Assignment 1: A Class Analysis

HSC 3550 is one of the most important upper division classes for the students of Health Science major. I learned a lot from this class like legal and ethical issues that come along with U.S health system. I was totally unaware of the many facts of our health system and now I have enough knowledge to talk about. I have started reading online news and blogs about our health system and its legal and ethical matters. Two-class presentation was very helpful as well, that helped me to master at least those two chapters for sure. Some of the instructions or I can say our prompts were very complicated and nuanced for our individual paper, it was hard to understand and no proper instructions were given from where to begin. MCO Wanda stated she was making relief at Colorado/5th. As she was making relief she heard a loud noise. The bus was at stand still at the bus stop.

The five-minute warning bell goes off. I rush to my first class of my junior year, eager to see my classmates, who I was going to spend the rest of the 9 months with. I find myself stumbling into a classroom plastered with decorations of Denzel Washington with a Dr. Seuss book in his hand, a t and college flags galore. My AP English 11 class suddenly seemed so appealing to me. As a beautiful, curly haired short lady stood in front of me and said “Welcome to AP English 11,” I knew that I had found a treasure so much greater than just a pretty classroom. Little did I know, that short lady was going to inspire me throughout my challenge filled second-to-last year of high school.

In conclusion, we have learned a lot about diversities and different cultures in this English 1050 class, including all the different students that we learned about through the weekly discussions. I love to read the weekly post because everyone has different opinions that I can learn. I came from Asia and living in America, and I think in my life experience, I experienced a lot about the diversity and ethnicity issue. To change that and use Ethnicity to bring people together is the big issue nowadays. Might to find some common ground and realize we are all the same. At the very core of our being, we are people, and it is up to us to find ways we can unite and become stronger as a complete whole. Finally, thanks for everyone who fought with

Whenever I first start a new class I look through the syllabus and pages of the book for the class to get an overall idea what will be the main emphasis/class. In SOCI 2001, it was a lot of what I expected yet the information about was more intense in regards to the history of how racial discrimination got started all over the world. Seeing that other nations were as bad to their own people as they were to immigrants astounded me. To read how countries cast their own people away like they meant nothing was a real eye opener.

When in the classroom learning is something that is like a seesaw. The ups and downs come with some classes more than others. The classes that I have found my most ups and downs are English, math, and science. When learning you can not just keep failing by not seeking help. These are the most challenging classes stem from one of these subjects, but there is always a way to make it through with these three steps; finding the situation, assessing it, and seeking help.

On January 14th I was able to learn about three of my classmates in my composition II class. The three classmates I learned about are Djordje, Natalie, and Angelica. We learned about each other’s hobbies, achievements, and goals.

However, it needed a lot of effort in the beginning to start a good class. We spent too much time preparing this class from scratch. Moreover, the class was and still elective not core or required course.

One of the classes I think I've grown in is Algebra 1 because in the beginning of the year I wasn't understanding what the teacher was teaching. Well I was but I didn't know how to do the problem. Until I studied and studied until I finally got how to do the problem and I kept on studying to get the future problems. Another class I've grown in is Biology because I didn't pay attention in class when the teacher was talking and I didn't write down notes so when the quiz or test came I was struggling on the assessment. I have gotten a better habit of writing down notes and pay attention when the teacher is talking. Or when the teacher is explaining how to do a problem or a project we have to do so I wont be struggling a lot while doing my work.

The author of this response has been asked to pen a self-reflective essay that addresses five main points. These points, in order, are where the author of this response improved the most over the course of the class, to provide an evaluation of the work the author did and an explanation of how the work could have been performed better, topics that have been identified that the author did not understand or were not successful in trying to implement and how the course work could have been better, ways the author would measure future success based on what has been learned in the course and whether the author achieved the course objectives.

2) What study tips would you give to students who enroll in this class next term?  You can discuss whatever you think might be useful: time-management tips, what to study, how to study, what to do, or what not to do.

Sitting in my Algebra 1 class, I waited for my teacher to dismiss us. Apparently, my classmates didn’t get the memo since the second the bell rang, everyone dashed towards the door, while I remained seated and casually asked my teacher if she had distributed out the homework. I only did such act because no homework assigned in math is an anomaly, disrupting the balance and structure of the class. To many of my peers, school, in particular, homework, is treated as a burden, but I see it as necessary supplementary practice to succeed in school.

American Literature II is a class that delineates very unique pieces of literature from the 1800’s until this present day. If I had the privilege to teach an American Literature II class, I think it would be fun, and a way to better help me understand the pieces of literature as the students understand them. I would want my students to get a thorough overview of literary creations in the United States as it pertains to the 18th and 19th Centuries to this present day of Post-Modern.

During the time of writing Project 1 I experienced immense growth, in all four WPA outcomes and all eight habits of mind.
