While representation varies based on individual preferences, the general sign of the Aryan Brotherhood comes in the form of a shamrock, the letters “AB”, or three sixes. Members of the prison gang will generally have these symbols tattooed somewhere on their body. Only members of the AB are permitted to wear the “brand” of the gang and individuals found to be wearing the tattoo without consent of AB leadership are subject to death (Diaz, 2013).
Leadership within the organization is scattered due to the prison subculture that hosts the group. While there is no outright “commander” of the Aryan Brotherhood, there are a number of similar traits displayed by the most active and high-ranking members of AB. The following three examples have been
First: they were the first gang in Chicago (Quite possibly the whole USA too) to ever using gang signs. The sign was the formation of 2 hands in the shape of a Cobras head.
They currently have approximately 15,000 members, in and out of prison. Initially formed for the protection of whites against blacks in prison, the gang gradually moved to becoming a criminal enterprise. The AB are concerned with white-supremacy, and are a ruthless gang who regularly murder those who oppose the system, growing so out of control at times, that even their own ranking members could not consider themselves safe. In prison, they strive to control the sale of drugs, gambling, and “punks,” or male prostitutes. The Aryan Brotherhood has carried out contract killings for the Mexican Mafia, but racist beliefs prevent members from consorting with African Americans, including even taking a cigarette or a candy bar from them. The only way to be a member is to abide by their philosophy of “Blood In – Blood Out.” -Kill somebody to become a member and die to part from it. AB members make up approximately 1% of the prison population nationwide, but are responsible for up to 18% of murders in the federal prison system. http://listverse.com/2010/12/11/top-10-us-prison-gangs/
A new commander taking over the unit following COL Steele’s departure will have to establish a command climate that overcomes the current culture within the Rakkasans. The new commander must confer with his leadership team to determine what the issues are within the culture that leads to the unethical command. The first step should be to disseminate command climate surveys. The results of the command climate survey would help judge the extent to which soldiers assess the ethical situation
Aryan Brotherhood was found in 1964 in a Federal prison system, which is San Quentin State Prison in California, United States. This gang was known as the “Brand or AB”. The brotherhood is a white supremacist prison gang that is known for the violent criminal activities in and out of prison. During the 1960`s, a group of white convicts serving time at San Quentin, were fed up with the with white prisoners being victimized by one particular predominant gang known as “The Black Gorilla Family”. However, that’s when whites started Aryan Brotherhood for their own protection. Aryan Brotherhood based their gang off Nazism, so to get into the gang, you had to kill a black prisoner. Which brings us to their motto, “Blood In, Blood Out”. Blood in refers
A trademark of the MS-13, they have “established a reputation for extreme violence and for killing with machetes” (BBC). The MS-13 boast their tattoos and do not hide who their criminal activities, evident of the slaughtering of four young-males in New York last week. Although there is little overall leadership in the MS-13, the cliques formed are ripened with familial structure. The members will kill, rape, and die for each other at the expense of everyone else. Since they have inferior structure, the MS-13 employ a street type of gang activity. he MS-13 are easy to spot in a crowd because their tattoos are apparent and extravagant. Common tattoos include “MS-13, “MS”, “Salvatrucha”, the “Devil Horns”, and the name of their clique. However, similar to other gangs, they have “been moving away from the tattoos in an effort to commit crimes without being noticed and get away with them” (weebly). MS-13 typically wear blue and white, the colors of the El Salvadoran flag, bandanas, and sports jerseys with the numbers 13, 23, or 3. Although the MS-13 include various ages, they are strict when it comes to ethnicity in their membership. The majority of members are Hispanic and, specifically, are from Central American countries like El Salvador, Guatemala, and Nicaragua. The MS-13 are regularly the lone wolf in the gang world, but are starting to form more concrete relationships with Mexican cartels (i.e. the Zetas) to heighten their drug trafficking
To fully answer this question one must look at the underlying philosophies behind Hitler’s leadership. What did he stand for and did his ideologies have any redeeming characteristics? Indisputably he had an ability to lead and motivate. He was revered with almost God – like fanaticisms by his people. This essay will set out to establish the basis of his leadership and within that framework, the nature of the man and his vision for the world.
Leadership is critical and it refers to the process of influencing followers towards achieving the groups’ goals. Toxic leadership refers to the leadership offered by leaders who abuse power and leave the group they lead in a poorer condition after they are left. Toxic leadership is associated with incompetence, insularity, evil, intemperance (lack of self control), callousness, rigidity and corruption among other bad leadership characters. The leaders involved in toxic leadership are not concerned about uplifting the people they lead (followers). Instead, they make sure they satisfy their self interests. They fight and control instead of caring for their followers. In most cases, the leaders with this leadership style are leaders who bully, abuse, and discriminate the subordinates. In addition, they create a hostile climate, self serving and arrogant, threaten and even yell at their followers among other fierce characters. They do not lead based on their qualifications. However, they apply force to be in leadership positions thus making the lives of their followers a misery . They are selfish in that they work to promote themselves without regard to the welfare of their followers. In most cases, do this by not minding about the future of their group and its members. This paper explores the effects of toxic leadership in the United States.
The Aryan Nation ran by Richard Butler was horrifying, but with the events that took place it’s over. The group members often get tattoos with their “Juggalo names” and other Juggalo tattoos. They also wear face paint to look like scary clowns, usually black and white to emulate the Insane Clown posse’s style. Their
The Aryan brotherhood was originally started in the San Quentin prison in California in 1967. “Members display many white supremacist, neo-nazi characteristics and ideology, but often but often state their goals as simply “getting high and getting over,” or making their stay in prison as comfortable as possibly” (Florida Department of Corrections). Being that the Aryan Brotherhood is made up of white people, who show that neo-nazi mentality, some of the enemies of this gang include Black Guerilla Family, Crips, Bloods, and El Rukns, because these gangs are made up of mostly black members. The Aryan Brotherhood will use black associates to sell drugs within the prisons to other black prisoners, this will eliminate the exposure they have with rival gangs. They do maintain a working type of relationship with the Mexican Mafia, and are known to work alongside biker groups. It is said many of them were once part of these biker groups.
While they might sport the tattoos, the jackets, colors, and signs, often these members are only tangentially affiliated. According to much of the available literature, tattoos also serve as a badge of protection against coercion from other gangs (Jackson and McBride 1985). In the current study, tattoos signify a number of different and personal matters, only one of which gang membership and a warning to others.
Surenos are another popular gang in Fresno, most surenos are Mexican, Hispanic, or Latino. Their color to wear or represent is blue, therefore they will carry a blue rag with them most of the time. Tatoos they usually have are “south side”, the number 13, three dots (each dot stand for one word in “mi vida loca”), and when they have killed someone they will have a tear drop tattooed on the side of their eye. They will also use a rosary around there neck to show respect for god, but it is also something that represents the sureno gang in general.
Among several of the most dangerous prison gangs, one in particular stands out compared to the rest; the Aryan Brotherhood. The Aryan Brotherhood may not be as well known as other prison gangs, such as the Black Guerrilla Family, the Mexican Mafia, or La Nuestra Familia, but their brutal, ruthless, and vicious acts and beliefs have made them one of the most feared. Also known as The Brand, this group of criminals has developed from a courtyard prison gang to an international criminal organization, which quickly put them on the FBI’s radar.

Deviant acts cannot be discussed without taking into account culture, perspective, and religion. Every culture is known for their types of expressions though tattooing, piercings, and body modification. Asian gangs such as the Yakuza are known for their full body tattoos, while African tribes can be associated with wearing rings that stretch their necks. Often, these types of tattooing and body modifications are seen as a sign of beauty or a sign of respect. In the United States, tattooing, piercings, and body modifications are becoming more acceptable, in moderation.
