Those on the Left, including the Clintons and Obama, have been accused of using the IRS as their personal “Gestapo”, attacking individuals and groups that are opposed to their agenda. Joseph Farah, WND Editor, reported in a 1999 article that the Clintons used the IRS as a “secret police agency – the go-to guys when no other punishment will do.” “During Clinton’s term in office, IRS audits were conducted against individuals and groups who caused problems for the administration. Several prominent conservative groups found themselves facing IRS audits, following their criticism of the president and his policies. Among the conservative groups targeted for audits were the Heritage Foundation, the National Rifle Association, Concerned Women of America, Citizens Against Government Waste, National Review, American Spectator (which was burglarized three …show more content…
Could Obama have learned these nefarious tactics from the Clintons? Hillary Clinton was his Secretary of State after all, so the scenario is not farfetched. If elected President, will she resort to the same IRS game plan as her husband and Obama? The IRS scandal targeted conservative groups who were applying for tax exempt status, many of which were outright, unjustly denied. Some experienced a lengthy waiting period before hearing back. We aren’t talking about waiting for weeks - we’re talking about months, and sometimes well over a year. The period this occurred was prior to the 2012 elections. Many of these conservative groups were associated with the Tea Party. The problem lies with how the IRS scandal has been handled by the current administration. While most of us may think that they should be cooperative and seeking a quick resolution to the embarrassment of yet another scandal, that has not been the case. It should come as no surprise that the administration has, instead, attempted to rebuke the scandal altogether. Scandal? What
According to an Journal on Regulation published by Yale University, throughout the years especially in the mid-1990s corporate abuse the system by creating tax shelters, a common scheme typically involving complex financial transactions between corporation, partnerships, trust, legal instruments and others to artificially offset their taxable income. Tens of billions are estimated to be lost in tax revenue due to these shelf tax created by companies that took advantage in how complex the Internal Revenue Code to create paper losses to offset their taxable income.
Jack Rosenbaum, President of Rosenbaum Inc., a rare coin business owner. Jack was ripping off the IRS of more than 200 million dollars by sending in double tax returns. One company would have a net operating loss and receive a tax refund while the parent company filed a consolidated tax return. After Jeff did further investigation, he soon realized that the company’s shop had been audited but not the retail audits. The audit had been conducted by Tony Blake, a Revenue Agent; it became apparent that he was a crook. Very soon after Jeff uncovered this information someone tried
I will be writing about Wesley Snipes who is an American actor. Mr. Snipes took the advice of his accountant not to file tax returns, or pay taxes on his income. The IRS tried to get him convicted on several felony tax fraud charges. They were reduced to misdemeanors that carried a mandatory 3-year jail sentence. He went to jail in December of 2010 at McKean Federal Correctional Institution. Mr. Snipes finished his time at a minimum security prison and was released early in April 2013. I do feel that he was treated the same as any other offender. He did not pay his taxes for 10 years, and the IRS went after him as they would anyone who didn’t pay their taxes. The IRS does not mess around, if you owe them, they will come after you and
* John Mitchell while serving as attorney general, controlled a secret GOP fund to finance intelligence gathering operations against the Democrat party
Few people like paying taxes. In fact, some individuals go to extreme lengths to avoid paying taxes – legally or otherwise. During the Civil War, one guilt-ridden American triggered the move by the U.S Treasury to enhance an already-established fund, in which citizens could voluntarily remit payments for unpaid or back taxes. Since its inception in 1811, up to 1987, The Conscience Fund had collected over 5 million dollars – thanks in part to the guilty conscience of one American citizen.
The tax policy in the United States is very confusing. When the tax policy was originally written in 1913 it was four hundred pages. Now, over the past ninety one years, that tax policy has evolved to over 72,000 pages. Since the tax code has become so lengthy and nearly impossible to understand, the topic of tax reform has been in the minds of many. Although, most barely think about tax reform until tax season. It is a controversial subject due to the impact a change in tax code would have on the American people. The two most popular and widely known stakeholders in this debate are the two major political parties in the United States, the Democrats and the Republicans. The two parties share absolutely no common ground on the subject of
American libraries published an article titled “FTRF Files Amicus Opposing U.S. Ban on Anti-Tax Book in which District Judge Lloyd D. George notes that “it is illegal under tax code to engage ‘fraudulent or deceptive conduct that substantially interferes with the proper administration of the internal revenue laws’”. (American Libraries Magazine 1) This made it illegal for Schiff to write a book that contained fraudulent information on tax evasion because it would interfere with the IRS collecting taxes from hundreds of Americans who read Schiff’s book. Declaring that the book contains fraudulent information allows it to be banned appropriately.
Volume three’s focus is the abuse of the IRS that happened during Nixon’s presidency. That includes the misuse of tax information and passing it to the FBI. The IRS had a special service staff whose job was to target such individuals and groups for investigation. There were 8000 individuals and 3000 organizations on the SSS list. That included the American civil liberties union, and the American library association. The witnesses included were the Commissioner of the IRS, Donald Alexander, and by counsel and several assistant
Although the IRS knew that change was needed and had participated in some way to the data that drove the decisions to change, a sense of urgency was created when the RRA was signed into law. The need for change was further publicized during the four day nationally televised hearings of the Senate Finance Committee detailing the IRS inadequacies and taxpayers abuse. To restructure the IRS had to become a more customer-centered enterprise. Using Kotter’s 8-strp model, the change followed these steps:
IRS preformed an audit on his years in office and found that he owed about 400,000 dollars,
The once necessary foundation of America has largely been politicized and corrupted. It has hurled its own citizens, in which relied on it, into perpetual hysteria, with little means of escape of its domination. Expatiated by a small handful of individuals is the only manner of controlling this trite of a foundation. This would be abolishing the IRS altogether. Everyone knows that the government establishments have been deteriorating for years, and quite frankly become evil. Maltreating its fellow inhibitors; sucking them dry. The IRS is no different. The IRS has been greedy and fluctuated its rules and standards to meet their satisfaction of their hunger, leaving many deserted and scared.
Stanton Delaplane once joked about the IRS, saying he heard it had suggested a simplified tax form with only one question: How much money did you make last year? The IRS response was, "Mail it in"." Thank goodness, our taxes haven 't gotten quite that bad. It is true though, that the majority of Americans, most of us included, have to bite the
IRS audits can be one of the most challenging and emotionally draining tax issues you will ever face, and if approached incorrectly, the results can be distressing, which is why you need Tax Audit Defense. When the IRS shows up to the audit, they are familiar with all the laws and regulations allowable, and unless you’ve handled audit proceedings before, you are not. They know this, and will use it to their advantage. Much like trying to represent yourself in court, the outcome is only as good
There is nothing worse than working hard all year, having taxes withheld from your paycheck, and then finding out you still owe Uncle Sam come April. Taxes seem to be one of the most politically charged issues, with candidates from both parties making the topic an integral part of their campaign. Whether any real movement takes place is something that remains to be seen, as the Nation gears up for the next Presidential election.
