Human progression is a key motive in the field of science and technology. New techniques and designs are made to improve the general welfare and life span of human beings. However, development requires risks and those risks may have deadly effects on future generations. One such debate is over genetic engineering and creating “Designer Babies”. The ability to alter any trait an offspring may possess. Some promoters believe that this technology is improving nature’s system of evolution. Although, others believe that DNA modifications are unnatural and create superior cliques that negatively influence the laws civilizations will have. Thus, all the facts relating to “Designer Babies” need to be highlighted to prevent the destruction of the human race. Parents may have to make difficult decisions like whether or not they want their children to have a specific disorder or not. In addition, not everyone finds specific traits as “undesirable”, and may proceed to make the child have that trait. What becomes tricky is the idea of giving a child a defect or condition that makes life difficult, like “should a deaf parent who embraces his or her condition be permitted to select an embryo apt to produce a child unable to hear?” (Para 6) Some parents may find giving their children a specific condition will prepare the child to handle more challenges in life. As a result, a specific government in that country may have to get involved in eugenics to limit what its citizens can and cannot change. Political figures may “feel pressure to encourage, or even to force, people not to bring genetically diseased children into the world. This pressure would be exerted to keep public health costs down.” (Para 14) Designer babies would dramatically challenge the healthcare system instituted today, and disable citizen would find insurance rates
