Herewith I apply for the positions of “College Professor-Physics & Astronomy” as advertised.
At present, I am a contract Physics Instructor at Kwantlen Polytechnic University (KPU) and at Vancouver Community College (VCC). At KPU my current covered sections are Astronomy 1101 (labs) and Physics 1101/1120(labs). At VCC I am teaching two sections (lecture and labs) of Physics 1200.
My previous physics teaching position was at Vancouver International College and my major duties were: course design for Physics 11 and Physics 12, establishing a Physics laboratory from A to Z (selecting the needed lab equipment, negotiating with, and placing orders to, lab equipment suppliers from Canada and the US, setting up laboratory, etc.).
From 2010 until
Clifford Brown was a very influential composer who made the most of the short life he
Currently, I am working as a FT Support Teacher at BCC and presently acting as the Core R/W teacher at BCC. Specifically,
Taught dynamic lab discussions and instruction with up to 100 students per session and tutored students individually and in groups outside of class time to improve their knowledge set and promoted self-motivation
On the surface of Planet 7 Plato once stated "Astronomy compels the soul to look upward, and leads us from this world to another". In the short story written by Ray Bradbury, astronomy is not the only reason men have to explore other worlds. Here There Be Tygers relates the story of a group of astronauts who are embarked in a utopian adventure traveling across the universe in search of profitable planets to exploit. The spacemen are mesmerized by the extraordinary beauty and lush green valleys that surround Planet 7 of Start 84. Subsequent to their arrival, they discover the planet is like no other planet.
There were many similarities and differences over the book and DVD. Lots of them were full of shocking surprises and twists. The Call of the Wild is mostly about a dog named Buck that goes on a journey through the wilderness. He faces great dangers along the way. He is also traded back and forth thru multiple people.
In addition to my research experience, my education gives me a strong understanding of physics related to this work, as well as preparing me for the physics-based modeling and simulations.
Lecture’s Central Argument: Different societies have viewed cosmology differently over time and this view has evolved due to new ideologies.
After learning about the responsibilities of this REU program, I’ve found that these responsibilities and my set of skills in computer programming, mathematical reasoning, and physical knowledge are quite compatible. Although I am familiar with other programming languages, more relevantly, I am proficient in C++ up to a data structures and algorithms level, and I have taken a course on scientific computation in python. I also interned as a software engineer for Skanatek AB this past summer. Alongside my knowledge of quantum physics from my coursework and my independent study, I will also be taking a solid-state physics course in the upcoming spring semester. Also in the spring semester, I will be taking a course in experimental techniques in physics and engineering, which will prepare me for experimental and laboratory work. This experimental physics course has a large component focused on written and oral communication skills
For example, I worked as a tester for practicum at the ADHD (Attention deficit hyperactivity disorder) lab. I also administered cognitive and achievement tests with children who have ADHD. Additionally, I operated neuroimaging tests such as MRI, and EEG. And, I spent time doing administrative tasks for their research at a pediatric clinic, and cleaned research data using SPSS, matlab, and NVivo softwares. I participated with a neuroscience outreach organization called Northwest Noggin.
I also was in charge of grading lecture and lab content and served as a mentor for younger
Below you will read research on stars and black holes. Black holes are stars whose core has been crushed by gravity. In the text to follow you will see how a star forms, read about its life and how it becomes a black hole.
The purpose of this investigation is to identify how religion and astronomy intertwines. The term "cosmos" means "ordered world." For most of recorded history, humans have believed that God, or a group of Gods, created the ordered universe out of chaos. This belief is still shared by a majority of people around the world today, but aspects of that faith have changed as our scientific knowledge of the cosmos has grown. This paper investigates religions that have include astronomy and astrology within itself such as Hinduism, Buddhism, and Mesopotamian. The paper also address the scientific belief that religion is not necessary due to advancements of technology and knowledge. The scope of this investigation begins by providing the definition
The death penalty is a legal process whereby a person is put to death as a punishment for a crime. The death penalties are usually carried out for retribution of a heinous murder committed, such as aggravated murder, felony killing or contract killing. Every state handles what method they want to use to put a person to death according to their state laws. The death penalty is given by lethal injection, electrocution; gas chamber firing squad and hanging are some of the ways that certain states may carry out their death penalty procedures. I will present some views and personal opinion dealing with the pros and cons of the death penalty. The death penalty is such a life altering subject that affects
In the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries, Christian belief encountered significant opposition. Until then, most of the world shared the belief of the “Medieval world view” that not only was the earth positioned at the center of the universe, but that God was all knowing, all powerful and all good. God was thought to have created and sustained the wondrous workings of the universe. This belief told the people all they needed to know about the meaning and purpose of life. Then, scientific discovery and methods began to undermine religious beliefs. Scientists began to reveal that natural laws and natural forces governed the world. Opposing beliefs, e.g. the Marxism belief, criticized Christian views. People like, Bacon, Copernicus, Kepler,
Astronomy and astrology are very similar, yet different. Astronomy is the study of the universe and what's inside of it, as well as other universes. Astrology is the study of how the actions and movements of things in our universe affect what happens on earth, and people. Although they both deal with the universe and one was founded by the other, they also have many things that set them apart from one another. This essay will talk about the differences and similarities of astronomy and astrology and how each is used.
