Across the United States of America a debate rages on daily, that debate is whether or not to allow the public to obtain and operate firearms. The right to bear arms has been fused together with American culture for hundreds of years. Many advocates for gun control are against citizens of the United States being able to possess and operate firearms, even though it is a necessary evil and is a right of every man and woman across the country. Gun control in the United States is a dangerous topic but one that needs to be addressed. American citizens have the right to bear arms, and the evidence is there to prove that it can be done effectively and safely.

America needs to institute, and initiate gun control laws throughout the entire nation. But not everybody who inhabits the United States believes in regulating arms. Those who are against establishing gun laws argue that gun control directly infringes upon their “right to bear arms” granted to them by the 2nd Amendment. Anti gun control supporters, such as the National Rifle Association, often claim that the act of regulating guns is a sufficient reason why such an Amendment was introduced in the constitution; to protect themselves from any and all forms of violation of civil liberties and freedom. Supporters of anti gun laws are unwilling to welcome any interpretations of the 2nd Amendment that do not match up “word for word,” as was written in the Bill of Rights.

Each person has their own idea of what our founding fathers meant when they put this in our constitution. Some people use guns as a hunting sport or for food. As the Second Amendment implies, the right to bear arms isn’t given to us by the government, and it just isn’t an American right. It’s a human right (Gingrich, Newt 2012). They say that they shouldn’t repeal the 2nd Amendment because it’s believed that it gives us a certain level of protection and lowers criminal attack. They claim that if guns were easier to get we’d be able to protect ourselves better and be less helpless/fearless of attackers. How many of us want the U.S. government to have the right to tell us what to do, and when w can do it. There are probably not many who would agree that the government should have that right. Though having gun control laws is not to that extreme, some would say it is the first step. Growing up in a small town, and also growing up with guns my whole life I was one of those people who did not want gun control laws. This only the most recent one, there have been many more, there is no limit to what these weapons can kill, from non-human animals to human children to adults. One a weapon is shot at a person they will either die or have a serious injury, if weapon is shot at the wrong place it can even paralyze a person limiting their movements later on in their lives. Some states have placed limits and have somewhat taken initiative to stop these lunatics from getting weapons by lengthening the background test, making taking the background tesst hard and only choosing those who are a good fit to be able to carry a weapon that can take someone's life away in the the matter of seconds.

The right to bear arms is a wonderful thing. The law is great for multiple reasons and should not be taken away by Obama. Reason one for the right to bear arms is to be used as self defense in case of an attack by another person. Reason two for the right to bear arms helps citizens to save their own life and live a safe life. Reason three, in order to get a gun the person must go under a background check. Reason four, people are excluded if they have a criminal act against someone. Reason five, this law does not carelessly let a person own a firearm.
