GENETICALLY MODIFIED FOOD ARE SAFE AND NUTRITIOUS
Opening Statement ANTHONY:
Genetically modified food is safe and nutritious, in fact the long term health effects and health risks of genetically modified foods are not yet known, and this could show that there is a possibility of there not being any problems with GMOs at all. If there was something that was seriously wrong with Gmo foods, we would know about it. The way media is today, there is no doubt in my mind that we wouldn't we hearing about it.
Argument one GABBY:
GMOs can also be used as a “healthier” alternative to pesticides, which are used to reduce the amount of bugs that eat at the food during their crop season. Because pesticides aren’t healthy for consumption depending on how

There is no significant difference between GM foods and non-GM foods.
There are no inherent differences between foods produced from genetically modified (GM) plants and those from non-GM crops http://americanradioworks.publicradio.org/features/gmos_india/pro_con.html Second Argument.
GMO food are bigger and cheaper to produce, thus it is easier to feed more people for less money.
Third Argument.
GMO Foods help eliminate the need for pesticides and other insect killing products. Lowering the pesticide content in our food will help increase our health. Also, GMOS can help prevent the spoilage of food increasing the amount produced each year.
Fourth Argument
Most GMO foods are actually healthier for you
REBUTTALS
Genetic modification is nothing new. People have manipulated foods and food crops for millennia, through methods ranging from fermentation to classical selection. Genetic engineering is just the latest form of biotechnology—the most precise method yet. http://americanradioworks.publicradio.org/features/gmos_india/pro_con.html

Gabby:
PROS:
Gmo’s can make food healthier (our argument):
Bruise free potatoes- will not cause cancer
GMO’s are bigger and you get more for your dollar
Can help end world hunger
RE=Rebuttal - Thing we say back
CONS:
1. Gmo’s use harmful chemicals - RE: Nope, they don’t - -By moving a piece of DNA from one organism into another, scientists are not introducing a "foreign" substance. The new gene merely prompts the modified organism to express a desired trait.
2. GMOS are not natural - RE; Yes they are look above /\ /\ /\
3. Gmo’s are made in a lab - So what? That doesn’t mean they are inherently bad.
4. Gmo’s don't taste as good-RE; who cares because that's your opinion, some gmo’s are made specifically to taste good.
5. Government insight is very relaxed Re: Companies that wish to release a GM seed or the product of a GM crop are required to test the safety of that product. If the product is made from an organism containing a known allergen, it must be tested for safety. -No one has substantiated a single human death, or even illness, as a result of consuming GMOs
6. GM
As said before, GMOs are genetically modified organisms, and can be dangerous, so experts say. They say that the GMO process causes diseases such as cancer or diabetes, and some also say that GM foods can cause allergic reactions. They are saying this because, as they have discovered, some companies have mixed protein from nuts and inserted into beans, which can be harmful
GMO’s or Genetically Modified Food is one of the most controversial topics that have been studied and debated for over 40 years. Scientists on both sides of the spectrum claim that these modified foods are safe for consumption, but also some argue that these foods are toxic and very harmful to human life. GMO’s are genetically modified organisms that are created and added in a lab experiment where DNA are extracted from one gene and added to another plant or animal. This allows the genes to mix with the DNA to create a desired product. For example, bigger apples, larger oranges, taller animals, and plants that can survive the changing climate. GMOs are different from organic food and products because chemicals and DNA modification is not needed for these natural stuff.
The American Academy Of Environmental Medicine have found out, Gmos also cause organ damage, gastrointestinal and immune system disorders. They also discovered the GMOs leave material behind that leads to long terms problems
Ender's Game was written in 1985 by Orson Scott Card is a science fiction novel. The book came another story with the same title, published in 1977.Orson Scott Card later wrote more books to create the Ender's Game series. The final edited Ender's Game was released in 1991, fixing some political facts to fit into the generation. Themes of the book show affection, antagonism, toughness and fearlessness. Card’s novel brings to life the story of child genius Ender Wiggin, who must save the world from wicked alien "buggers.".
Many will argue that Genetically Modified Organisms(GMOs) are not safe for human consumption, however they are almost inevitable for our everyday food consumption. Some argue that the recent increase in gluten intolerance is caused by GMO foods (Argument against). Other state that the risk to humans by GMO’s is relatively small (The GMO”). The bottom line is what people put into their bodies is a personal choice and a person should be able to easily tell if a product has been genetically modified or not.
“When you light a candle, you also cast a shadow.” – Ursula K. Le Guin. No matter what good some people believe they are doing, everything seems to come with a consequence, and the question is whether or not the good overpowers the bad. Many experts argue that Genetically Modified foods are actually beneficial to, not only people, but animals, plants, and the world overall. Some experts even state that, not only are they beneficial, but that they also protect the environment and aid food productivity. Most farmers actually recommend GMO’s because they are easier to grow, maintain, and tend to be more profitable; however, countless other experts have come to realize that GMO foods are untested, unsafe, and unhealthy. Studies indicate that
One of the great things about GMOs is they’re more economical. They can reduce the cost of certain foods, farmers use less pesticides, and farmers get more out of the land while still conserving it. Genetically modified crops are already resistant to
While these are valid concerns, they are entirely wrong. According to the World Health Organization in 2005, “GM foods currently traded on the international market have passed risk assessments in several countries and are not likely to present risks for human health” (Novella). Many of those who are anti-GMO claim that GMOs are not safe because they do not know enough about them or they have heard far too many conflicting reports. While there are many reports that claim that GMOs are detrimental to the environment, the three agencies that oversee GM crops, the FDA, USDA, and EDA, have ruled that these crops do not pose any real threat. Since the beginning of the GM crop in 1996, there have been 2,497 approvals of the safety of GMOs in the environment and 1,129 of these approvals have been for the food safety of the products (Monsanto). This further disproves the claim that GMOs are unsafe for humans and the environment and reassures that there is no risk involved in either the consumption or the planting of GM
GMO foods were designed for various reasons; for instance, to enhance growth, resist parasites, hold longer shelf life, and hold a higher nutritional value. Controversy of GMOs is still prevalent, as they have been able to consume for over 20 years. Many are concerned because of the
Although many opponents believe that gmos can be beneficial to the world by having foods that will be disease-free that can be used to feed the world and help the environment. This idea is not valid because there are much better ways to grow and feed the world without having to create artificial and fake foods that can potentially hurt us in the end. Instead, one should go against GMOs and eat foods that are said to be GMO free. The reason why we should do this is because it will assure us that our bodies and the environment will be safe from possible dangers that gmo’s put out for
There is more than one side of the debate about whether the usage of genetically modified foods (GMO’s) is good or bad for you. One claim is that GMO’s are bad for you. To begin with, GMO’s are not safe for humans. According to nongmoproject.org, they state that “more than 60 countries around the world, including Japan, Australia, and all of the countries of the European Union, all have restrictions and bans on GMO’s being produced and sold” mainly because they are causing health problems in those countries. Another reason that GMO’s are not beneficial is because they are causing environmental damage to countries that rely on them. According to nongmoproject.org, they claim that, “Over 80% of all GMO’s
The use of GMOs can be a huge step in a way of better food production because it has less of a need for the use of pesticides. Nutritional value has an effect on GMOs because you can consume the bad ones or the best ones. A lot of scientists say that genetically modified organisms have a bad nutritional value because they are modified chicken meat from McDonalds. Although that is partly true that isn’t all the full truth because what about the good rich vegetables that we need.
GMO foods are not the most healthy or honest foods, but they are the most helpful. Many fruits and vegetables are engineered to be resistant to bugs and diseases that could cause famine. This helps farmers all over the country by giving them a better harvest. Also, non-sanitary soil has become a large problem in some places around the world. The soil made it harder for crops to grow in certain environments. To solve this problem, scientists could take a gene from a plant that can live in these conditions, and plant it into another crop’s genome. This would make the crop that
“70 percent of our corn farmland and 93 percent of soy farmland are planted with crops genetically engineered to resist pests and herbicides and increase crop yields. 60% of all the processed foods in the United States are genetically modified; a shocking statistic has the concern of many Americans. However, most people are uninformed about the beneficial impact that genetically modified food has on their diet. GM is the use of molecular biology technology to modify the inherited structure of organisms. Genetically engineered crops increase nutrients, drought tolerance, provide more food for growing populations, and resists diseases and pesticides. Genetically engineered foods are crucial to the improvement of economy, agriculture, society, and health choices. The creation of GM foods was one of the most significant breakthroughs in food industry. Genetically modifying foods is a key component that is harmless for the enrichment of our foods.
One of the biggest reason countries and organizations want to create GMO’s it so help end world hunger. By making these genetically modified plants and animals we are able to yield more food. This happens because they can make animals grow bigger which have more meat on the bone. The same idea goes with plants, only when it come to plants they can also make them pesticide tolerable or even insert a gene into them that acts as a natural pesticide for the plant. Larger animals and plants make it easier on farms because now it takes less heads of crops or animals to produce the same out. At
