. Deliverable 4: Replicate the shared storage to HYPER2 and HYPER3. This sets up the servers to participate in the sharing. Heartbeat connection is configured so hosts can detect whether a host suffered a failure and adjust dynamically. Objective 4: Configure failover and connect hosts to CSVs. Failover and multipath features must be installed on each hosts. VMs can be created or existing VMs moved into the failover manager and stored in the CSVs. There are 4 tasks that must be completed: Deliverable 1: The Failover Manager and Multipath I/O roles will be installed on each host. VMs can be created or existing VMs can be moved into Failover Manager where they will be managed. Multipath allows the use of multiple connection between devices which provides redundancy. Deliverable 2: Create cluster and add host servers. Clusters must have a unique name and IP address to differentiate from to the
Parallel clustering: the database application is run parallel on both hosts. The difficulty in implementing parallel clusters is providing some form of distributed locking mechanism for files on the shared disk.
At this point during our configuration, we have all of the hardware implementation in place. We will be utilizing seven servers, rather than the initially proposed four. The servers and networking components are configured. Once we acquire licence from OnApp, we will be able to install the OS onto the servers. As of now, all of our servers are connected and ready to be used. Once the desired operating systems are installed onto each servers, we will be able to configure core networking services in order to cluster them. In addition, we have acquired appropriate subnet mask and IP ranges to be used for our nodes. All our hardware will using static IP addresses.
In this topology, The distributed systems are connected at different sites to loosely coupled with gateway system members. The cached data between different sites is entire to the applications within each distributed system. If any system becomes unavailable, the rest of the installation to continues and
a virtual machine from one physical host to another in the event of a failure to provide fault tolerance.
First off to start the assignment only requires writing about four different types of failures that can happen on a distributed system, however there are many more than just four types of failures that can happen and they are all important to learn about if you are going to work with a distributed system so that you know how to deal with and handle each one of them.
1. This project will be limited to the installation of servers, WAN connections and the development, testing, and implementation.
As we all know virtualization is the requirement of future. We have evolved from the age of traditional environment to virtual environment. We have grown accustomed to almost all things virtual from virtual memory to virtual networks to virtual storage. The most widely leveraged benefit of virtualization technology is server consolidation, enabling one server to take on the workloads of multiple servers. For example, by consolidating a branch office’s print server, fax server, exchange server, and web server on a single windows server, businesses reduce the costs of hardware, maintenance, and staffing.
The first physical server required is installed with the RD Virtualization Host role, which has Hyper-V as a prerequisite, in order to host virtual machines (VMs). Several RD Virtualization Host servers can be pooled to create a larger array of virtual hosts.
For the next critical level, we have the enterprise edition. It provides a cost-effective way to realize the benefits of virtualization.
Significance: This topic is important to my audience because of the increasing number of people accessing the internet. Implementing virtualization
of the job, the availability-state of the VMs and their associated prices. In subsection 4.1, we give the
This dissertation aims to comparatively analyse and evaluate the implementation regarding the performance, cost reduction through reduced administration and usability of the two competing provider’s solutions, namely, VMware vCloud Director Orchestrator and Microsoft System Centre Orchestrator.
Once you have a distributed system that consist of different pasts, then the different parts can be hosted in that container.
The three deliver methods of cloud computing/storage is software as a service (SaaS), Platform as a Service (PaaS) and Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS). The service provides on-demand pay per use and is independent of a platform.
This business case investigation discusses in depth about the process of virtualization of servers in an organization and the various benefits of doing so. Giving a brief introduction to the concept of virtualization, it was introduced in the late 1960s when the resources of mainframe computers were divided between several applications. [1] The term virtualization has since then been expanded in terms of practical application. The conversion of the physical server into a pool containing several virtual machines which act individually as one computer is known is hardware virtualization.
