Girls are just as talented and athletic as boys, maybe even better and should be able to play on the same teams as their male counterparts. Some of the best sports players are girls. They are dedicated to what they do, and they work hard to achieve their goals. Plus, girls are stronger than they look, as looks can be deceiving. First, there would be more opportunities out there for girls. There would be a lot more open sports available for them. These ladies would not have to worry about not having a sport to play. Some of these girls like the more active contact sports, such as football, or wrestling. Not all girls are scared of getting hurt, so they want the chance to show the boys they can do the same. Wrestling is definitely something people …show more content…
They want encouragement from the guys. Nobody wants to feel left out. They should treat the girls the same way. If females were to be a part of a male’s team, she would want to feel like part of the team.
For example, Sara a girl from New York joined the local little league when she was just six. She has always played on an all-boys team. Sara had to work hard to prove to all the doubters she had what it takes to be just as good as one of the boys. She is not only on the team, now she pitches for them! She says, “I don’t get special treatment, I’m just like one of them.” It just took her teammates and other acquaintances longer to see that Sara can play just as well as the boys.
Sara is not the only girl playing on a “boys’ sports team.” Over 100,000 other girls play on what was once considered “guys only” sports teams. Female athletes are kicking field goal on the football field, throwing strikes on the diamond, pinning someone in wrestling, and taking slap shots in hockey. Some of these girls have become leaders on their teams. They have proven to all the disbelievers that they can do what they set their mind
Throughout history, woman have been fighting for equality with men. This fight isn’t over and doesn’t stop with the right to vote or the right to wear pants. The progressive movements of feminism are starting to creep into younger generations, including, but not limited to young girls wanting to play on predominantly male-dominated sport teams. There are a lot of controversies when looking at this topic, saying there’s a natural strength advantage, it would be uncomfortable for a male to compete alongside females, among other reasons but ultimately, if the drive and effort is present, there are legal rights and no legitimate reason for woman to not be given the opportunity to prove themselves and normalize the incorporation of females to male sports.
If high school athletics gets cut for girls, the other girls would have to find a new hobby and have a better chance of taking the path to drugs and alcoholism. If all the girls sporting events get cut, then there is a greater chance that If all the girls that are good enough to play on boys teams funding might get cut. If the girl sports players went and played on boys teams, then it would first be unfair for men, and the girls funding could get cut(http://www.debate.org/opinions/should-girls-be-allowed-to-play-on-boys-sports-teams ). Girls should stay off boys teams to help school funding. If all the girls that are good sports players and could play on boys sports teams and the school cuts girls, the girls will not go to college( http://thelariatonline.com/girls-shouldnt-play-on-boys-teams/ ). If the girls don’t go to college, there would be a lot fewer people going to college, so the colleges wouldn’t be able to give scholarships for those who need them to attend college. The girls playing on boys teams could result in the women's sports getting
Women have struggled for more than two centuries to be taken serious as professionals. There should not be a double standard in sports especially if it is loved and played by both genders. Over the years, females have competed against the stereotype of being too fragile both mentally and physically to play strenuous sports. The passion and work ethic of the female professional athletes is just as strong as the males and everyone should be treated equal and be able to have a chance at making a better living for themselves as well as their family. One area that still faces a continual struggle in sports is gender equality. Female
As stated previously, women have a much lower interest in competing in athletics, statistically speaking. For example, high schools must also obey the regulations put into play by Title IX by offering the same number of sports teams for each gender, thus giving high school students equal opportunities to participate in athletics. However, even though both male and females are offered the same opportunities, 1.4 million fewer females choose to compete in high school sports than males. Based on recent reports from the 2010-11 academic year from the state high school athletic associations from all 50 states, sports participation among genders is approximately 4.5 million boys, or 60% of total participation, as compared to approximately 3.1 million girls, or only 40% of total participation.(Toporek) Although this statistic clearly
The first and foremost reason why girls should be able to play with boys is, most girls sports are just built off of the boys sport. Take softball for instance, it is just built off of baseball. There are only few differences in the rules. Basketball is the same for boys and girls. If girls can play the same exact sport with the same exact rules why can’t they with and against guys.
My first point is when do we decide boys should play with boys and girls should play with girls. Everyone develops at their own rate, which means that some girls develop at a faster rate than boys and could be able to compete fairly. A 12 year old girl named Makhaela Jenkins took this idea to court in 2013. She was fighting for her right to play on a boys only football team. She won her case, and that year there was more then 1,500 girls playing on boys football teams, which is a 17% increase since 2009, according to the National Federation of State high school Association.
When it comes to girls being able to play on sport teams, I favor this simply because it is a right for them to do so, the allegations formed against are unfair and unjust, and being placed on a team should be determined by skills, determination and abilities rather than gender.
This can be a safety hazard for females in a highly contact sport like football, if society were to allow girls to play on all boy’s teams. Also, Dr. Wallace agrees with this statement, “And in most sports, strength and size make the difference, and these attributes are extremely important to team success. That's why I firmly believe the sexes should be separated in athletics” (www.creators.com).
The first reason is playing coed sports would have many advantages, one of them is that it increases the way that they distinguish themselves individually. Boys and girls like to play on the same teams because it gives them freedom to be with the opposite gender. Guys and girls hang out together outside of sports and teams, why not let them play a sport together. Statistics have shown that having coed sports reduces depression in girls and if in coed sports at an early age boys learn to respect girls sooner. This is one on of the few but very important reasons.
Secondly I think girls should be treated with respect Some girls can pay more attention to the game. Girls are able to make new friends and work together to win. I think it is fair because boys can play girl sports like gymnastics and if they can play girls sports then why can't girls play boy sports.
There has always been that stereotype of boys being more athletic than girls. The gender segregation of sports reflects more than just physical differences between men and women. It reflects the way men think about women and sports. When someone throws a baseball in a nonathletic way, a friend would yell, “Stop throwing like a girl!” Being reminded of this
Traditionally women were viewed as equipped to participate in sports, and their involvement was viewed as unfeminine and undesirable. This Article Examples the women were viewed as unfeminine to the sports that men play and undesirable. Young girls who are given an early opportunity to participate in sports may be more prepared for the male in classrooms. Even though women have often been relegated to second-hand citizenship in the same socializing, integration, statues, and recognition that benefit male athletes. (By; Sandra L. Hanson)
Race, gender, history and sexual orientation play major roles in women's participation in sport. Through out the history of women in sport, opportunity has increased. Many athletes and coaches are presented with the issue of sexual orientation throughout their sporting career. Regardless of sexual orientation, all female athletes are affected by heterosexism. One's racial or ethnicity background greatly shapes the experience they may have in sport. This essay explores the many issues women in sport face today.
The sports world has been a new area where women are recognized. In previous times women’s sports were almost non-existent. In schools many girl teams did not receive adequate funds for uniforms and equipment. Boys sports were much more popular, such as football or basketball. If a girl wanted to play a guy sport she would be labeled as a
In the last one hundred years women have made tremendous inroads in many facets of life. Of that there can be little doubt. Women may now hold jobs, own property and participate in professional sports. Today women can compete in sports, once a vestige of male domination; there is now room for women in that arena. But even today women in sports are not portrayed in the same light as their male counterparts. To a large degree this is because of today's cultural ideal of women.
