OrthoOklahoma is an orthopedic medical clinic with a physical therapy branch that provides outpatient physical therapy care. The facility has a staff of three licensed physical therapists and a physical therapy assistant along with four physical therapy techs. I was able to observe all three physical therapists, Megan Ripley, Joe Ogle and Ken Roberts. At OrthoOklahoma, the most common patients are post-surgery from repairs of muscles, bones or joints. While shadowing these therapists, I observed cases of total knee replacement, total hip replacement, ACL/meniscus repair, rotator cuff repair, frozen shoulder, labrum repair, and other ailments from wear-and-tear and aging. This experience allowed me to talk to physical therapists about the ins and outs of their job, learn about different exercises and routines for treatment of injuries, and really get an idea of the work it takes to become a well-respected physical therapist.

“How would it feel to be convicted for a crime that wasn’t committed just because of skin color?” This is what exactly happens in Harper Lee’s book “To Kill A Mockingbird.” Tom Robinson was charged guilty for rape and assault of Mayella Ewell. Atticus Finch went against Mr.Gilmer to defend Tom’s innocence. It was almost impossible to convince a white jury’s opinion towards Tom because of his color. Both Atticus and Mr.Gilmer both used Logos, Ethos and Pathos, rhetorical concepts in their arguments.Even though Mr.Gilmer had won the case, Atticus’s was more effective in terms of strengths and weaknesses shown.
My first Physical therapy observation experience was at TIRR Memorial Hermann in the Texas Medical Center. The therapy done here were for inpatients who went through a brain or spinal cord injury. On my first day I did not know what I was going in for. I only thought that PT was about orthopedic rehabilitation but in reality there is therapy for everything.

I want to become a physical therapy assistant (PTA) because PTAs help others live a healthy and productive life by facilitating those in need as they regain their full physical capability. Physical therapy is a vital component in patient care that may be challenging at times but overall extremely rewarding. PTAs are directly involved with the rehabilitation, prevention and treatment of patients by following a plan set forth by the PT that involves stretching and strength training to improve their movement and manage their pain. It requires empathy, patience, and the ability to analyze individual
A Physical Therapist Assistant is someone who carries out task under a Physical Therapist. Physical Therapist assistants help patients regain their mobility, relieve pain, and lessen physical disabilities. There are many reasons why I want to become a Physical Therapist Assistant, but three truly explain why becoming a Physical Therapist Assistant is for me. I have implemented a non-profit organization that helps children cope with disabilities that relate to many different aspects of their lives, I have experienced what physical therapy is like and I know how I can make it more enjoyable for patients, and my passion for working with others to help them live a healthy and happy life.
My first experience observing a physical therapist, commenced in the summer of 2014. At the time, I was given the opportunity to observe a physical therapist named Jennifer Moreland. Throughout my time observing her, I began to recognize she was not just a physical therapist with her patients. Many times, she took on the role of a consoler, cheerleader, friend and supporter for her patients. Reflecting back on this, I am able to see that the primary reason she has succeeded as a physical therapist; is due to her amiable, encouraging and empathetic nature. These character traits have allowed her to do more than heal patients' musculoskeletal problems. She has also been able to heal hearts, souls and minds by cheering, supporting, listening
In the future, I see myself as being a physical therapist assistant. I am interested in this career choice because I enjoy fitness and helping others improve their life. Being able to see a person making progress and being a part of that process is an amazing feeling. I want to be able to use being a PTA as a platform to touch someone’s life in a positive way. Working as a PTA, I would need to be able to work with physical therapist to help people with lack of mobility.
If you look at any company or organization, you are bound to find a list of values, things that others view as positive qualities in a person. These could be things such as honesty, knowledge, diligence, and compassion. Values set up a foundation for the organization, something for their employees to follow and exemplify in their service to the general public. Employees can use their organization’s values to see what their strengths are and where they need to improve. Values also provide a reference point when hiring new employees, helping employers to see which individuals are already living the organization’s values. The American Physical Therapy Association (APTA) has such a list of values, which they refer to as ‘Core Values’. These are Accountability, Altruism, Compassion/Caring, Excellence, Integrity, Professional Duty, and Social Responsibility. It is important for me, as a future Physical Therapist Assistant, to look at the APTA’s Core Values and see where my strengths and weaknesses lie.

Greek philosophers like Socrates, Plato, and Aristotle and many others explored subjects like pleasure, pain, knowledge, motivation, rationality, and mental illness that until now are often discussed by psychologists. The philosophers tried to understand about human traits if see if they are innate or the product of experience each of them had their own ideas and points of views. Some of the philosophers got their own theories, but they did not proof their theories because they did not make any research or use any scientific methods. Philosophers were intrigued about the soul, what it is made of, what it is its nature, and how the soul was connected to the body if it is intangible. At that time period, it was thought that the soul was the source of human behavior and its mode of action a kind of physical force
Altruism: The ultimate goal of a physical therapist is to improve a patient’s quality of life. With this ability to do so, it is important for a therapist to use their skills in a way to give back to their community. This devotion to helping people inside and outside of the clinic is important to share as it improves overall wellness within our society. Prior to working as a PT technician, I spent a year volunteering in physical therapy settings. I was able to learn and assist in PT related tasks within a hospital, outpatient clinic, and pediatric clinic. I’ve also participated in community events that have involved high school sports physicals and as well other events involving physical activities.
Over the twentieth century, dance education was incorporated with many different types of dances that have evolved, giving way for more funding to be earned. Illona Wale, a graduate from the University of Arizona, discusses how dance has changed throughout the twentieth century in her Master’s thesis,"A Proposed Discipline Based Arts Education Framework." In her thesis, Illona compared decades to each other. It started in the early twentieth century, folk or "national" dance became prevalent… From the 1930's, the dances taught were folk, social, tap, clog, character, and modern… Since post-World War II, ballet became a major theatre form, with its emphasis on technique, costuming, and decoration.1 Folk dance was very popular due to immigrants keeping their culture in America through continuing their traditional dances from their homeland, due to being isolated by others in the United States. At the same time, over the tens and twenties a sense of unity was formed due to the United States participating in World War I. Folk was still popular, but with the rise of the Charleston in the twenties, tap and character also rise up in popularity because of the influence the Charleston had in the thirties. There was also more emphasis on social outings during the thirties and dance became a large part of this social concept. In the thirties and forties, modern dance also became more popular with H’Doubler and other dancers freeing themselves of what was perceived as stiff dances.
